This is one of the reasons I only follow prophecies from apparitions and saints approved by the Church. There is a huge storehouse of them and you know you will not be led astray.
Well said, Booklady. It is a cautionary tale for us all. Curiosity is a dangerous thing sometimes and wanting to know what lies ahead is a human weakness. Remember too hindsight is always 20/20. At the time those "predictions" sounded possible to me too. Except I just couldn't get past the thought that it was so very precise, sort of like those guys that predicted the end of the world over and over only to find we were all still here. And then, after all, whose authority did we have that any of it was sound, discerned, vetted. Where were the priests making public statements. (at least Msgr. Esseff did give an approval to LTTW at least for awhile) There was none of that. Only the"seer's" word for it. And now there's all this back-peddling to explain it away and say it was a real prophecy but God changed His mind and answered all our prayers. Yes, God indeed answered our prayers during the election and today too and if we are faithful to prayer perhaps He will give our new president the wisdom of Solomon and our land will heal. I pray so. But you are right-- that so called prophecy is a bust. I don't see a way to say it any differently. As I mentioned here once before the only time an( approved) apparition ever made a specific claim like that it was Our Lady of Fatima. She said on Oct. 13 there would be a sign and there was. And that was that. I'm not going to try and figure out the source of this catastrophic misdirection from Mr. Johnston. That's above my pay grade but I do hope and pray that this is the end of it. On Glenn Dallaire's site there is a poor fellow who lost a lot of money because of that prophecy. His post would break your heart. There are real human casualties from this. This is not a victim-free debacle.
Hi Praetorian my Friend, I share your opinion but according to your posts you believe in Akita or in Marie Julie Jahenny (like me)...etc....but none of them are Saint or Approved by the Church, so what do you mean exactly ? thank you for your reply.
With all due respect, I don't want to hear another unapproved "seer" quoting words from Jesus or angels or The Blessed Mother. I'm sticking with scripture and the Fathers of the Church. Just so weary of all this flow of "messages." Like the old mapmakers used to say, beyond this boundary there be dragons. God bless.
..false prophets will appear and deceive many people.. If CJ's post tomorrow, as he said is coming, includes a heart felt sorry to all who follow him and a humble admission of being wrong/in error I will hold a decent level of respect for him. Thus far I don't believe he has this humilty in him, I pray that he does for the sake of those clinging to his every word. The truth matters. As for TNRS, it's a nice catch phrase but not as good as my new prophetic web site coming shortly, DTRT Do The Right Thing. Check out my new and exciting prophecies like.... Election 2020, MMM sees clearly The Donald will get reelected or Obama to Head the UN, the rise of the ac by prophet MMM and the juiciest of all.....Hillary becomes a Cloistered nun while still married to Bill by June, 2018! All these and so much more are free for your inquiring minds to guide you to the truth as I see it! Remember DTRT and subscribe for the only real and true prophecies in the world today!!
please don't be so hard on yourself.....the way the world is going, anything was possible. So sorry to see so many having been scared so badly. Reality is bad enough for everyone.
Hi Aviso, I understand there is some confusion with the status of Akita but my understanding was that is was approved by Bishop Ito. It did not go to the Vatican, but that is not necessary. Also I believe Marie Julie Jahenny has the approval from a Bishop in France. Please correct me if I am wrong here as well.
Aviso, I just checked and in the book "We Are Warned" about Marie Julie Jahenny under a picture of Bishop Fournier there is this statement: "Monseigneur Fournier, the Bishop of Nantes who declared all that happened to Marie-Julie was of a supernatural and divine origin."
I believe the Lord gives information in pieces to many prophets. That's how it worked in the old testament and probably how it works now. If you read the four gospels you will find that a few overlap, and one (John) actually touches on other things. That does not mean that they do not agree. If you examine the major apparitions of the last century they all are giving a little different information or details yet a lot the same. I never will write off a prophet but as the scripture tells us, take the good and discard the bad. I only will ignore a prophet that is living in a state of mortal sin or not obedient to the Catholic Church. Obviously then they are wide open to demonic influence. Look up the "Little Pebble"! We need to pray for the Two Witnesses to come to us and bring the world back to God, just as Mother Mary and her ancestors prayed for the Messiah to come. So I think that it is a mistake to just write off all prophets just because some have deceived us and maybe been deceived themselves.
There is the possibility that he received genuine visions and misinterpreted them. This would of course render him an unreliable visionary and still disqualify him. There is also the possibility that the visions were genuine, Charlie interpreted correctly, but that, as all such private prophesy is conditional, prayer or change of behaviour by enough people spared us the worst. In which case the role of the 'prophet' would be complete. Whatever the truth, I think Charlie should now quietly retire.
