Genius is always a little bit crazy. I doubt if she is a Christian.

But maybe the Holy Spirit is nudging her in our direction. In either case I agree with so much of what she says.

So much of what is going on around us is just totally absurd.

The guys in work laugh all day in what I have to say. But maybe they're crazy, not me.

Never seen her speak but I have heard her name.

She is spot on regarding the treatment of boys in the public school system. I struggled so much with my son in public school. They want all the boys to act like girls and the girls seem to get away with almost any behavior.

America is coming apart at the seams...... As is our whole world it appears.

This lady is a libertarian and a lesbian. She lived with Artist Alison Maddex for about a decade and they had a child together. (I presume by in-vitro with a sperm donor? ). Her then partner Allison wrote a book called " Sex in N.Y. City: An illustrated History."

    See here, and you will get an idea;

    https://www.amazon.com/Sex-N-Y-City-Illustrated-History/dp/0789315076

She is not Catholic in her thinking.

When I watch her, I see behaviour that could be described as manic. Sometimes, according to media reports, she storms out of events, saying the questions are not intelligent enough for her .

    Delusions of Grandeur.

    Be careful!

Because the Devil loves to mix the pure with the poisonous.

    Paglia quote:

"Let's take the issue of abortion rights, of which I am a firm supporter. As an atheist and libertarian, I believe that government must stay completely out of the sphere of personal choice. Every individual has an absolute right to control his or her body. (Hence I favor the legalization of drugs, though I do not take them.)…"

Now, given that you have claimed that Camille Paglia is your "hero", Padraig, I do not feel that I, in good concience, can visit this website any longer. The lack of discernment you show by this is just sad.

It has really saddened me, too, that the Holy Father has been denigrated publicly on this site, including by you, Padraig. So we have the Holy Father denigrated and Camille Paglia venerated as your hero.

This is what I call diabolical disorientaion.

I bid you all farewell and I thank you all for the prayers youve prayed for me and the good conversations we have had, all of the forum members.

So, how do you feel about Pope Francis publicly declaring a well-known abortionist and abortion activist to be one of the "forgotten greats"? Lack of discernment? Diabolical disorientation?

I have read Camille Paglia for awhile and she is a lone voice of sanity among liberals. I think she seeks truth within her limited cultural place. Yes she is an atheist and pro abortion and a lesbian but she is a truth seeker who will call out her fellow democrats. She also respects fairness. It would be easy to write her off as hell bound but I think of Jesus warning that tax collectors and prostitutes may get into heaven before some of us who write off those on the other side. May God grant her the grace of conversion. I am guessing there are a lot of family members in purgatory and heaven interceding for her.

Not everything in paglia is good but her thinking is permeated by so much good sense on the true nature of things.

The liberal minded people will not listen to traditional thinking from a traditional minded person, but perhaps the absurdity of some of their notions can be shown to them by one of their own. This is necessary. It is unfortunate that she is so manic. Would be better if she were calmer and more methodical in her speaking. But perhaps if one speaks up then so will more of them.

I remember what Jesus said to the Pharisees that if they did not accept Him God would raise up the very stones to give Him praise. Perhaps Camille is a case in point.

If you notice amongst the saints who had radical conversions you see in the days before heir conversion this wonderful love of Truth . A love which I witness in Camille.

In either case as people quite rightly point out the fact that I am very much a sinner myself would lead me to seek the company of sinners.

There is another lady ,very like Camille I am very fond of, sometimes called , 'The Patron Saint of Atheists'. She never did join the Church, but her heart was so on fire with love for the poor and downtrodden. Her name was Simone Weil.

It's interesting that you mention Simone Weil. The other Simone, Simone Veil, just died. Many secular and catholic media today are presenting her as the leader of the pro abortion movement in France. However I have learned from other french catholic sources (@philippe_arino) that she really never wanted to support abortion, that would be what the progressive left wants people to believe - what she supported was to enhance the help for pregnant women to another level, so that they are dissuaded from aborting. Pro-gay militants have also been fast to claim her as an advocate of their cause - however she marched in france against 'Marriage for all' law (gay marriage law) because she saw that gay marriage was only a form commercialized trafficking of children, mothers, and homosexual people themselves.

Here she is marching against gay marriage in 2013:

Yes. I love the way that these people although they are often Agnostics of Atheists and sometimes even hate the organised Church , because they love the truth so much you find them walking along side you on the road agreeing with you on so many things. it is an affirmation.

Another person who was very like this was the English thinker Malcolm Muggeridge, a very firm atheist. What converted Malcolm was he was working for the BBC doing a documentary on Mother Teresa. Well they tried filming in the Saints for the dying in the former Hindu Temple in Calcutta. The cameramen insisted the film would be no use as it was so dark in there. But lo and behold when they got is back to London it was clear as day light. The film men were astounded and everyone counted it as a miracle. It was what first got Mother Teresa widely known.

This and meeting Mother Teresa converted Malcolm Muggeridge.

Sometimes you know the Light of God, the Light of kindness and Charity can come in the most unexpected places and it is very touching.

Once in the very depths of winter many guards came to me and beat me up so badly that I was covered on blood. Semi conscious they dragged me of to the punishment block were I lay in an unheated cell. No bed, no furniture, no heating. Just for walls. Two of he guards entered as tried to sleep and beat me once again.

Later min the middle of the night they dragged me out min the dark to a courtyard where heavy snow was falling. I had on only a tee shirt and jeans, no shoes. It was surreal lit by arc lights fierce and white, surround by barbed wire and barking dogs.

it was so cold I ran in circles covered in dried blood trying to keep warm. But so happy, so joyous because I was praying all the time because I forgave and pardoned my enemies. I only loved them.

But then one of the guards called me over. I expected him to hit me, curse me of spit in my face. But he handed me a lit cigarette. You know all the hatred , all the rage all the blood, but it is that one act of kindness I recall most of all.

So yes I think we must expect to see God in unexpected places.

Look at Jesus for instance with Simon of Cyrene.

One thing about Camille really stands out for me and that is her disillusionment , I went through all that before my own conversion. She has a love for Truth that causes her, in a sense , to devour her own beliefs.

This happened to me to too. You can see this process so well in the life , for instance, of St Augustine.
