You read right. People frequently test positive and then later negative. So how accurate is a test that gives either result seemingly randomly?
Michael Matt needs to realise there is more than one way to skin a cat. It is tragic that the orthodox side divides so much over nuances that might not even be differences at all.
Dolours, thanks for your reply. Certainly a lot to take in there. Why do you assume that I trust the 'millionaire owned media'? To be honest I find very little to trust anywhere at the moment. I'm also not sure what you mean about the nursing home situation here. It's absolutely tragic. A friend of mine lost his elderly mother to the virus very recently, not having been able to see her for six weeks. Too many elderly and vulnerable people in one place, may explain the 'clusters' of deaths in these homes. If the virus does get inside it's likely to cause greater damage and misery. As you say this is not the time for blame. There are so many theories on the 'real' origin and spread of this virus that blame isn't really possible anyway. At the moment we're dealing with the situation at hand, however inadequately that may be.
Great analysis. As the data enlarges, it's easier to extract more plausible conclusions. Although we have proportionately more deaths than in the US, we have been less severely hit than many other European countries, perhaps helped by our island status which has been beneficial against many animal pathogens over the years. What is striking is the appalling death-rate in Belgium, the home of the EU bureaucracy. The fatality rate approaches double that of Italy, the country most in the headlines. I would offer a caveat regarding the hope for a vaccine (assuming there can be one that Gates doesn't get his claws upon) and that is that if the natural immunity stimulated by the antigen is weak and inconsistent, the same might apply to vaccine-derived immunity. There is one ray of hope: Luc Montagnier, discoverer of the HIV virus and Nobel Prize Winner, has inferred that the HIV component (a part of the COVID-19 antigen which he insists could only have been artificially attached) will not be long tolerated by nature and will eventually be mutated away. It seems not unlikely that this HIV component might be playing a significant role in failures of immunisation, a facet for which it was probably intended by the black magicians who manipulated it. I share your scepticism of the Irish media. They are uncritical echos of all the most progressive narratives abroad, a deceptive exercise in groupthink-unfortunately, many of our fellow citizens accept them as the gospel they now embrace instead of the One they have abandoned. I do not watch our television, read our newspapers and let our radio 'news' go in one ear and out the other. Finally, the thought has just entered my head that COVID-19 could yet prove to be an act of mercy for some if it turns out that we are about to enter an era in which the living will envy the dead.
Apparently President Trump joined in on St. Patrick's Cathedral's Mass today......mentioned by Cardinal Dolan in homily, in his usually "folksy" manner.....also wished Melania a Happy Birthday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=...TmNj3LmS6XVUo&v=GoXDiQEvHjs&feature=emb_title
Maybe Michael Matt is the one who has shifted. EWTN has scores of devotions and movies, if one doesn’t like the commentaries. It has stayed Catholic.
Interesting article. I would only add that China's Commie party knew that they would have the help of the U.S. MSM as well as all of the globalist organizations in cahoots w/ the UN to spin their story. And the timing is so "convenient" too.....after all of the other attempts to bring down Trump there was not a lot left for the radical DS to try before the election. I wouldn't be surprised that when and if this current crisis dies down there won't be some other fear mongering crisis to force the population in doors in order to push, again, the corrupt vote by mail fraud to steal the election. They either stay in power or go to jail! Sen. Tom Cotton Confirms TGP Suspicions: If China Was “Going to Suffer an Economic Contraction, They Were Not Going to Allow the World to Prosper” Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) joined Maria Bartiromo this morning on Sunday Morning Futures. In his interview, Cotton stated at the following at the 3:00 mark on the Chinese Communist regime: I believe the Chinese Communist leaders, when they were aware of those facts by mid-January, made the conscious decision not to explain to the world that it [the coronavirus] was transmissible between humans, not to shut down travel, not to ask for American or other kind international scientific help, but to allow this virus to escape its borders. Because if they were going to suffer an economic contraction, they were not going to allow the world to prosper and China be the only country whose economy was declining. Via Sunday Morning Futures. We made a similar argument in a post on April 19th but we took it a step further and suggested this might be why the coronavirus was released: It seems highly unlikely that a country would purposely do something like this that would kill its own people. But the China Communist regime has a history of abusing and killing its own