It would be great if I can see the photo. The photo will not open but lately the MOG site has been having difficulties. sometimes I will respond only to have the system tell me I'm not authorized to comment or that even though I'm logged in, and it shows that I'm logged in. Sometimes it will say that I'm not logged in. It's frustrating but I also know where it's coming from. scratch is going to make a lot of stuff very difficult, here on out. Keep your head down and your rosary beads close by... Peace! Matt
Like most of our news today, this photo is fake and manipulated. You can check it out on snopes. The moon is way in front of the sun, it is not possible to bend light rays around the moon to show detail on the moon, along with a beam that slices the moon in half vertically in front of and behind the moon. Another image floating around is the eclipse on the horizon of a body of water, also manipulated.
Snopes is a liberal site for "facts". It's like reading a Catholic commentary from Catholic Reporter. Half truths. I am not saying this photo is ligit or not, but would not trust snopes to tell ne.
If you like fake news or fake art this was floating around Facebook too, problem is the eclipse didn't happen in Egypt.
The picture is still beautiful either way. Here is a nice montage of "2017 eclipse" photos, mostly of the viewers but neat. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/08/21/science/eclipse-reader-photos.html
