Medjugorje will have its 45th anniversary June 24th. 45 years is a long time of apparitions.

Given the age of the visionaries things must be drawing to an end soon.

    • Vicka Ivanković: Born Sept. 3, 1964 → 61 years old
    • Marija Pavlović: Born April 1, 1965 → 61 years old
    • Mirjana Dragičević: Born March 18, 1965 → 61 years old
    • Ivan Dragičević: Born May 25, 1965 → 61 years old
    • Ivanka Ivanković: Born July 21, 1966 → 59 years old

But I suppose of they live to be 80 it still gives and 19 years or so. It was amazing them grow from children until now. Watching them become saints.

Viska and Mirjana strike me as saintly.

It must have been hard on them being in the public eye all the time, constantly under a microscope. All the gossip, all the slander. Awful.

A Parish near me has a religios library with this book of interviews from the Medjugorje visionaries. The book is from the early 1980s In the book Mirijana was asked how long Satan has power. She said part in this century( the 20th century) snd part in next century (the 21st century). Way back then she was correct. How long is (part)? I dont know

She did not fall for the millenial trap and say at the end of the 20th century something will happen like so many others were saying years back.

The first time I ever heard of Medjugorje was back in 1986. It meant very little to me at the time. I had suffered a nervous breakdown the previous year and entered a hellish world I never knew existed. I had given up my faith several years before that and was a I suppose a scientific materialist. I don't know what caused the nervous breakdown, possibly overwork, possibly deep seated guilt or shame. The symptoms were extreme paranoia - but to me they were not in anyway imaginary, but a factual reality. I also had PTSD like symptoms, being very startled by loud noises and revving of car, bus and lorry engines. I went privately to a psychiatrist but was never on any medication for it. I had felt called to the priesthood but had not answered the call and then lost my faith. I suppose the devil was like a lion on the prowl and I was fair game. During one of the sessions with the psychiatrist, to my suprise he showed me a photograph. He told me that it had been taken in a place called Medjugorje a couple of weeks earlier. It showed a crowd of people and above them was what looked like the figure of a lady with an orangy glow emanating from her, almost the colour of a flame. I had no idea what I was looking at nor had I ever heard of Medjugorje. I was surprised that a psychiatrist should be religious in any way or that he should bring it up in a therapy session. Nevertheless, the memory of the image of the photograph and the name 'Medjugorje' stayed with me. It was only many years later that I became somewhat aware of the story of Medjugorje. Our Lady of Medjugorje, pray for us!

P.S. I did eventually recover although it took me many, many years, possibly a decade or more to do so.

Such a nightmare to have gone through.. But a cross carried for Our Lord for sure!
I remember my father (RIP) coming to my house all excited that Our Lady was appearing daily to 6 children in Yugoslavia. He gave me the books on Medjugorje and it changed my life. It was such a blessing! I started fasting etc. at that point. My better half went to Medjugorje in 1991, just before the war got going over there and I don't think ol' red legs liked any of this.
