What I believe is well expressed by this Catholicism Article from Saint Benedict's Centre: "
Saint Paul speaks much more clearly in the Epistle to the Romans. The whole eleventh chapter treats of the subject of the mystery of the election of the Gentiles and the falling away of the Jews. Saint Paul reminds the Romans that there were Jews who were faithful and accepted Christ. He also reminds them not to be complacent but to take a lesson from the rejection of the Jews, that if God would not spare the chosen people from His wrath, neither will he spare the Gentiles, should they fall into sin. He says, “For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, of this mystery (lest you should be wise in your own conceits) that blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles should come in” (Rom. 11:25) This has always been interpreted by Catholics to mean that there will be a general conversion of the Jewish nation.

An impressive list of Fathers can be brought out who refer to this future conversion as a fact. Included are Tertullian, Origen, Saint Hilary, Saint Ambrose, Saint John Chrysostom, Saint Jerome, Saint Cyril of Alexandria, Saint Prosper of Aquitaine, Saint Gregory the Great, Saint Isidore, Saint Bede the Venerable, and Saint Anselm. Saint Cyril of Alexandria says this: “Towards the end of time, Our Lord Jesus Christ will effect the reconciliation of His former persecutor Israel with Himself. Everybody who knows Holy Scripture is aware that, in the course of time, this people will return to the love of Christ by the submission of faith…. Yes, one day, after the conversion of the Gentiles, Israel will be converted, and the Jews will be astonished at the treasure they will find in Christ” (Commentary on Genesis, Bk. 5).

Another thought among the Fathers, and it is based on the eleventh chapter of Romans, is the idea that the zeal of the converted Jews will be the occasion of a restoration of the apostate Gentiles, who have despised the rule of Christ the King. Father Fahey speculates that the converted Jews will be heartbroken over their former opposition to Our Lord and His Church, and this contrition will fuel their charity to convert all men." https://catholicism.org/ad-rem-no-310.html

I love the historical roots of my homeland, but am deeply disappointed over the current political landscape, whether Democrat or Republican- at least on the national level.

Apart from my political options as a citizen, the most effective (but often unseen in the short-term) response is prayer. In Christ is our hope and joy! As Ann says above!

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

We all know that converted Jews come under the Covenant. But if they don't convert they no longer have a Covenant and there seems to be a considerable majority of them at this time who are quite uninterested in converting. The Talmud that they declare as their main Scripture insults Our Lord and His Mother in the most vile way. Jews in the future might convert, but why should they be supported now in their unChristian aggression and supremacist ambitions? You quote St Paul-he described them, in their anti-Christian guise, in which they still persist, 'as the enemy of the whole human race'. This never seemed more apt than in the last century or so, starting with their leadership role in the slaughter of the Russian Christian people by the Bolsheviks.

Can you not let your answer to my question be a simple 'yes' or 'no'?

This is a sad and shameful statement by a bishop that is not grounded in Catholic teaching, which is primarily based on a call for peace, as well as a clear manipulation of the entire history of events that led to this war, the Iranian Revolution, and who the real culprit is… This tells me that the bishop is under the influence of the Zionist lobby, which is also clearly shown by his joining Trump’s committee for religious freedom at a time when a Catholic woman stood in clear condemnation of the sin and immoral act of aggression that causes human suffering. Instead of supporting and showing how shepherds stand with their flock, he abandoned the flock, and now it is clear for what reasons.

In early Christianity, there was a sect of heretics who interpreted the New Testament and God as not being the same God as in the Old Testament. To interpret the history of Iran starting from the Iranian Revolution without addressing the overthrow of the prime minister by Britain and the USA in the CIA coup of 1953, and then the funding of Iraq in the war against Iran in the 1980s where around 2 million Iranians were killed, economic sanctions first in the 1950s and then over the last 50 years, the seizure of ships, the killing of their diplomats and scientists, travel bans, and the financing of revolutions…

In the end, Iran is Shiite, and they are the moral side of Islam with a deeply rooted sense of justice, which they demonstrated together with Hezbollah and the Houthis when they were the only ones to raise their voices and take action during the genocide in Gaza. When the imam issued a fatwa that nuclear weapons would not be built, they followed through and kept that promise, as confirmed by U.S. intelligence agencies and by Gabbard under oath in Congress last year…

The only terrorist organizations in the Middle East were Al-Nusra (Al-Qaeda), ISIL, and the Taliban, and all three were financed by the USA and Israel. In the end, Jolani, the current president of Syria, is a member of Al-Qaeda and was welcomed at the White House with a red carpet. This is the same organization that claimed responsibility for the attack on the Twin Towers…

It seems that, according to the bishop, there is no greater proof of Christianity and “liberation” from a regime than when those two countries ( USA and Israel) leading in child trafficking and pedophilia—attack in such a way that they kill 160 little girls at the outset, and then drop 8,000 bombs on you that level everything in their path.

