We just have to go through the suffering, I believe. I have been praying to Saint Teresa of Avila and find her very helpful. "Everything passes. God alone suffices."
Have been doing better the past week thank God. I'm afraid that the terrible suffering will come back but trying to take it as it comes and trust in God. Thanks for your prayers. They are helping!
I am still praying for you every day Peter. One thing I find in my own Spiritual Life might help you. I find from time to time that the devil tempts me to believe that my entire spiritual life is an illusion. That I am a hypocrite and just pretending to myself that I am religious, that it is all an illusion. This can be a real trial as of course if we are fooling ourselves we would be the very last to know. Everyone in the World would know we were false except for ourselves. So it is a kind of catch 22 situation. The devil knows this and wants us to be running about kind of trying to catch our own tail. I spoke to a young priest in confession one time and he appeared confused. He asked me if I was keeping the ten commandments as well as I could? Was I praying? Was I going to Mass? At the end he told me he did not know what I was worried about , so long as I was trying to do what the Church asked that I do. This was a good answer. But the best answer I ever found when the devil tells me I am going to hell is this. I turn round and say, very well than if my spiritual life is a disaster, alright. Let me begin today and try to do better. I find this a great reassurance. But anyway every time we make a good confession it is a new beginning. This should be a great reassurance.
Suffering a bit of a spiritual attack at the moment but trusting that it will pass. I've started to try and do Adoration daily if possible and finding it helpful!
I was just listening to Fulton Sheen on video there now saying without our own Good Friday we will never know an Easter. Praying for you now Peter. The Sorrowful mysteries are my favourite. Mother of Sorrows, pray for us.
