From the Totus Tuus Fb page today: "St. Anthony of Padua (1195–1231) performed many miracles, but one story perfectly shows how the name of Jesus brings truth and justice in even the most impossible situations—it will truly blow your mind. A wealthy man accused his innocent wife of infidelity after she gave birth, threatening to disown both her and the baby. Desperate, she brought the child to St. Anthony. With bold faith, Anthony turned to the infant and said: “In the name of Jesus Christ, speak and tell who your father is!” Miraculously, the baby spoke for the first time: “This is my father!” (pointing to the man) The husband fell to his knees in repentance, embraced his family, and peace was restored. ----- Philippians 2:9-11 reminds us: “God exalted Him and gave Him the name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.” Whatever impossible situation you face today—conflict, lies, or hurt—call on Jesus’ name with faith. There is power in it that changes hearts and restores lives. Have you seen the power of Jesus’ name in your life? Share your story below!"
From Totus Tuus page today: "On the eve of the Feast of the Assumption, St. Anthony of Padua struggled with doubts about whether the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken body and soul into Heaven. He prayed earnestly for light and clarity. In response, Our Lady appeared to him in a beautiful vision. She assured him that she was indeed assumed into Heaven—body and soul—and urged him to defend and proclaim this profound truth. St. Anthony obeyed with zeal. He preached and wrote powerfully about the Assumption, using rich scriptural imagery. Centuries later, when Pope Pius XII solemnly defined the Dogma of the Assumption in 1950, he highlighted St. Anthony’s exceptional contributions to this teaching. This powerful story reminds us that Mary, the Mother of God, is our greatest intercessor. Her Assumption is a sign of hope for all of us — where she has gone, we hope to follow, through the grace of her Son. “The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.” (Munificentissimus Deus) Queen assumed into Heaven, pray for us!"
For us, the feast of Saint Anthony is the most popular celebration after Our Lady, Easter, and Christmas. In my parish of about 20,000 people, huge numbers gather today. There are seven Masses, from early dawn until 6 p.m., held outdoors in a large courtyard, and the whole place is as crowded as a train station. People walk as much as 30 kilometers from the towns and villages where they live. We had twelve Tuesdays of preparation leading up to the feast of Saint Anthony, and then a nine-day novena before the feast, with a different guest priest each day. They say that Saint Anthony is the saint of the whole world, perhaps the most renowned saint in history. When people pray, they sometimes say: "Dear Jesus, please tell Saint Anthony to help me
Happy feastday St Anthony!! He has never failed me! It is also the anniversary of the final appearance in Fatima, of our Dear Mother, I'm pretty sure!