citizens. So maybe it is not so far off as it would appear. But if they did purposely release the virus, why would they do it? The answer may be because China’s economy was collapsing. This was the regime’s real hold over its people. The country was growing economically and it was winning its economic war with the US. Then came President Trump and in a matter of a couple of years, the feared nation turned into a paper tiger. By destroying the world economy they could hide their economic calamity and blame it on the coronavirus. They were losing the economic war badly with Trump and they may have hit the panic button. I'll give you an example of the standard of journalism here. I had stopped reading watching or listening to it until this virus hit Italy. Then I tuned in occasionally to the news on TV or radio. I wouldn't waste my time on the print media or their online equivalent. One day I caught part of a discussion programme on the radio. For about a month we had been fed "no need for restrictions; just wash your hands; sure it only kills the elderly who would die anyway". Then all of a sudden it changed to "we need lockdowns and social distancing to save our hospital staff from being overwhelmed". That wasn't working on the young people and the radio discussion was among media people supposedly brainstorming on how to get the message through to young people. One woman had the solution (as far as I can remember she was an executive from the Journal but I could be wrong about that). Her solution was that the journalists should use the same strategy they had used to promote the same sex marriage amendment but in reverse. She used the royal "we" without any dissent from her fellow panelists. According to her, they had encouraged young people to "persuade" their older relatives to vote for the amendment. Her "reverse" was to persuade the young people that social distancing would save their grandparents from death. It reminded me of what a priest had said one day at Mass when talking about how Ireland had changed so rapidly. It was shortly after the abortion referendum and an elderly lady had come to him very distressed. She had voted for abortion because her grandchildren had threatened her that if she didn't they would never speak to her again. We haven't had any kind of balanced journalism here for many years. The narrative is controlled by whomever controls the media and the populace go with the flow rather than appear harsh or unfeeling. Time will tell what happened in the nursing homes. As far as I know most of them are privately owned. I heard (secondhand) that a representative of the private homes said that they had ordered supplies of personal protection equipment for their staff but that the Government had had the supplies re-directed to the public service. If that's true, it goes some way towards explaining the stories about the shortage of supplies in nursing homes. It's wrong to speculate until all is known about how the nursing homes were so badly affected but considering what was known then about the spread of the virus and its effects on the elderly, I find it hard to believe that nursing homes weren't prioritised for attention from the outset. Every country is dealing with the situation at hand. We have 5 million. There are 320 million Americans. In view of that, I think we and especially the media could cut President Trump some slack. He was branded a racist for stopping flights from China. Anyone in Europe who suggesting banning flights was accused of being borderline fascist. We've gone from that to telling everyone over 70 that it's against the law to venture outside their own home. Something stinks but the media are doing a good job at telling us it's roses we're smelling. There certainly was no European solidarity in all this. Of course it didn't help that the first cases in Northern Italy coincided with the Venice Carnival and Milan fshion week. I'll bet the Italians are sorry now that they didn't halt flights from the beginning. China, the WHO's poster child, had no problem clamping down on foreigners when it suited them.
I think the higher death rate in Belgium is down to how they estimate the numbers. They compare, say, the monthly death rates this year to the death rates during the same period in previous years and the difference is counted as virus related deaths. It's probably a more honest accounting because people are dying because they are afraid to seek hospital treatment or perhaps because some treatments have been deferred or cancelled. I'm sure (but not certain) that one the the drugs the Americans had high hopes for was a treatment for HIV. I can't remember the name but it begins with an R - Remdesivir or something similar sounding. It got the thumbs down after not working on enough patients but I think there's an argument that had it been used earlier in the patients' treatment it would have been more effective. It's sad watching what's happened to journalism in Ireland. We'll just have to pray that the merciful Lord uses a less painful method to get us back on track. The saddest funeral I was ever at, I didn't even get to the funeral. Straight from the funeral home to the cemetery without so much as a minute in the church, neighbours stood on the footpath to pay their respects as the hearse passed by.
