    From Totus Tuus page:

As spring brings new life and beautiful blooms, the Church invites us to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary throughout the entire month of May. But why May?

The custom of honoring Mary in May has roots stretching back to the Middle Ages. In the 13th century, people began offering special prayers and devotions to Our Lady during this time of year.

By the 18th century, the Jesuits popularized structured May devotions, and it spread rapidly. Pope Pius XII reinforced this beautiful tradition in the 20th century.

May is filled with rich meaning:

It’s a month of renewal and beauty — just like Mary, the Mystical Rose, who brings us closer to the light of Christ

Spring flowers remind us of Mary’s virtues: purity, grace, and gentle strength

Many important Marian events happened in May, including the first apparition of Our Lady of Fatima on May 13, 1917

Mary is our loving Mother and powerful intercessor. This month is a special opportunity to grow closer to her and through her to Jesus.

    -------------------
    This May, let’s:
    Pray the Rosary daily.
Crown Mary in our homes with flowers or prayers.
Offer small acts of love and sacrifice for her intentions.
Consecrate our families to her Immaculate Heart.

“O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels and Queen of the May!”

Oh what a beautiful print of Our Holy Mother! Thank you Dave :)
I remember singing this song as a child in school at Our Lady of Grace school. So many beautiful songs to Our Blessed Mother! Bill and I sometimes do a scriptural rosary online that has some of those older beautiful childhood songs in it.. for anyone interested, here's the link -

I must try and do a May altar this month. I have not done this since I was a child. This place is coming down with beautiful flowers

    I love this thread
Here is a sonnet I wrote many years ago when I returned to the faith--remembering May devotions when I was a child.

May was Mary's month --the month of blue
Of soft processions winding through the light
Of mornings rainwashed sun dried starched and new
Of lilacs twined in wreaths and girls in white
Our dear Mother was our refuge then
Before our rosary beads were tossed in drawers
Before we let the world become our friend
Oh Blessed Lady be our strength once more
Show us the sanctity we had when young
The hope that heaven's home could be obtained
The joy of knowing all our sins were hung
Upon the Cross with Him who bore our pain
Remember oh most gracious Virgin please
Your sinful children back upon our knees.

My daughter Sophia will be crowning Our Lady at our church's May Crowning tomorrow. We were so very touched that Sophie was chosen, as she has been suffering a lot from scruples lately. It is lovely for her to have this special moment with Mary, who has not forgotten her, and will, I hope, cure Sophie of her scruples.

Was having a look on Youtube to see if there were any clips of May processions from the 1960s and 70s in Ireland. A couple came up but these short clips were also there. May processions from 1927 and 1928. The films are by British Pathe but it says the processions were in Inchicore, which is an area of Dublin. Unfortunately, there is no sound to accompany the wonderful films.
