    I would say a deceptive read. Where is his quoting previous pope's condemnations of PF liberation theology. "Unbridled capitalism"? Where?

    Help me to understand the deceptiveness behind this because I am not following you picadillo. Please go into a little more detail. Possibly I miss read the relevancy of the quote by Blessed Pope Pius IX but after re-reading it I still do not comprehend it as condoning the LT of PF but of condemning the coupling of the economy of the West to communists.

    Hi Don D,

    What I find deceptive is Mark's attempt to weave PF economic opinion seamlessly in with other pontificates. He has "snuggled" up to communist Fidel Castro. His vatican , without any fraternal correction by PF, has PRAISED communist China as being "closest to Christianity". Did not see these memes woven in his narrative. His belief system in liberation theology is a clear rupture from the consistent condemnations of this theology from previous popes."In other words, Western nations have been drawn into the dragon’s lair and are now beginning to pay the price for what Pope Francis rightly calls “unfettered capitalism” that has put profit above people and wealth at the expense of creation itself." Can he please explain what PF means by "unfettered capitalism"? Can anyone? Does the US have "unfettered capitalism"? By his continual criticism of the US I would believe that is what he is referring to. PF cozying up to all world globalists would imply that he does not have a problem with what I believe IS the economic problem stalking the world, central banks that create the debt structures that PF condemns. I believe PF is in over his head when speaking about global warming and economics. PF is a clear rupture of the church's condemnation of socialist societies. Weaving his belief system in with the perennial teachings of other popes is deceptive.

    JPII unequivocally condemned liberation theology. And the Church through Leo XIII and Pius X and Benedict XV and Pius XI and XII condemned communism. John 23 did not. Who knows why. Some say he wanted a rapprochement with the Soviets. I know Paul VI at one time was sympathetic to their cause on behalf of the poor.

    Mark leads with this:

    If the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet,
    so that the people are not warned,
    and the sword comes, and takes any one of them;
    that man is taken away in his iniquity,
    but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
    (Ezekiel 33:6)

    I'm sorry, the vatican has fallen and not a peep about it from Mark.

    Unfettered capitalism is 2 words in an over 5000 word article.

    Picadillo,

    I think many of us here have serious reservations about the Holy Father. But certainly MMM makes a good point that the reference to Pope Francis in Mark's reflection bears little weight to the overall thrust of this particular writing. We are in perilous times from every angle. Fortunately, we as Catholics know where to run for safety.:)

    O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

    I completely agree. That was an excellent article by Mark. The whole point of his article is to wake people up to what is upon us. I don't think there's a deceptive bone in Mark's body. Now, in the past he certainly went far beyond anyone I know of to try to publicly defend Pope Francis' many questionable actions but I think he did that as an answer to what our Blessed Mother has asked us to do, to pray for the Pope, even a misguided one (who even moreso needs our prayers). But this article is speaking as a watchman to sound the alarm of the imminent events on our doorstep and this article seems divinely inspired, to me.

    I am way past the point of having "serious reservations" about PF. I am sure the catholics in China appreciate this watchmen and PF, and there are more than 2 of them.

    Completely agree. I guess my thought is this article Mark wrote isn’t about Francis. We have bigger problems than Pope Francis, unfortunately
