Happy Feast of the Annunciation. I was just wondering, has anyone posted about the 24 hours of prayer from Friday 24th to Saturday 25th March 2017. Maybe it was discussed and slow boat Julia has not come across it on MOG. Our parish held it. And I went for a few hours. Had to come home after a few hours because the Church was ice cold, and I was starving, and it all got too much. This is the second or third time Pope Francis has called for a 24 hour day of prayer all around the world. I have this gut feeling he knows something big is on the horizon. Like could it be the Warning.
Yes, at our main parish Church, confession was made available at numerous times throughout the period. So our main parish Priest must have killed two birds with one stone. That is Prayers for 24 hours and confession. It all feels more and more like the Pope knows something big is on the horizon.
Yes, I do not trust my own gut feelings; But when these extraordinary requests come from the Vatican, it makes me wonder is there something we need to be preparing for. And the gut feelings kick in. The thing is we know from reading about previous Popes, that mystics are sometimes sent to give them messages straight from Heaven, and the ordinary people only find out about these things long after the Pope has died. And you know this Pope has been known to say 'go out there and make a mess.' Well we have to admit this forum is proof he is leading in that department by example. I remember reading Mirjana from Medjugorje saying the signs of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Triumph were beginning to appear. She described it like a spring clean at home. First everything gets moved and emptied and it appears like a big mess. Then once the corners and crevices are cleaned, everything gets put back in place and everything looks nice and clean again. I wonder if this word could be a key to the trial or test we are going through in the Church at the moment. You know the other odd thing, as this is the Feast of the Annunciation. With the 100 year Fatima and Guadalupe Image signs in the sun, moon and stars this year.... I believe before the children are born, expectant mothers get the urge to do a good spring clean. I believe other mothers will know what I mean.. Could Blessed Mother be sending a message in preparation for the 23rd September talked about on other threads. like Blessed Mother is wanting to get the nest ready for a new arrival this year. Just a thought. I would be thinking 'Warning' or Illumination sometime this year in the form of a Global Pentecost. It is just a thought from the gut feeling.
I was just thinking about the Arcangel Gabriel last night and his role in the Annuciation. We tend to put poor old Gabriel into a box as a kind of messenger boy to Mary. But of course he is much more than that. I believe in the whole Bible only three angels are named and he is one. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. He is also described as one of the seven spirits that stand always in the presense of God so he is a real biggie. Since Gabriel was given the task of announcing the Annunciation he must have had a big, big role in preparing the way for it right back to King David and beyond. Clearly to he the leader of the angels assigned to Mary, to serve and care for her. He is a very Marian angel. Blessed Mary of Agreda says that the angels assigned to Mary have a special symbol of coat of arms marking them out. If we love Mary then we will have a special love for st Gabriel and all the Marian angels. Again and again at the Marian apparitions we see angels present. Gabriel must be one of them. The foremost.
I always think of God as the perfect gentleman. He would knock before entering. I would have believed He would have given a few warnings to Mary before St Gabriel showed up in her mothers house in Nazareth. I would like to believe he will knock on our door a little before big events happen on the Earth too. However it is bit like hearing the birds singing in the early morning. Unless you listen you will not hear the birds singing , no matter how hard the poor things sing their hearts out. I am afraid very, very few even of our Catholic sisters and brothers are listening for the knocking on the door let alone standing with lamps lit by attending the Sacraments, especially the sacrament of Confession frequently. For most, sadly the Lord will indeed come at an hour that none of them expect. God is singing His heart out. So few listen. Luke 12:40 You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
I often wondered and thought that Mary must have had mystical experiences so when St. Gabriel came to her, she was ready to accept her role. Good to know others have considered this too.
In the book ,' Mystical City of God' , Venerable Mary of Agreda has Our Lady seeing Legions of Angels sent to protect her. Literally Legions of them. This throws some people who say they think of Mary as , 'Ordinary' . I don't know I like these stories of Legions of Angels . Of course when St Peter went and cut of the the ear off one of the guards in the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus said, 'Don't you know if I asked my Father would send a Legion of angels to protect me?' Which to me might hint that Jesus has seen Legions of angels round and about. I don't have a problem that Our Lady might see loads of interesting mystical stuff. Why not? The so many of the saints did, why not their mother?
