This doesn't merely involve having too many people living in close proximity, bad enough in itself in the face of infectious disease. It also strips rural areas of wealth and population as many rural dwellers are forced to move to the urban cosmopolises in search of a living. Look at the situation in the example of Dublin. The growth of this city has caused a kind of boom, even while the rest of Ireland stagnates. The result has been a steep rise in Dublin property prices. Yet, the boom in incomes doesn't extend to ordinary working people, such as nurses, junior doctors, policemen or firemen and so on. Successive Irish governments have for years sought cheap nurses, while simultaneously raising the numbers and salaries of often worse than useless hospital administrative and secretarial staff. The chickens have come home to roost. Native Irish expensively-trained nurses left in droves for better pay and conditions abroad, to be replaced by transitory foreign nurses, such as the Philippines and India (mostly competent and dedicated, particularly the former). These nurses predominate in Dublin nursing homes. Due to the excessive house prices typical of these cities, they tend to live together in excessive numbers, while attending diverse nursing homes and institutions. They also have to use public transport, as cars and parking spaces are too expensive. The result is a perfect storm for contracting and transmitting infection. The massive growth in public transport in large cities is going to be absolutely deadly in future epidemics. The Green agenda promises to be utterly lethal.

When I started school in the 1950’s, we were taught that there was to be development from Washington, DC along the coast northeastward, to link the cities. It was to be called “megalopolis”. At the time, the outskirts of DC were very rural and farms predominated between DC and Baltimore and northeastward. Our situation today resembles what you have described so well in Ireland. There was a plan. I despise what has happened.
