About every three months I get an email from our local Congresswoman where she provides updates on various bills she supported and/or voted for. I was really pleased to see that one of the bills that made it through Congress and Trump signed into law provides monies to local pregnancy centers and was one she actually sponsored! It's great to hear good news! This week, the House passed my legislation, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act. This bill codifies states’ ability to use Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds to support pregnancy resource centers that provide essential services, including prenatal care, parenting education, counseling, ultrasounds, and material assistance. These centers serve women with dignity and compassion, especially during some of life’s most challenging moments.
I don't know if I ever mentioned that my wonderful wife manged such a center for 5 years that was established by St. Ann, Mother of Mary Parish in Mexico, NY.