I'm not sure the judgement of conditionality rests with the prophet in the case of post-Johannine private revelation. I would imagine that decision rests with the Church. Certainly a prophet whose 'prophesy' hasn't even received a priori approval from the Church can hardly credibly claim the right to deem his 'prophesy' unconditional. If any such prophet took this quality upon himself it would, in my opinion, immediately negate him. It would be tantamount to limiting the Will of God. The same would apply to any third party who took it upon himself to attribute this degree of certainty to any private revelation.
The prophesies in the Scriptures up to the death of the last Apostle are, as I understand it, part of the body of the Faith. Revelation is considered to have ended with the death of John. Therefore, all prophesy since then possesses a different status, even if Church-approved. Even that prophesy that is approved is not considered part of the Faith.
How do you know God only gave him this prophecy to induce people to pray? Similar conditional prophecies abound in the Bible. I think his writings caused many who would not have prayed to pray. If this is the only result, it was a good thing.
We just don't really know anything now. The most prudent thing to believe is that nothing supernatural seems likely to have been involved with Charlie. There may still be a possibility that there was, but, in the absence of corroboration this seems much less likely than the probability that there wasn't. Hitler and Stalin, for example, surely caused many to pray who otherwise wouldn't have, but they were hardly 'good things'.
Charlie replied to a critic on his website this afternoon. It is an evocative exchange (below) and shows the current state of Charlie's thinking. Charlie will update his website on Saturday with a longer post. It's clear people didn't necessarily turn to prayer, or prayer alone, as a result of Charlie's messages. Another person said Charlie had suggested people only make minimal payments on mortgages, etc., since chaos was ahead. Anyhow, a former follower wrote: Karl Sander says: January 20, 2017 at 1:23 pm A prophecy is a tool to help people of God to prepare their selves to upcoming dangers. Taking the next right step also mean that if someone knows about a prophecy, a real prophecy from God, then he NECESSARILY have to take the right steps. If the prophecy is really true. You predicted a global collapse and chaos, all of this obviously before today with Trump not taking power. All of this involve serious steps, if you really believe in the prediction, and with even a deadline. I followed your advice so many times posted here, with absolutely no reserve. I waited, I waited, I waited. Now I’m ruined and lost thousand of dollars. Are you happy now Mr. Charlie Johnston? Can you see what happens when you insists telling everyone for years “Holy cow, everything is going to be upended, after the fall comes the fall, Obama not finishing his term, chaos before the 20th”?. Everyone has noticed that you stopped believing in your own predictions ONLY since two months ago. But too late for me. Me, who was one of your followers. Especially and almost exclusively for the prophetic part, because you DECLARED yourself to be a prophet of God. Otherwise, and I’m being honest, I would have considered this a blog like everything else, no less, no more (and, come one, 90% of the people at first went here for the prophetic part. Telling the contrary, would be foolish). And now? Who will give my money and stuff back? There are other guys like me in the same condition. Are these the good fruits? Is everything going to pass as if tomorrow is another shiny day? “Well, no prophecy, let’s turn the page”. A big NO. This is not how the world is working. When you have followers and share unique, prophetic words, in some way you are also responsible for the choices that they will do ACCORDING to your predictions, in this case. I will stop reading this blog anymore, as it only bring bad fruits for me and many others for the prophetic parts. Again: this is what happens when someone claims sure, sure sure for YEARS, only to stepping back when it is too late for those who have already been deceived. Think about this, and please, I beg you even if I really shouldn’t, for the good of everyone: STOP SHARING PREDICTIONS. THEY WILL HURT SENSIBLE PEOPLE LIKE ME, AND AT LEAST SHOW APOLOGIZES FOR US WHO HAVE TAKEN STEPS ACCORDING TO YOUR PREDICTIONS!!!! I’M ASKING NO MORE THAN THIS!!! charliej373 says: January 20, 2017 at 2:40 pm Karl, if you lost money because you put it towards preparations when I told you to trust God and not focus on preparations other than prudent things you could easily afford, that is not my fault. Who will give me all the money I have forfeited by living poverty since 2010 in order to be faithful to what I was called to? I will give no apologies to people who have taken steps I urged them not to. It has always been about acknowledging God, taking the next right step, and being a sign of hope. So it still is.
I do not claim to be a master of all things prophectic but it is my understanding that post-Johannine prophecies given to saints/seers, etc. could either be conditional or may be statements of events that will definitely occur. At Akita we are told the fire falling from the sky was conditional: "...if men do not repent and better themselves..." Yet at Fatima the Miracle of the Sun was predicted months in advance. A miracle was clearly going to happen there on the specific date foretold no matter what and that wasn't conditional or approved by the Church at that time. It was purely based on the assertion of the seers. Who determines the conditionality? I don't know, perhaps you are right the Church is the final arbiter of that. In any case I think it is clear Charlie should be avoided at this point.
