I woke at 4am - hard to get back to sleep

Prayed Our Father slowly and was struck by the phrase 'hallowed be thy name'.

Then I thought what is God's name?

    Abba, Father?

Jesus said to baptise in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

    Hallowed by Thy name.

Thanks for sharing... very reflective. I thought of God answering Moses on Mt. Sinai when he ask whom do i tell the people who sent me. God said tell them "I AM"'sent you. I believe in Hebrew this is "Yaweh". And the Jews to thus day will not even say or print the name if God. And I love in NT how Jesus also calls himself I Am. I forget where in Bible, but Jesus tells the Jews before Abraham was both, I AM. Then they tried to stone Him.

And yet Jesus invites us to know this same God intimately as Father by calling Him Abba... Our Father

The eternal I AM allows us to call Him Father... even more personal Daddy (Abba). Pretty amazing when you stop and pray those words slowly.

I think garabandal was making reference not so much to the Lord's Prayer, but to the baptismal formula joined to the pouring of water during Baptism by which the soul is hallowed.:)

I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!

Sanctus "Jesus I trust in you!"

Today I've been pondering Jesus's words in the Gospel "love one another as I have loved you."

I was thinking and praying about this yesterday. It is wonderful not to know anything and then wait for the Holy Spirit to instruct and guide. Also the Holy Spirit down different roads, all of them true.

I was thinking, back in the day how the use of a Name gave the person power over something or someone. So much so that in some cultures they had hidden secret names no on else would ever know as a form of protection. For Native Americans in some tribes when they reached a certain age they wandered out into the Wilderness to discover their names. A name was who they were ,so to speak.

So I can see why the Ancient Jews were wary of using the name of God.. It implied having power or control over God. It maybe made God seem less or a possession. To imply we understand something we really do not.

Nowadays we say God so lightly. That is why when I go into a Church I take so much trouble to Genuflect. God does not need reminding how Holy He is. But I do.
