Prayers for everyone in this storm's way. Also, if you have salt, sand or cat litter on hand, you can put this on the ice to gain traction to avoid slipping. If you have to go somewhere, carry some with you in a container just in case so you can make a safe path ahead of you. As well, if you have a tent you can set up in the house, you can have a fun camp out and it will help to keep warmer. Maybe even put a few blankets on the outside of it.
A friend’s rear basement door, near Front Royal VA. The sleet just rolled down his small outside stairwell and piled up in front of this door.
I hope everyone made it through storm safely! Grateful I was able to find a plow service... he got through once to clear a big chunk of it and will be back today for more cleanup. I read our final accumulation was 32 inches! Granddaughter found a new way to get down their front steps
Brutal. I measured 16" on our deck and the snow is like cement to move. We held on to our power but the town plow took out our mailbox. I found it buried in a big drift. Ugh, another trip to the hardware store. Our forecast is calling for a few more inches this afternoon. When we were younger these snowstorms were nothing, but they are a mighty big deal when you are older.
so true! Was looking at my neighbor who is a good 20 years younger then me shoveling... i had a remembrance of myself doing this im big storms years back . No way could i do it now.
Well you all cheered me up understanding how good I have it in Spain. I think the last big snow storm here was in 1942. Walk in another persons shoes. More prayers this evening and at mass.
Here, in the northern half of things, we were already below freezing, so instead of ice, we got a lot of snow here, more than I can remember coming at one time since a storm at Christmastime 2022. Still has mostly incapacitated things though..... Many churches, stores and public services are closed today and there have been very few cars on the roads in the last 48 hours.
