Church leaders in India have welcomed the Vatican's decision to add the feast of St. Teresa of Kolkata to the universal liturgical calendar, saying it will help Catholics across the globe emulate the nun's sense of service to the poor. "This is a great recognition and appreciation of her work for the poorest of the poor and the abandoned men, women and children," Archbishop Thomas D'Souza of Calcutta told UCA News on Feb.19. The archbishop was responding to the Feb. 11 Vatican decree that said Pope Francis had added the saintly nun to the liturgical calendar, making the feast day Sept. 5, the day of her death in 1997. The Vatican decision "would also provide a tremendous boost to the work of her congregation — the Missionaries of Charity — in all corners of the world," D'Souza said. Father Benedict Groeshel knew St Teresa quite well as I worked with her when she was in New York. She went through the most terrible , terrible Dark Night for most of her life. But the Father said that not long before her death it was lifted and he speaks of her being joyful and joyous like a little child. That you could see with your own eyes it happening. Mother Teresa died of her heart failing. When she was in a hospital in Calcutta was there at the same time. The devil actually physically attacked her as she led in bed and the Archbishop had to go down from his won hospital bed to do a special blessing to chase him off. Teresa was such a warrior. She reminds me we are, all of us, in a Great Spiritual Battle.
From Totus Tuus Fb page: Marcilio Andrino, a young engineer, was dying. A viral infection had filled his brain with multiple abscesses and fluid. He was in a coma. Doctors prepared him for emergency surgery. His wife, Fernanda, had received a relic of Mother Teresa on September 5 — the anniversary of her death. She prayed with everything she had. When the surgeon returned after a delay, Marcilio was awake. He looked at the doctor and asked, “What am I doing here?” The fluid was gone. The abscesses had shrunk. Days later, scans showed no scar tissue. He walked out of the hospital. Later, against medical odds, he and Fernanda had children. Pope Francis recognized this healing in 2015. On September 4, 2016, Mother Teresa was declared a saint. The greater miracle, though, was never one healing. It was a small Albanian nun who spent her life seeing Jesus in the poorest of the poor — and teaching the world that we do not need to do great things. We only need to do small things with great love. St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us. Amen!

Saint “Mother“ Teresa, Garabandal, and Conchita The famous Foundress of the Missionaries of Charity has never expressed any doubts about her profound belief in the divine origin of Garabandal: "It was in 1970 that I heard about the apparitions of San Sebastian de Garabandal for the first time . . . From the beginning, I felt that the 'events' were authentic . . ." (Letter of November 10, 1987 to Msgr. Del Val). During her frequent trips to the United States, notably to New York, Mother Teresa had the opportunity of meeting Conchita who has lived on Long Island since 1972. This was the beginning of a strong human and spiritual friendship with Conchita and her family, that never faltered. Personally , it speaks volumes to me about the authenticity of the apparitions, that her two closest friends were St. Pio & St. Teresa.