Rudy Giuliani and K. T. McFarland Reveal the Sinister Reason Why China Claims the Coronavirus Came Out of a Wet Market (Video) China has a major reason for pushing the fake news story that the Wuhan coronavirus was created randomly in a wet market. Former New York Mayor and Trump supporter and Trump personal attorney, Rudy Giulianiinterviewed former US Attorney Joe diGenova and his attorney wife and partner, Victoria Toensing, about corrupt Joe Biden’s activities in China and around the globe. At the 12:00 mark, Joe and Victoria state that the Bidens are more corrupt than the Clintons. A very shocking statement, indeed. The interview was excellent. After Rudy interviewed Joe and Victoria, he brought in K. T. McFarland, who at the 30:00 minute mark, revealed why China continues to claim the China coronavirus came from a wet market: One of the reasons that they keep insisting, despite mounting evidence that it came from a lab in Wuhan, they keep insisting, no, no, it came from a wet market, or maybe it was America who did it. They cannot admit culpability for the following reason, if they do, then there’s a clause that they put into the Phase 1 US-China Trade Deal, where in essence in this trade deal it said we would lift sanctions, we would lift the tariffs on them and then they would buy a lot of agriculture and other goods from us. But there’s a clause that’s in there, a get out of jail free clause, which says, however, if there is a natural occurring disaster, the two parties will renegotiate. In other words, China doesn’t necessarily want to keep the terms of the deal. And so it’s very important for everybody, for them, to say, well, it’s a naturally occurring disaster coming out of the wet lab. It wasn’t China who did that. So not only do they give themselves an out for the trade deal, that they were pressured into signing, but they also will give themselves an out if companies and countries and individuals, all come to the International Courts and try to sue China. The Bidens are corrupt and China will do anything to get out of their trade deal with the US. Their plan may just work out. We will know in November. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...ina-claims-coronavirus-came-wet-market-video/
China's economic status was never much more than that of a Potemkin Village. Most of their population still live in rural poverty. Even their industrial success was completely dependent on foreign investment of treasure and ideas, combined with, as Ricky Gervais astutely pointed out, their slave labour. If this strategy is the actual one they have adopted, it will be a grave error and hopefully will lead to the doom of the Chinese Communist Party. Not ever having developed an industrial base through their own ingenuity, they probably have no comprehension of how the greater flexibility and know-how of The West will enable the latter, if the right policies are adopted, to emerge much more quickly and effectively from the forthcoming economic depression. The keys will be relocation and product replacement. There will be considerable opportunities for employment for countries that choose to themselves manufacture goods hitherto imported from China. This has already begun in Japan. How the Communists are going to control the hundreds of millions of urban Chinese now finding themselves returning to the poverty of their forebears will be interesting. A Chinese curse-'may you live in interesting times'.
Yes, that's the drug. See here: https://news.yahoo.com/remdesivir-clinical-trial-china-shows-191802316.html
I like EWTN. There is a danger of seeing everything too negatively. It makes the world a very, very dark place.
This virus is so strange. Bizarre really, the way of effects people. I was looking at people who are supposed to have recovered from it and to me they don't look right even still. The skin tone looks way off for instance. They look drained. I don't know they don't seem normal to me. I don't think this is something like the flu that you recover from and get back to normal. I think this virus takes something from us when it goes. I suspect if you get it for a second round you are in big , big trouble. This was the same way with the Spanish Flu in 1918. Governments are saying if you get it it is not so very bad. But I am more and more certain we should all we can to avoid it.
Yes, agreed. Plus, EWTN broadcasts many events and Masses and canonizations live. I usually recite my rosaries along with EWTN because I have a very short attention span. They have videos of the rosary from the Holy Land, Lourdes, and of course, from Mother Angelica and now from her priests. In this time of pandemic they have Adoration live.
Look at this pattern in new cases for the USA, which has carried the worst of the new caseload on its back for a month: 4/24 38,958 4/25 35,419 4/26 21,960 This is a sure sign that the worst is over here in the States. If they continue the shutdowns past May 15 then something will be very, very wrong. It will be difficult to ramp up the economy quickly as is; if we wait until June it will be the nail in the coffin, or even lawlessness in the streets. Lord, do not let this charade be prolonged! Mercy! Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
Thanks for the beautiful response Mario. Prayers for this forum are never too far from my beads...and you are one of the originals so really wanted to chime in. Our Lady is very steadfast in my life right now. I was not able to make my consecration last year with all that was going on in my life but I am at the midway point of the consecration right now and find myself getting lost in prayer (in a good way).
