Yes I believe that the closing down of Masses all over the world is a direct result of bowing down to a pagan idol by church leaders in the heart of the Catholic Church, St Peters, with the approval and participation of Pope Francis.
    This could not pass unpunished.

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Just thought some on the Forum would be encouraged by some practical advice on receiving Holy Eucharist from a little Church I like to attend for TLM.

    Coronavirus: a few more thoughts....

(A full outline of the Parish’s practical guidance concerning the coronavirus was given in last week’s email.)

Rather inevitably, this initial response to the Coronavirus outbreak was very much focussed on the practical measures required to stay well and protect our more vulnerable parishioners. But it goes without saying that as Catholics our response to it should also be informed and guided by our faith.

Firstly, such things as the Coronavirus serve to remind us of the frailty of human life and our absolute dependence on God. Did we not hear on Ash Wednesday that we are but dust, and unto dust we shall return? With this in mind, we should all be praying for the grace of a holy death, and preparing ourselves well for that eventuality, for we know not the day nor the hour.

Secondly, outbreaks such as this with all its consequences serve as a chastisement for sin. Consequently we should renew our prayer and penance. In doing so, we place our trust in the Lord, knowing that He permits this only in His great love for us.

To that end, after every Mass, we will recite special prayers from the Roman Ritual, to implore God’s mercy and stave off the virus. We are also petitioning to be able to add a commemoration from the ‘Mass in time of trubulation’ (which would normally not be permitted by the rubrics during Lent). And since our whole hope rests on the Cross of Our Saviour, on Sundays we will conclude with benediction of the relic of the true Cross.

For private prayers, the rosary is always beneficial. We may also turn to St Roch, the fourteenth-century Venetian saint, who is traditionally invoked against pestilence. Perhaps while washing your hands, you could time it to a prayer to him and to your holy guardian angel.

And while holy water has for now been withdrawn from the church's stoops, let us not forget the importance of sacramentals, especially in times of trial. There is nothing to stop you carrying and using your own personal supply of holy water which only you touch. Remember, also, that Epiphany water is particularly powerful spiritual remedy when consumed in times of sickness; and don't forget to burn your blessed candles when the going gets tough.

However, it is important to remain obedient to whatever practical measures are put in place. It would be the sin of presumption not to do so. It can be more virtuous not to come to Mass, for example, if our doing so would endanger others. Rest assured that in such circumstances, we are excused from the Sunday obligation.

Similarly, it would be erroneous to believe that no illness could ever result from going to Mass and receiving the Holy Eucharist. This simply is not Church teaching! While the substance of bread and wine are changed into the Body and Blood of Christ, Whom no evil can ever touch, the accidents (colour, taste, chemical composition, etc.) remain – and these accidents can, unfortunately, become contaminated. This will be important to bear in mind not only if the sad day comes when we have to suspend Holy Communion, but also if now someone is unwell: it is far better for the common good to make a good Spiritual Communion, which some saints have said can even have the same effect in our soul as a sacramental Communion, if made well with the right dispositions.

  11. What No One Likes To Say

    March 18, 2020 by sd

[IMG]For many years — since the early 1990s — we have guessed that events indicated in various prophecies would begin to unfold meaningfully and more noticeably during the 2020s and reach their conclusion by about the mid-point of the 2030s. This was cited in books we have published, starting with The Final Hour, based in part on speculation and in part on prophecies from seers such as Josyp Terelya and Maria Esperanza. Furthermore, it was guessed, at retreats, that events would most likely begin with an epidemic (or epidemics, plural).

No great prophetic gift was necessary: epidemics have always been part of God’s purification, and anyone who does not believe God uses or allows sickness as an indicator or chastisement is unfamiliar with the Old Testament, while anyone who doesn’t believe God chastises — purifies — does not believe the words of Jesus (for instance, in Luke 21 or Matthew 24, among other places). There are still those with a voice in the modern, academically-driven Church who, though well-meaning, faithful Catholics, refuse this aspect of Christianity.

A quick additional note: the closing of public Masses around the world is understandable — and in some cases there is no other option, due to emergency government edicts — but one wonders if there is any more potential for viral spread at Mass than at a gas station or supermarket (the answer is almost certainly, far less) and one also has to lament the missing component, now, in so many places, of what Mass affords in the way of spiritual, emotional, and physical protection. In the Middle Ages, as well as during the Fall of Rome, priests and bishops cited demonic spirits as a cause or harbinger of plague. More on that in days to come. Let us make “spiritual communions” if we have no access whatsoever to a church or Adoration chapel. Go to Saint Joseph. Go to the Virgin of Fatima and all authentic appearances. The Rosary is critical. With it, we have great hope (differentiating “hope” from false assurance, which is a bit too prevalent).

Interesting and disconcerting it is how Masses have been halted during Lent — on the way to Calvary. And how St. Peter’s Basilica is empty; how incense has been replaced by wafts of hand sanitizer.

There are, to be sure, many intriguing aspects to the “Great Coronavirus Consternation.”

Note the incredible reach of the virus scare.

Note that the rich can’t find pilots for their private jets.

Note the supermarket shelves are now empty in nations that had been throwing away as much as a third of their food.

Note how a society that has been distancing itself socially through technology is now finding itself in the ultimate state of social distancing.

The virus is striking everywhere, with certain emphases.

The stock market keeps plunging and then insisting on resurgence. (Never mind “fake news.” This is the era of fake money.)

The virus may have originated with exotic animals the Chinese have long considered delicacies (this is the nation that eats bats and prizes rhino tusks as an aphrodisiac, killing the endangered animals for them). Has that come back to haunt us?

