According to Father Z, even General Absolution is acceptable in these times-on the proviso that one agrees to go to Confession if and when things return to normal. A telephoned absolution seems less general, to me, than a General Absolution, if the same provisos apply. However, I'm only an ordinary Joe Soap thinking out loud.
Prayers now and offering up masses, to Our Lady, Star of the Sea, please keep us posted. Very sad to hear this
I am offering up my Mass and communion for your grandson and for your family. I will also say a rosary specific. May God be with you and your family during this horrible waiting period and always!
a case was confirmed today in my city, and I am very concerned because my 56 year old mother has asthma, I will be praying for our families and all the members of this forum.
Jo I am so so sorry to hear this. I just sent up a Memorare to Our Lady but will keep all of you in my prayers. May God in His Mercy preserve us. Those making light of this virus had better get on board and let's get those schools closed.
I did go to Mass to the convent but there was only one other person from the outside. Many elderly nuns so after this I believe I will be watching EWTN too. I have MD appointments this week. Not sure if I should go in. Hard to know.
We still had the mass today in Brattleboro, Vermont. We had people drive up from Massachusetts who do not have the mass. Hoping we still will by next Sunday.
In the American West, each person in the household had a cloth, marked with their name and hung on a peg in the outhouse. You'd wet the cloth in a bucket, wipe yourself, rinse it in the bucket, and hang it back on the peg. The formal households in the cities had similar "things". Every so often, the water would be changed and the cloths washed. Nowadays, people who live off grid or who have made their own re-usable period napkins do a similar thing, with the exception that after using, they drop the used cloth into a bucket of bleach water. Every so often the cloths are washed out, the way you do with baby's cloth diapers. You're welcome.
Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere on the forum: Coronavirus: US to extend travel ban to UK and Ireland I also notice that although all these countries complained about Trump instituting the European travel ban "without consulting them", that Spain, France, and Germany have all announced plans to minimize travel within their countries, closing down venues, etc. No word on if these countries consulted other nations in the EU before announcing these drastic measures.
I will certainly keep all of your family concerns about this virus in my prayers. God bless you abundantly in this time. May He bless you esp. w/ the greatest Trust in His Love for you and bring you peace.

Death Panels: Officials in Hardest Hit Region in Italy Suggest 80-Year-Olds May Be Turned Away if Crisis Worsens According to The Telegraph officials in the Turin region in Italy drafted a document that says 80-year-old coronavirus victims may be turned away if the crisis worsens. Italy is the worst hit country in Europe and has more more coronavirus deaths than any country except China where the virus was first documented. The Turin document is not in effect. This was drawn up for the city in case the crisis worsens. Europe and Italy are now the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic. The Telegraph reported: Coronavirus victims in Italy will be denied access to intensive care if they are aged 80 or more or in poor health should pressure on beds increase, a document prepared by a crisis management unit in Turin propose. Some patients denied intensive care will in effect be left to die, doctors fear. The unit has drawn up a protocol, seen by The Telegraph, that will determine which patients receive treatment in intensive care and which do not if there are insufficient spaces. Intensive care capacity is running short in Italy as the coronavirus continues to spread. The document, produced by the civil protection deparment of the Piedmont region, one of those hardest hit, says: “The criteria for access to intensive therapy in cases of emergency must include age of less than 80 or a score on the Charlson comorbidity Index [which indicates how many other medical conditions the patient has] of less than 5.” https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...ar-olds-may-be-turned-away-if-crisis-worsens/
For those unable to attend Mass either for illness or Church closings: From the Book of Heaven, March 27, 1918 I was lamenting to Jesus for I could not even listen to Holy Mass; and Jesus told me: "My daughter, am I not the One who forms the Sacrifice? Now, since I am present in each Sacrifice, the soul who lives with Me and in my Will remains sacrificed together with Me - not in one Mass, but in all the Masses. And since she lives in my Will, she remains consecrated with Me in all the Hosts.* Never go out of my Will, and I will let you reach any place you want. Even more, there will be such electricity of communication between you and Me, that you will not do one act without Me, and I will not do one act without you. Therefore, when you lack something, enter into my Will, and you will find, ready, whatever you want: as many Masses as you want, as many Communions, as much love as you want. Nothing is missing in my Will. Not only this - but you will find things in a Divine and infinite way." "..she remains consecrated with Me in all the Hosts" *Living Hosts: St. Padre Pio, St. Faustina, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Rev. Michael Sopocko, Marthe Robin and others
We have to go to an appointment for my husband on Tuesday afternoon which we really can’t miss. But life goes on. I guess pray for discernment in your situation.
I remember in the 1970’s when some kind of group exercise was being done to see which person could be left off of the lifeboat. That’s the kind of grisly thinking we are witnessing now thanks to a culmination of evil in the world.
