There are 3 beautiful traditional monasteries in the united states. They are all doing very well with the high number of young monks each one has. 1. Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey 2. New Mount Carmel Monastery 3. Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery.
I've been to Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey a couple times. My 4 year old son told me while there that God told him he's going to be a monk. We'll see.
It is wonderful to see new monasteries and convents flourishing. Full of young people. If a monastery or religious community is not getting vocations I suspect it is time for them to ask if they are doing the Will of God. But very often it is the other way around, they blame the young people for not wanting to join.
Monastery of Christ in the Desert is beautiful as well given the surrounding landscape and the wilderness around them. However, their not a traditional monastery.
Monastery of Christ in the Desert is located in New Mexico. Ill try and find a nice photo, but i was trying to put photos of the othe monasteries but on first try the file was to big and would not allow it
Monastery of Christ in the desert. To get there you need to drive down a 14 mile dirt road. They are located right along the Chama River in New Mexico. According to the light pollution map online it shows it would be excellent star gazing at night there
Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery. In the mountainous region of southern New Mexico. Yep thats snow. Lol. Even though they almost border Mexico they are 7,000 feet above sea level. So in the winter sometimes there is snow
Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey. Yet another remote beautiful monastery you can stay at. A very traditional monastery located in Oklahoma in the foot hills of the Ozark mountains.
