Mario, that would be wonderful but unfortunately unlikely. Buddhism is quite popular here, the Tibetan branch in particular. The Dzogchen community in Beara peninsula were under the direction of Sogyal Rinpoche for many years until some scandal (I don't remember the details) a few years ago, led to his removal. He wrote a popular book called The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying back in the '90s and was very well known. However, there do appear to be signs of some green shoots of faith among younger people. Please God they will continue to grow and increase. Our Lady of Knock lead us to your Son.
I remember being told a few years ago of a survey taken in Northern Ireland of people who had converted to Buddhism. It seems Catholics tended to embrace Tibetan Buddhism, as it has more Ceremonial aspects, and Protestants tended towards the Zen approach, as it's more 'direct.'
True. I think the survey mentioned above was of people who had 'converted' to Buddhism, rather than of people trying to combine both.
When I hear of Catholics converting to another religion I always wonder if they were really Catholic in the first place. A Catholic who both knows their Faith and practices it would never ,ever desert it.
