There is a wonderful, very old country man called Tom I have gotten to know from Daily Mass at Church the last way. He is in his nineties and fit as a fiddle and I can see from looking at him that he has a very strong life force burning within him like a candle flame . Even if I could not have seen the flame I would have guessed it by his great age and health. But a few weeks ago I was disconcerted to see that the life flame within, the candle was flickering and as though in deep shadow. A couple of weeks later Tom reported to me that he is to go into hospital for a wide ran of tests and scans and it looks like his illness may be terminal. This made me think of the life force, the candle or flame of life which a ll living things have. What is it? Every living thing has within it a kind of flame or fire of life for some very,very strong for others less so. Some good examples of this: Have you ever watched a little of new born puppies? I often have. One pup is called the , 'Runt'. This is the puppy with the lowest life force. It usually dies. Each puppy has been endowed with a different flame of life force. So the puppy you want to buy is the one with the greatest flame. It is quite obvious when you look at the litter the best pup has the strongest life force it will be up and at them kind of puppy. When people talk of a , 'Bouncy baby' , I think this is what they often mean, it is a baby with an exceptionally strong life force. Of it you like gardening you might plant a group of bulbs that look exactly the same but in Spring they come up and one shines out over all the rest in beauty and strength and vigour. That is the one were the fame burns strongest. Or again you might cross a field and meet a century old Oak Tree that is magnificent. There burns the flame strong. A good example of someone with a very strong life force you all know is President Trump. Someone who has such a strong inner flame is not necessarily a good person or bad person they just burn more fiercely with the inner force of life. All things being equal they will live a long life. On the other hand people with a weak flame , all things being equal will die young. I watched a young couple going up the street the other week with sadness, His force was fairly strong ; hers was very ,very weak. One of the weakest I have ever seen. One thing I notice from Modernist heretics in the Church is a kind of Theological Communism. They assume that everyone is nice and everyone is that same . But they are not. Everyone and everything is different including with the Inner Flame, the Life Force. Isaiah 42:5 5 This is what God the LORD says— the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it:
