The good Catholic takes on the Mind, the perennial Teachings of the Church. Not what we might feel to be right from our own thoughts and feelings. The Teaching of the Church is that Capital Punishment is acceptable as is recourse to War. This is the Teaching of the Church which should be the Mind of the Faithful Catholic. A Pope and Pope is to confirm and protect the Deposit of the Faith, not to attempt to change it. Sign. Sometimes I am tempted to despair.
I was following Pope Leo's visit to Spain, and I got the impression that he bears a strong resemblance to Pope John Paul I, the "Smiling Pope."
Interesting. I wonder what Patriarch Bartholomew means exactly by the restoration of full communion with Rome?
I think he is waiting for a new development in Synodality that would seek to reassess the theological interpretation of the Primacy of Peter.
I saw a really wonderful homily from Fulton Sheen this morning about Judas in the highest places: He was so prophetic:
Coincidentally, my wife and I spoke this evening about JPI, before I came across your post. We both agreed that there was something highly suspicious about his death. The present incumbent of the papacy has already survived a whole lot longer…
Interesting that nobody on the forum (myself included) mentioned that the 14th September was also Pope Leo's birthday or sent good wishes. Does this tell us something? It's a strange time indeed...I would love to be able to give him my support but I have an uneasy feeling that Padraig's early assessmenr of him was not far off the mark. A recent edition of Anthony Stine's podcast suggested that there are concerning things about his time in Peru (some of which are continuing) that will soon come to light. It seems like it won't be good news...we'll wait and see.
Cardinal Burke’s Faith and Family group celebrates novenas of Masses all year long. One of the intentions for the latest novena was to give graces to Pope Leo on his birthday, September 14. It was a dual novena for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and Our Lady of Sorrows. I enroll my intentions in every one of them. They are powerful. I suggest each one of us seek out these Masses. Daily novena prayers are sent to your inbox during the novenas. catholicaction.org
I have sent many intentions to these over the years as well and concur that they are powerful! I've had some very clear and direct answers to my petitions.