    So many such coincidences.

[IMG]In 2011 a strange, powerful quake near Richmond, Virginia, caused cracks on the Washington Monument and led to its closure. The following year, Hurricane Sandy swamped Liberty Island and closed the Statue of Liberty for more than a year.

On Tuesday, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the U.S. president shuttered both again.

In the West, casinos are closed.

So are brothels from Nevada to Belgium.

Americans had become obsessed with restaurants and now can’t enter one.

Nor a bar, in many places.

    Pornographic productions are faltering.

    So is Hollywood.

Movie theaters are closed. (For the moment, there are no more “stars.”)

    And our obsession with sports?

All of a sudden there is no March Madness (NCAA tournament), hockey league, NBA, golf tournament, Kentucky Derby, and perhaps most telling of all, youth sports. It will be interesting to see what happens with the NFL (the president is striving to keep it on schedule).

Was this not a nation obsessed or perhaps better said possessed by high school and even grammar school sports, which had subsumed Mass on Sunday?

    Now, we have neither.

    UFO Festival postponed

Terrorists are afraid to enter America. Terrorists!

Here’s another “coincidence”: “With the implementation of curfews, people are able to hear birds singing for the first time in Wuhan and in Italy, the water in the canals of Venice is clear for the first time in years. The canals are usually polluted with fuel and congested with tourist boats. With Italy in a state of lockdown, however, the water is clear and the bottom of the canals are visible. Fish can even be seen swimming around,” notes a website. That’s called good news.

Quite a peripeteia, when Disney World closes along with hotels around the world and airlines — those companies that were cramming passengers in for record profits.

We had become so profligate; as in the High Middle Ages, everyone was fashionable; everyone is or was rich. The leisure spending and consumerism has been incredible. So has the false wealth. Now?

No cruise ships. (What better place to contract a virus?) Our medical system, so focused on profits: reeling. (Pray for nurses; they are the front line.) Whether a beautician or doctor, a salesman or singer, we all have erred in certain ways and now we all are potentially affected, in ways unimaginable two weeks ago. Viruses have far more reach than a hurricane.

Let us get back to Lent in our ashes and sackcloth and praise God for the simplification — let us pray this brings critical purification at the same time as saving folks from the ravages.

  12. Pope encouraging Catholics to pray rosary together on Feast of St. Joseph

At this time of the coronavirus outbreak, Pope Francis is encouraging Catholics in Italy to pray the rosary at the same hour on March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph. Catholics around the world can also pray the rosary together at that recommended time. In his message, the Holy Father wrote:

“Tomorrow we will celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Joseph. In life, in work, in the family, in joy and in sorrow, he always sought and loved the Lord, meriting Scripture’s praise as a just and wise man. Invoke him always with trust, especially in difficult moments, and entrust your existence to this great saint.

“I make my own the appeal of the Italian bishops who in this health emergency have promoted a moment of prayer for the whole country. Every family, every faithful, every religious community, all united spiritually tomorrow at 9:00 p.m. (4 p.m. Eastern time for the Washington, D.C., area) for the recitation of the rosary, with the Mysteries of Light. I will accompany you from here.

“Mary, Mother of God, Health of the Sick, leads us to the luminous and transfigured face of Jesus Christ and to His Heart. We turn to her with the prayer of the rosary, under the loving gaze of St. Joseph, custodian of the Holy Family and of our families. And we ask him to guard our family, our families, in a special way, in particular the sick and the persons taking care of the sick: the doctors, the men and women nurses, the volunteers, who risk their lives in this service.”

  15. For those with this question:

For those wondering how hard it is to get chloroquine, it’s an over-the-counter drug in some countries, and requires a prescription from a doctor in others. In the United States, you need a prescription to get chloroquine.

I am aware about this and other studies on the treatment of COVID-19.

There is no data on using Chloroquin for prophylaxes.

Ethiopian Nomads Bleeding to Death After Arrival of Chinese Oil and Gas Firm

A mystery illness has killed more than 2,000 nomads in Ethiopia’s Somali region since 2014, according to a report published Tuesday by Voice of America (VOA).

Those who have treated the ill say symptoms of the mysterious illness include bleeding from the nose and mouth, swollen limbs, and a green or yellow tint to eyes. Victims of this mystery ailment comprise a nomadic tribe of cattle herders, who roam the Ogaden Basin region, rich in oil and natural gas reserves.

Another group drawn to the Ogaden Basin region is the Chinese oil and gas firm Poly-GCL, which has surveyed the area since 2014, when the nomads began to exhibit symptoms of the illness.

The imminent construction of a pipeline by Poly-GCL in the region near Calub, Ethiopia, has riled residents, who argue the project will destroy the local environment and compromise grazing area for their cattle; they also add that they have not been consulted regarding the enterprise.

With the commercial gas venture on the horizon, the Ethiopian government has recently signed an agreement with Poly-GCL allowing for the African nation to gain 50 percent of any income from oil or gas production. As a result of the Chinese pipeline, Ethiopia will be able to export natural gas.

Despite concern from both locals and outsiders, such as Western reporters and researchers from human rights groups, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed denies allegations that the oil and gas project has caused any damage to the health and environment of the region or its people.

He defends the deal with the Chinese as essential for Ethiopia’s economic growth. Ethiopia indeed looks to China for economic support.

The joint oil and gas venture between the two nations illustrates a strategic alliancebetween Ahmed and Chinese dictator Xi Jinping, whose Belt and Road Initiative aims to consolidate power for China across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
