Sometimes a retreat is a really good thing. Especially when the world is in chaos. Oh how I love Holy Hour in front of Jesus.
You and me both. But as Jesus said to the apostles (and now to us)as they cried out in the storm while He slept " how is it you Have no faith?"
Yes miker your posts resonate with me. It deeply saddens me that so many blindly are cooperating with death of their souls. I wish I could scoop humanity into the ark of life. The world we live in is no longer recognizeable, I find myself looking upwards more often. Prayers for our children, grandchildren the world is rapidly becoming what we prayed against and they must be the stronghold for our God and our faith.
I'm also upset with the election results, but to tell you the truth, the temptation to vote your wallet and set aside principles is very tempting. Generally, I evaluate based mostly on the party platforms and hope the individual candidates adhere. Trump tends not to follow Party lines, but mostly presents what he feels will get himself elected. Either way, representative government fails when the underlying population is amoral and only considering only their pocketbook.
"And maybe two things can be true at the same time. I can want to stand with Jesus and still recognize how easily I turn away from Him. I guess that’s the struggle of being human." Miker, amazing posts. I know they are written out of pain and frustration but deeply insightful. I am struggling with what you said above. I recently read an incident about Caryll Houselander, how she had this mystical experience in which she saw everyone as Christ and it lasted for a day or two! When asked about it later on she said, and this deeply hit me, it doesn't keep me from sinning. Wow. And the same for me! I pray and I attempt to break vices of sin, I want to do it for the glory of God, to be His vessel, to do His will, yet I fall continually. I stumble on my own pride, my ego, my will, I keep turning away from Him! In my fantastic failures I am realizing this is where the good fight is and it will never end until I am called to judgment. Thank goodness for the sacraments of confession and holy communion! The election is dark. The storm clouds are no longer in the distance but are now upon us. But like with Church news I have grown weary of it, my obsessing about it wasn't making me a holier person. Like you said in a previous post, are we in the ark? Are my loved ones there? Are my neighbors there? St. James, intercede for us all here on the forum for this great grace to be little lights leading not only ourselves but others to God's splendid ark, our Holy Mother Church.
I am in such a better place tonight. The depression melted away during the rosary, and after reading some messages of Jesus to Sr. Lucia of Fatima, it dawned on me that I'd been forgetting today that even the most hardened, radical Leftists or even Freemasons are loved by Christ, who desires our sacrifices to earn them His Mercy. He's counting on us, so that He can save them. That changes the whole perspective, away from myself and how I want the world to be. Funny how when I stop thinking about myself, the negative feelings just evaporate away.
