Many are aware that Conchita was summoned to the Vatican in 1966 for questioning, but this is also a little known fact, so was Jacinta Gonzalez. “It was recently learned that in December of 1975 Garabandal Visionary Jacinta Gonzalez (now Monahan) visited Rome to commemorate the Holy year and while there, was summoned for questioning by Vatican officials in regard to the Spanish apparitions which lasted from 1961 through 1965. Details of the meeting, other than the fact that Jacinta’s integrity left a very favorable impression, are confidential at this time. June 13, 1978 SUN IN THE SHAPE OF A CROSS SEEN AT GARABANDAL ! On June 13,1978 at approximately 5 :30pm, A group of pilgrims from Great Britain were praying at the grove of Pine trees, and all of a sudden one of them said “ Look at the Sun ! “ 32 of the pilgrims observed the Sun in the shape of a cross while others saw it turn into a silver disk which spun rapidly, others saw it change into different colors such as blue and green, sometimes within another circle. June 15, 1976 The former Pastor of Garabandal gives his first interview in 1976. FR. VALENTIN MARICHALR INTERVIEW On June 15, 1976, in Garabandal, the magazine "Needles" had the privilege and honor of being able to interview Father Valentim Marichalar, parish priest of the village of Garabandal at the time of the apparitions between 1961 and 1965. This was his first public interview , having been for some years prevented from discussing these matters. Question: Have you ever asked Our Lady to give you a sign as proof? Reply: “Yes. Our Lady gave it to me herself one day at 1am. I was quite tired and said to myself: "Well, Let the Virgin clarify this for me. I can't go on like this much longer." I asked that if all this be true, that one of the girls would come to me this very night while I was sleeping to wake me up and kiss the crucifix. After that, I went to bed thinking, "Let's see how this is clarified." . In the middle of the night, at 4 am, Mari-Loli, in ecstasy, accompanied by the writer Sanchez Ventura and a small group of people, knocked on my bedroom door. When I opened the door, she turned to face me, smiled at me, still in ecstasy. and then extended the crucifix she held for me to kiss. This was a very clear sign for me. Then too, how did she know which room I was in since the hall had four doors, all identical ? I was in the third one, the one she knocked on. How did she know I was in there?”
Glenn, thanks again for the anecdotes you share here on the forum. They speak not only to the truthfulness of the apparitions but also to the obedience demanded of us by Holy Church. There have been times, especially at events such as Confirmation, when a person approaches to receive Holy Communion in a confused fashion, unsure what to do, which causes me hesitation as to how to respond. Are they even Catholic? For any individual, to receive the Lord in the Eucharist is the most profound of experiences, no matter the frequency of approaching the altar. The State of Grace is of the utmost importance. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
June 16,2002 Padre Pio is Canonized by Pope John Paul II. Both of these Saints were Garabandal believers and supporters. Padre Pio’s testimony guarantees the authenticity of the apparitions, as he could read souls and was never incorrect. His reputation is unquestioned. Garabandal is the only apparition I know of that had 6 Saints believe and support it : ( Saints Padre Pio, Pope John Paul II, Pope Paul VI, Mother Teresa, Jose Marie Escriva, Madre Maravillas.) As another confirmation from St. Padre Pio, when he died, he left Conchita one of his bloodied gloves, a Veil from his wake, and his personal rosary ! That my friends is the greatest compliment and reassurance of Conchita and her testimony that I can think of.
June 17 1965 “ The Apparitions of Garabandal “ by Francisco Sanchez-Ventura Accompanied by Fr. Luna, a zealous priest from Saragossa, I arrived at Garabandal at 2 p.m. on June 17th. The village was packed with cars from many countries. It was no easy matter to find room to park. I abandoned my car in a narrow street which it virtually blocked, thanking my stars that, fortunately in San Sebastian de Garabandal there were no traffic police and, for the time being, no parking rules. "The village was packed with cars from many countries . . ." We walked round the streets, greeting acquaintances. We first of all met the Marques and Marquesa de Santa Maria. Not far behind them was Mary Loli. Fr. Luna, who was on his first visit to Garabandal, had a chance to talk to her. We admired her simplicity, her sweetness, her charm, that affable, amazingly natural welcome so characteristic of the four girls. We had been chatting with Mary Loli for a while when Mary Cruz came up. They both accompanied us to church. Coming out of the church we saw Jacinta. Fr. Luna spoke to her for a moment, until we left them all besieged by pilgrims. We then made our way to Conchita's house. We had heard she was ill in bed. This piece of news had given rise to very varied comments. Many thought it was an excuse since she had committed herself by announcing the apparition. But the truth of the matter was that Conchita had had a heavy cold for two days, and that very morning she had had a temperature of 101°. She felt better in the afternoon, however, and got up. When we reached her house, she was chatting amicably with a party of visitors, sitting on the bench by the door. "Do you expect to see the Virgin?" one asked. "No, not the Virgin; only the Angel," she replied, her manner very natural. "And what if there's no apparition?" "The Virgin can't tell a lie." "Are you sure, then?" "Of course, I'm quite sure." And she smiled, calm yet gay, puzzled that anyone should have misgivings about the apparition on the following day. I was taken aback by Conchita's astounding memory on that occasion. The pilgrim with whom she was talking remarked that this was his second visit. JUNE 18, 1965 - on the 4th Anniversary of his first visit, St. Michael delivers the Blessed Mother’s second and most important message. “ As my message of October 18 has not been complied with and has not been made known to the world, I am advising you that this is the last one. Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over. Many cardinals, many bishops and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them. Less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist. You should turn the wrath of God away from yourselves by your efforts. If you ask His forgiveness with sincere hearts, He will pardon you. I, your mother, through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel, ask you to amend your lives. You are now receiving the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation. Pray to us with sincerity and we will grant your requests. You should make more sacrifices. Think about the passion of Jesus.”
JUNE 18, 2014 - Today marks the 12th Anniversary of Joey Lomangino's passing. I could write pages of what an enormous blessing it was to meet Joey and get a healing from his "kissed" medal, first as a boy, then 20 years later, and start working with him in 1993, becoming friends with him, getting to know his family, and all the spiritual lessons he taught, always with a smile and laughter. I treasured all 20 + years I knew him. What makes me smile everyday is how not only this page has grown, but expanded into 17 languages around the world, knowing he is watching, and knows his life's work continues everyday here, with his blessing, since 2009. Isn't it amazing how one blind man, with the help and faith in God and our Blessed Mother , changed so many lives around the world, and spread Mary’s message. I’m sure Joey looks down upon us surrounded by the Holy family, and Saint Pio. We have another advocate in Heaven to pray to. I ask all of you to remember Joey and his family in your prayers today. God bless you Joey, your apostolate lives on in all of us, and on all our pages.
THIS DAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY JUNE 19, 1961 (The first appearance of St. Michael to the 4 girls, was on June 18,1961) The next day the young girls went back to at the same time, and the same spot to wait for the angel. They recited the rosary at the calleja, but he did not show up. At 10:00pm, while the girls were beginning their evening prayers, each one heard in HER OWN ROOM, A VOICE SAYING “ YOU WILL SEE ME AGAIN “. -------------------------------------------------------------------- JUNE 19,1962 - The girls are given a vision the future possible “ Chastisement “. THIS DAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY June 20,1962 This is the second night in a row that the girls experience the foreshadowing of the future possible “ Chastisement”,” KNOWN AS THE NIGHT OF SCREAMS" They all raise their hands as to push away the vision. The terror is so great, they are heard to say “ Oh please let the children die before this happens”. This event so terrifies the entire village, that the entire village goes to confession and communion the next day !
