Tomorrow I’m going on plant a cucumber seed and two carrot seeds, and so, like my medieval ancestors of old, I’d like prayers for these plants to do well and bear a bountiful harvest. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
The cucumber and carrot seeds are in the ground, and I also planted one of my potatoes as well. The rest of the potatoes I’ll plant later when they green more; I also need some more pots and soul to plant them and my pots currently still at my parents’ place, so I’ll have to wait for them. Hopefully I’ll get everything I need soon, and the be able to plant more things, it’s amazing how quickly things are growing here, truly the Lord works things better than we can.
Something is wrong with my garden box out front, as far as I know, nothing is growing, not the cucumbers, not the carrots, not even the potatoes; the only thing that seems to be growing in my garden, is the green onions which I transplanted after re-growing them in a glass of water for about 10 or 11 days, they’re doing well, but everything else seem to just be inactive, Please keep up your prayers, I’m hoping tomorrow that my dad will arrive with the soil I need to fill my other plant pots, as I have a lot of sprouting potatoes that seem to be overdue for planting.
My cucumbers have got a fungus infection in their leaves. I’ve been spraying them with a fungicide every evening (because if you spray them in the the daylight of a hot, sunny day it could burn their leaves) but they aren’t doing too well. The one that’s faring the worst is actually largest and fastest growing of the three; it’s now wilting badly. Please pray that my cucumber plants survive and recover.
Would you mind posting a picture? I took a class in plant pathology and am interested in amateur diagnostics.
Don't be discouraged RW. We are having a difficult time with our gardens too. Cut worms and woodchuck. Some things just not coming very well. Is the fungus on your cucumbers powdery mildew? We have had trouble with this with our squash. My husband trellises the squash last year keeping it off the ground. This seemed to help.
I’m pretty sure it’s powdery mildew, it started off as white blotches and now is large yellow patches. My larger cucumber plant is almost gone, please pray that it recovers but if it doesn’t; well, I was planning on planting a strawberry bush there next year, maybe I’ll get started this year.
From what I’ve read online, a solution that’s half milk and half water could help if sprayed liberally to the leaves.
