Apparently a homesexual man and his 'married' , husband stormed out of Church in a fury after he had been refused communion. The Archbishop appears to take the homoesexual's side. Surprise, surprise. The safe money. http://theadvocate.com/news/12939016-75/married-gay-man-describes-denial
The Canon lawyer said, being married outside the church should not be used to deny someone the Eucharist, said the Rev. Roger Keeler, executive coordinator of the Canon Law Society of America. I contend that a Catholic married outside the Church is reason not to be admitted to Holy Eucharist, whether they are gay or not. The Church does not recognize a valid marriage of a baptized Catholic when married outside the faith.
I think that the bottom line is the CHurchAuthorities are afraid of being sued. Some people wil lalways chart the easiest course even if this means that principles are thrown overboard. They will keep trimming and trimming their principles till lne day they will wake up and find no principles left them.
There have always been good reason for doing a bad thing and bad reasons for doing a good thing. They have persuaded themselves that their own cowardice is simply prudence and are probably patting themselves on the back for something of which they should be utterly ashamed. It can be seen that jelly fish and Bishops often have something in common , in that Bishops too often have no back bone.
I was surprised and saddened when I read this article a few days ago. Archbishop Aymond was the bishop of our local diocese before being transferred to New Orleans. He always had a good reputation while he was here. I felt better after reading an article from May 2015 where the Archbishop discussed the importance of upholding traditional marriage laws, but then realized that it didn't excuse his lack of defense of Fr. Beard and the importance of receiving the Eucharist in a state of grace. http://theadvocate.com/news/12759915-75/archbishop-gregory-aymond-says-supreme I feel that the priest who withheld the Eucharist, Fr. Beard, should be affirmed and supported. It must be difficult to feel that your superiors "don't have your back". I saw his email address posted on another Catholic site and thought I'd share it in case anyone feels like giving this priest the "atta boy" that he deserves. His email is at the end of this rather scathing post about the New Orleans diocese. http://connecticutcatholiccorner.blogspot.com/2015/07/archdiocese-of-new-orleans-has-gay.html?m=1
Unbelievable. I keep thinking, 'Well it can;t get any worse...'. then to my amazement it does. Not just cowardice , but sell out.