However, one should not forget that Judas sold Christ for 30 pieces of silver, that the Pharisees condemned Him with lies, and that Christ preferred the company of tax collectors, Samaritans, Romans, and the outcasts rather than them.

I must admit that I have never really understood this obsession with converting Jews(
in a violent way, catering to their worldly ambitions)
, especially among Protestants. Let’s look at the facts for a moment. If it was God’s plan—and this is the interpretation of Pope Benedict XVI, who is considered one of the greatest theologians in the history of the Church—that God’s plan has always been the salvation of all people.

If the Catholic Church = the new Israel, which according to the interpretation of the Catholic Church has been the case from the very beginning, and Christ is the new Adam and the complete, final sacrifice between God and humanity who opened eternal salvation to us, then why do we constantly return to the Old Testament???

Pope Benedict is clear: Abraham did not have insight into God’s plan and design, but God, in order to bring salvation to the world, chose to raise the Savior from Abraham’s descendants because of his righteousness. And Abraham is not only the forefather of the Jews, but also of Christians and Muslims.

Christ comes and transforms the laws of Moses—how many times does He say, “Moses told you this, but I tell you this…” If we connect Christ’s words that “my kingdom is not of this world” with what Paul said—that we are Abraham’s heirs through the Spirit, not through blood and flesh…

So, the pinnacle of God’s plan on Earth has always been the Catholic Church and being a Christian, that is, a follower of Christ regardless of nation, region, or background. To be Christ’s means to be chosen. There is nothing beyond this… A Jew who converts can become Christian just as an Iranian who stops being Muslim can. We are all equal there is nothing beyond that…

However, everyone is subject to God’s law, because we are saved not only through faith but also through works and how we live out our faith. Forcing God’s hand by trying to enter His plans and execute them by force, committing injustice, is a grave sin and blasphemy; using evil to violate God’s laws is the twilight of reason and morality. The equivalent of madness would be someone trying to kill the Pope to make the Fatima prophecy come true. You cannot commit or support evil in order to reach God.

Ireland will not fall, not because of the righteousness or unrighteousness of people today, but because of the generations of martyrs who gave their lives for God and the future of Ireland. God does not forget, yet there will be much suffering, for God often brings people back to the right path with the rod. Two modern American saints of Irish descent through their parents were Solanus Casey and Fulton Sheen always proud of their roots and there were many others. I believe that this present time had to happen; we have already seen it from Noah’s time, Sodom and Gomorrah, the fall of the Roman Empire, and the plagues that wiped out half of Europe’s population…

Bishop Barron in his interview with Ben Shapiro missed an opportunity to evangelise when Shapiro asked was he screwed (damned).

All the good bishop had to say was "you need to be baptised".

Jews need baptism not circumcision to be saved.

God made a covenant with Abraham, from whom the Jews still descend, and a covenant at Calvary. When Saint Paul tells us that there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, he is referring to the covenant of Calvary, in which all are grafted in through faith. However, apart from this, there are differences between Jews and Gentiles, especially since, obviously, a practicing Jew cannot be considered part of the Church—the Mystical Body.

The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable, and Saint Paul tells us that they are beloved with respect to election and enemies with respect to the Gospel; therefore, there is a clear distinction between the general concept of election and that of salvation by grace through faith in Christ. This does not mean that we should unconditionally support the secular State of Israel, but rather that we should distance ourselves from groups that follow a radical view of Islam, according to which Jews are regarded as infidels to be fought.

When I see that opposition to the State of Israel has reached an alarming level of antisemitism, attempting to justify episodes of hatred and marginalization of Jews, such as the pogroms in Russia and the Holocaust in Germany, I am immediately reminded of the analogy of the frog in boiling water. It is best to jump out of this while there is still time. Hitler even made use of the conspiracy theory of the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” creating a false equivalence between a supposed group of globalist Jews and the Jewish people as a whole. We all know how that ended.

There's absolutely no doubt that the US is conducting an illegal and immoral war against Iran. Their methods are deceitful - launching attacks while pretending to negotiate, even when the other side has agreed to all their terms. With their arms deals and sponsorship of Islamic terrorism, they are the biggest sponsors of terror in the world. The mask has slipped. The US has become an evil empire. Just as in ancient Rome, not all citizens support the evil but sufficient of them to perpetuate the evil. They act like they believe themselves to be Gods. What's the difference between Caesar declaring himself a God and Trump saying that his only standard is his own morality?