In one of my favorite little books to read from before Mass is the Pieta Prayer book. Within this book is the Chaplet of St. Michael with the promises of the legions of angles at your side during life and escorting to heaven by the recitation of this chaplet. Powerful prayer indeed for our time.
I used to love reading some very, very old books by St Gertrude and her spiritual daughter , St Mechtilde who had all kind of revelations on the angels; amongst other things: 'Saint Gertrude had a deep empathy for the Church suffering, the Holy Souls in Purgatory. At every Holy Communion she beseeched Jesus for His mercy to be bestowed on them. During one Holy Communion she experienced the descent into Purgatory with Our Lord. She heard Him say: "At Holy Communion I will permit thee to draw forth all to whom the fragrance of thy prayers penetrates." After Holy Communion Our Lord customarily delivered more Souls than she had dared to ask for. One time when Gertrude was praying with great fervor for the Holy souls, she asked Our Lord how many Souls His mercy would release, He answered: "My love urges Me to release the Poor Souls. If a beneficent king leaves his guilty friend in prison for justice's sake, he awaits with longing for one of his nobles to plead for the prisoner and to offer something for his release. Then the king joyfully, sets him free. Similarly, I accept with highest pleasure what is offered to Me for the Poor Souls, for I long inexpressibly to have near Me those for whom I paid so great a price. By the prayers of thy loving soul, I am induced to free a prisoner from Purgatory as often as thou dost move thy tongue to utter a word of prayer!" [29] Our Savior taught Gertrude for whom she should most ardently pray for. On the day when the community commemorated in common the death of their parents, Gertrude saw the happy souls ascend the darkness of Purgatory like sparks from a flame. She asked Our Lord if all these were relatives. He answered: "I am thy nearest relative, thy father and thy mother. Therefore, My special friends are thy nearest relatives, and these are among those whom I have liberated." [30] GERTRUDE was asked by someone, that when she offered to God all the gratuitous gifts with which He had favored her, to request that she might have a share in their merit. "As she prayed thus, she perceived this person standing before the Lord, Who was seated on His throne of glory, and held in His hand a robe magnificently adorned, which He presented to her, but still without clothing her in it. The Saint, being surprised at this, said to Him: 'When I made a similar offering to Thee, a few days since, Thou didst at once take the Soul of the poor woman for whom I prayed to the joys of Paradise; and why, most loving Lord, dost Thou not now clothe this person with the robe which thou hast shown her, and which she so ardently desires, through the merits of the graces Thou hast bestowed on me, though so un worthy of them?' Our Lord answered: 'When anything is offered to Me for the faithful departed, I immediately use it for them, according to My natural inclination to show mercy and pardon, either for the remission of their sins for their consolation, or for the increase of their eternal felicity, according to the condition of those for whom the offering is made.'" [31] PRAYER TO FREE 1000 SOULS FROM PURGATORY: PROMISE PRAYER A Prayer Which Would Release 1,000 Souls From Purgatory Each Time It Is Said: Our Lord told St. Gertrude the Great that the following prayer would release 1,000 Souls from Purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was later extended to include living sinners as well. "ETERNAL FATHER, I OFFER THEE THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF THY DIVINE SON, JESUS, IN UNION WITH THE MASSES SAID THROUGHOUT THE WORLD TODAY, FOR ALL THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen." APPROVAL AND RECOMMENDATION: M. Cardinal Pahiarca at Lisbon, Portugal, March 4, 1936' http://www.catholictradition.org/Gertrude/revelations13.htm
Padraig I am having Holy Mass at my home tomorrow night for allegory souls of family and those who have lived here in past times. Please pray that there will be an enormous amount of souls delivered.
I will pray Mary, but no masses can compare to the value of a mass. It is wonderful the way you keep offering them up for the Holy Souls. There will be a football crowd of Holy Souls to greet you on your death bed. Wait and see. St Michael will not be able to get near you to take you to heaven with the massive crowd of Holy Souls , there to say, 'Thank you!!!' If there is one sure way to avoid Purgatory have masses said for the Holy Souls. It is a sure fire. I am not sure what an , 'Allegory soul', is? I am a little curious , has there been any further disturbances in your house since I left?
Predictive text is a curse. It should have read as holy souls!. My house has been very peaceful since your visit. Today though my husband's horse that he just trained died of a colic. He is heartbroken but I'm telling him to offer it up for holy week. Thanks for all your encouraging words.
