I'm all for a cure for the coronavirus, and am also fully aware of the politics. But death is around us. More beds are dedicated for the pandemic's victims. It is now reported that ventilators are no longer available in New York State. The death rate will increase. I'm experiencing the sincere, ongoing commitments of tired medical staff and the sorrows of death here at the hospital. Close relatives are not allowed to be present for the Anointing of the Sick, but priests are willing to risk infection in doing so. Those chaplains not physically present are calling families whose loved ones are dying. There is a deeper appreciation of mutual support among the staff. When on the floors today, I more specifically spoke to staff telling them, "I'm here to pray with you as well." Nurses would share with me patients who were especially hurting due to lack of their families' ability to visit. An exception was made on the 5th floor when a husband discovered his dire non-covid prognosis, and wanted so much for his wife to be with him. He asked me, "Please pray to Jesus for me." Another asked me, "What is the difference between palliative care and hospice?" She then reversed herself saying, "No, I don't really want to know quite yet!" May we sincerely pray and not allow the playing out of the "big picture" to form a thin veneer of callousness over our hearts. O Mary who suffered at the foot of the Cross, pray that our hearts refill with compassion for the dying as we approach Good Friday in one week.

Maybe the jig is up! In AZ the gov has stated stay at home but I just don't see it here. Many, many people out driving and in the stores. The restaurant down the street is even still open and serving people and they are not supposed to be. Neighbors and people in the stores think it is all over blown. SO who knows. I think the DS has tried something and they might be failing. I hope the good guys are changing things but it is only a hope. I simply don't know. Can't trust too much anymore.

The more we all understand the actions of our enemies, the better we can respond. Face masks and antibody testing would allow the lifting of these quarantines. If someone has antibodies but is not actively shedding viruses, they have already been exposed, so they can return to work. We have no face masks, due to Obama failing to replenish national reserves following the 2009 pandemic. We have very little antibody testing. So we’re stuck with the only option left: shut down everything to stop the spread, which will destroy our economy. Despite Obama’s obvious central role in this face mask catastrophe, the MSM/Democrat complex will blame Trump.
Again I feel like I need to put a disclaimer here that this isn’t personal, but this is deeper than Obama or Trump/ Republican or Democrat. It’s hard to blame Obama when we are in the 4th year of Trump’s presidency and the masks weren’t even a thought... Also, closing down everything is a very, very dumb idea. A needless idea. There are better ways - the quarantine hasn’t even been shown to be working. The longer this goes on and the more measures he implements while racking up trillions in debt the more Trump proves himself to be exactly who concerned conservatives thought he was.
Certainly! But since the MSM/Democrats insist on blaming Trump, this particular aspect of the pandemic cannot be overlooked. Countries that have been successful in “flattening the curve” did not do so by “social distancing” but by universally using face masks in public. But since the west has no masks, they’re trying to make it sound like all these other non pharmaceutical efforts are the primary goal, and face masks are an afterthought. That’s total and unequivocal hogwash! They’re the single most important element of controlling the spread, but because we have none, they’re selling the public on this BS that they’re an afterthought. Thousands of people are dying because government and hospital administrators saved a couple bucks by not replenishing the national reserves of face masks.
Can I ask for prayer for the father of a friend of my son's. His name is Rich. We just found out he has the CV and is fighting for his life--on a respirator. This hits very close to home for me. Many thanks for any and all prayers.
