A Decision I thought I wouldn't make

Terry - thank you for in such a public way taking us through your discernment of what you will do. It’s a beautiful example of how to approach hard decisions- prayers, research, counsel , reflection and then as you said conviction, peace and trust in the Lord! I think that the Lord is pleased with you. Will keep you , your patients, your Bishop in prayers. Peace.

I was recently vaccinated (two doses of Moderna), and I currently have no regrets, whatsoever. Besides, it's has become a requirement for those like myself, who are NYC public employees, that refusal to do so will require one to be tested on a weekly basis. I think that's a perfectly legitimate mandate to be imposed on those who resist vaccination. My question to you is this: Does your conscience address the possibility that you are at higher risk of becoming infected and thereby, of infecting others? If the honest answer is YES, that dramatically weakens the argument against vaccination because by not complying, you potentially become a greater health threat to those you purportedly wish to serve and interact with. So who really is in a "state of denial" here?

So being double vaccinated means you can't catch covid and you can't spread covid??? If that's what you think or are promoting well I would suggest looking in the mirror to see if your turning into an ostrich..
Even the tone of your post "resisting the vaccine" is way off a Christian attitude seriously friend pause rewind and look at your demeanor. I think the only state that is in denial is the one you work for (y)

Look at the cases of covid in two of the most vaccinated countries in the world, Israel and Iceland both covid hotspots and the former has one of the highest rates of covid in the world in August 2021. Proof that the vaccinated both get infected and spread covid.

A groundbreaking preprint paper by the prestigious Oxford University Clinical Research Group, published Aug. 10 in The Lancet, includes alarming findings devastating to the COVID vaccine rollout.

The study found vaccinated individuals carry 251 times the load of COVID-19 viruses in their nostrils compared to the unvaccinated.

So, the vaccinated spread covid because they carry a higher viral load.

You could be carrying covid asymptomatically and spreading it to others without knowing it.

Time for any virtue signalling 'double vaxxed 'to come down off their pedestals.

I know I have mentioned this before in a previous thread but I too received both Pfizer vaccinations with the last one received in April. I did this because of my elderly parents. Though my mom is doing great with her health (probably healthier than me), my father has a very poor immune system. They live 80 miles away from me and I hadn't spent any time with them in about 9 months which was truly breaking my heart. I also have some health conditions which made me a very high risk person. There was a lot of pressure from my family so as a result I gave in. I noticed about 2 weeks after my second shot, I ended up with a great deal of pain in the joints of my hips, knees and ankles. Also the bones in between my legs were also in a great deal of pain. Sometimes I couldn't even sleep at night and walking was somewhat painful. I also had other symptoms that were starting to scare me. I lasted like this for nearly a month, maybe a little bit more. I'm not sure whether it was the vaccine but it sure was interesting timing.
Do I regret it? Sometimes I do. Do I push it on others? Absolutely not. I refuse to be one of those persons who guilts someone into doing something they don't feel good about. It is a personal decision for EVERYONE. My son who was unvaccinated and ended up with COVID was around several family members (some vaccinated and some not) and through the grace of God, none of us were infected. I know of a couple of people who were vaccinated and still died of COVID. People who are vaccinated are still getting COVID and are spreading it so bottom line, I don't believe the unvaccinated are a greater health threat to others around them. I think that is the narrative by those who are trying to push the vaccination down everyone's throat.

I hope that you and your colleagues remain safe and well. This might be a good time for you to contact your doctor and ask him what treatment, if any, he will provide should you contract the virus. And keep an eye on the compensation statistics in various countries, just in case you'll need that kind of data in the future.

  8. I clicked on the article you posted, and clicked on to the study that the article is based on. The author of the article read the study wrong. Here is a quote from the actual study...

"Delta variant infection cases were 251 times higher than those of cases infected with old strains detected between March-April 2020."

So vaccinated, Delta variant positive individuals carry 251 time the viral load as those who contracted Covid of the old variant...

This study shows among breakthrough cases only, the Delta variant carries a higher viral load for the individual. It is comparing the old variant to the new one, not vaccinated vs unvaccinated infected with the same variant.

    Read the study itself below...

    Thanks for that.

But still proves the point that the vaccinated get infected with covid and spread covid.

  10. Yes, true.

It is a matter of if the vaccination lowers the possibility of getting and transmitting the virus. I believe it does, based on the studies that have been published.

Thanks for such a personal and heartfelt post. And I agree in the end, it should be a personal health decision that we all make based upon our situations and discernment. It remains so frustrating to me that unlike so many other medical decisions we make, the facts and information on COVID- vaccines, immunity, antibodies and treatments are all being skewed to a narrative that vaccines are the only answer. And while I do my best to not put on my “tin foil hat” ;) , I wonder what is going on that this narrative keeps on perpetuating?

How do you explain Israel's ten thousand cases a day? - this is the most they have had at any time during the pandemic. Over 90 percent rate of vaccination.

In fact some countries (Portugal & Sweden) are so concerned that they have banned Israelis (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) from coming into their countries.

thanks for your post… and I’m not intending here to be argumentative….I’m really trying to understand ….if the vaccine lowers getting and transmitting virus, would we not see in those countries and even US states that have higher vaccine rates to have lower rates of infection? Vice-versa… in countries, like India, Brazil and I’m assuming most of the Third World where vaccination rates are low, would we not see big increases in hospitalizations and death? I may be missing it but, I don’t think I’ve seen that once the initial wave passes.

again…please do not take my questions the wrong way…trying to simply understand. Peace

Yes, garabandal, that is most noteworthy and consequently troubling.:( With this back-and-forth disagreement between faithful Catholics, I am reminded of the disagreement between Paul and Barnabas as they prepared for their second missionary journey, they disputed whether or not to bring along Timothy; Barnabas was pro and Paul was the naysayer. Well, they split and went their separate ways: Barnabas took Mark to Cyprus and Paul selected Silas to join him. Later, Paul, in Rome, asks Timothy to bring Mark along, saying:

2Timothy 4: Luke is only with me. Take Mark and bring him with thee, for he is useful to me for the ministry.

As the world's noose tightens around us in the next few years, there will be plenty of opportunity for agreement.:)

Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!

Hi Malachi. I guess it's my turn to be confused. In the post you are reacting to, I didn't quote any Scripture. What exactly were you confused about? I don't want to ignore your concern.

  20. No offense taken at all.

I think when pondering the statistics that one has to consider which strain is widespread at the time.

The Delta and Delta+ variants are far more likely to produce a high viral load than the 1st strain...

So infection rates will naturally be higher. The vaccines seem to be less effective against the new strains in producing a vigorous immune response as well.

So consider the strain and timing of the virus infecting the population when looking at the statistics.