Bishop Barron is just another American cleric, a loyal servant of his secular leader. It is sad to see the effects inculturated Freemasonry is having on the Church in the US. When Henry V111 declared himself to be God's representative, all but one Bishop agreed with him. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Here's what Pope Leo says: https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/...iv-angelus-appeal-peace-middle-east-iran.html
Pope on Iran: Peace not built with mutual threats or death-dealing arms
Pope Leo XIV appeals for nations to recall their moral responsibility to seek peace, as violence escalates in the Middle East after the US and Israel carry out airstrikes on Iran.
    By Devin Watkins

Speaking at the Angelus on Sunday, Pope Leo XIV expressed “deep concern” over recent events in the Middle East and Iran.

“Stability and peace are not built with mutual threats, nor with weapons, which sow destruction, pain, and death, but only through a reasonable, authentic, and responsible dialogue,” he said.
The Pope warned of an immense tragedy if violence escalates out of control.

“Faced with the possibility of a tragedy of enormous proportions,” he said, “I address to the parties involved a heartfelt appeal to assume the moral responsibility to stop the spiral of violence before it becomes an irreparable abyss!”

Pope Leo prayed that nations may return to dialogue in order to seek peace.

“May diplomacy recover its role and may the good of peoples be promoted, peoples who long for peaceful coexistence founded on justice,” he said. “And let us continue to pray for peace.”

On Saturday, Israel and the United States began carrying out joint airstrikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities.

Iran then responded with attacks on Israel and several Gulf countries which host American military bases.

The Jewish covenant is gone. There is only the New Covenant of Christ, which they reject. There is no difference between Jew or Greek-both must be baptised in Christ.

The Old Covenant has come to an end with regard to its ceremonial, liturgical, and mediatory precepts between God and humanity. However, the covenant made with Abraham endures; that is why God speaks of gifts and callings that are irrevocable. The covenant of Calvary with the Church as a whole is eternal, whereas the covenant that God makes with each individual can be broken if the sinner rejects Him, since Catholic theology holds that it is possible to lose salvation through apostasy and transgression of His laws. This was the covenant that the Jews broke when they rejected the Son of God, whereas the covenant with Abraham is the one Paul describes as an irrevocable gift and calling.

I don't think the Abrahamic Covenant leaves Jews with any special privileges, compared to the Gentiles, and Father Harrisson is quite clear that Nostra Aetate says, despite the claims of some, that the Mosaic Covenant is no longer valid. So, if the Jews want to get back under the Covenant that saves, they need to accept Christ.

  13. Luan Ribeiro

    Luan Ribeiro Powers

There is a distinction between two covenants when Saint Paul says that God has by no means rejected His people. In the covenant of Calvary, each individual can be cast out of it if they reject the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There are Christian Zionists who have elevated the Mosaic covenant to a perpetual status, and there are Christians who, shocked by this, have gone to the opposite extreme, claiming that the Jewish people no longer have any share in the gifts and calling of God established through Abraham, and that they will have no special role in the end times.

To be grafted back into Christ, they must accept Our Lord; this cannot be accomplished through weapons in an attempt to hasten the coming of the Messiah. However, Christ, the Lord of history, will allow the chain of events that will lead the Jewish people to accept Him, and this is beyond their control.

Once again, I reiterate that the Jewish ceremonial, liturgical, and priestly covenant has come to an end. In fact, I once stated in the forum that the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD was, in a way, a kind of “end times” event meant to separate the early Church from any remnants of Jewish ceremonial law. Since 2022, I have also been saying that a third Jewish temple would be a trap of the Antichrist.

Jesus said, "When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith on the earth?" And Paul said that all Israel will be saved. The Jews fell so that we could know the light of the Gospel, and at present, we have a great privilege over them in being in communion with the true God. However, at the end of times, with the apostasy of the Gentile nations, the dark reign of the Antichrist, and the death of the two martyred witnesses, we will be in a very critical situation, to the point that our judgment will be as harsh, if not harsher, than the one that befell the Jewish nation in 70 AD. This judgment had terrible consequences for them over many centuries. However, our judgment will coincide with the end of history itself. The judgment of the Jews in 70 AD served as an initial dividing point for the time of the Gentiles, the era in which the Gospel has been preached throughout the earth.

I agree; in that discussion he got caught up in a philosophical bent, but should have called Ben Shapiro on. An opportunity lost, but his homilies and talks of late have a clearer evangelistic bent focused on the person of Jesus Christ. Slowly and I hope surely.
