I know there are a lot of people who don't use Facebook, I don't do a lot on it myself these days. I saw earlier that the posts from 'Learn Latin' are also on Instagram and X (formerly twitter) if anyone would be interested in seeing them there.

From Ars et Memoria Fb page:

    "Bene tibi sapiat!

How do you say "Bon appetit" in Latin?
One popular way is Bene tibi sapiat!
    Bene: Well
    Tibi: To/for you
Sapiat: May it taste (the present subjunctive of sapere)
Literally, "May it taste well to you!" It's a wonderful phrase to use at the dinner table to bring a bit of Roman flair to your meal."

A visit to the Dentist this morning, in the area of Dublin in which I grew up,
provided a few encounters with Latin.
On the way to the appointment I walked past the well known Synge Street secondary school and noticed the motto on their school crest is 'Viriliter Age'. I had a look when I got home and it translates as "Live Manfully."
Immediately beside the school is St. Kevin's Church, Harrington Street, one of the few Churches in Dublin where the Latin Mass is available. It was past the time for Mass but I did go into the Church after the appointment and spent some time there.
There was no one else in the Church at the time apart from the organist who was practicing some beautiful music, including Bring Flowers of the Fairest, the traditional Catholic hymn to the Blessed Mother, Queen of the May.
I also had time to say several Hail Mary's in Latin at the beautiful side altar.
From there I walked down to the Newman University Church on Stephen's Green where there is daily Mass at 1.05pm. I haven't been there in many years (one of my cousins was married there about 26 years ago) and had forgotten how beauiful it is inside.
It's usually referred to as the University Church but I saw that the proper title is Church of Our Lady Seat of Wisdom.
Over the altar there is a wonderful half dome with a painting showing the Sedes Sapientiae (Seat of Wisdom).
If you're ever visiting Dublin, I think this Church would be well worth going to.
