The exit polls for elections to the French National Assembly were announced tonight. They indicate that in the first round of voting the right wing party, National Rally, will have the largest share of the vote. Many businesses in Paris wisely had their windows boarded up even prior to this result and the French riot police were in place awaiting the inevitable - rioting by the leftists. Sure enough, the leftists are out on the streets burning a looting. The same thing happened a few weeks ago (which went almost unreported by the MSM) when the opinion polls indicated this same outcome. When the leftists went out on a spree of arson and destruction in Paris and other cities where the left have majority support together with a large Muslim presence. Palestinian flags were much in evidence whilst French flags were destroyed. The government supporting 'national broadcaster' calls the National Rally 'far right' but calls the leftist coalition, which includes the Communists, 'progressives' - naturally. This might not excite much interest outside France except that, over centuries, dozens of Catholic mystics, including saints, beati and venerables have prophesied that the time of the minor tribulation begins with a civil war in France, followed by a civil war in Italy, followed by general unrest in Europe and then a Russian invasion of Europe defeated by the 'Great King'. The left in Israel are also rioting in support of 'Palestine' today. They presumably think that Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran will spare them - some hopes. Md. said destroy the Jews, he didn't differentiate. BREAKING: Left Wing Riots In France Following Le Pen Victory (youtube.com)
Many prayers for poor France, Eldest Daughter of the Church at this time! This according to Catholic Prophesy looks very, very grim. https://ia904706.us.archive.org/26/items/CatholicProphecy/CatholicProphecy.pdf Particular Events The whole world will be involved in the fighting. A unique feature is the internal disintegration of the Western democra cies and the invasion of Western Europe by Arab forces. The roles of the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. are not clear in the beginning. The U.S.A. may be involved in the Far-East or at home or both. The U.S.S.R. may want to keep out of the fray at first, while abetting the Arab world, or may be invo~ved in Siberia. Civil wars rage in Western Europe. The Church is perse cuted; the Pope leaves Rome and dies in exile; an anti-pope is installed in Rome; the Catholic Church is split, leaderless and completely disorganized. Communism is victorious. The Mo hammedans invade Europe and commit innumerable atroci ties. In the West, however, Christians rally around an unex~ pected leader, an army officer of royal blood, but their chances seem very slim. The natural disturbances begin: floods, droughts, famine
It's very aggravating. When the left win all is peaceful and fine. When the right win the Woke and left go crazy. The Right are not allowed or supposed to win.
The evil is palpable.. in society and even in our personal lives. So many are suffering in so many ways. How long oh Lord?
Strange that the left are rioting. There's certainly nothing left wing about Macron and he was the biggest loser. Didn't the far left make something of a comeback, pushing Macron's party into third place. I got the impression that the plan was to unite all the left wing parties, giving the voters a viable alternative to Macron or LePen. I'm not sure how the French system works, but I think they will have another round of voting and Macron's supporters could tip the balance. They won't like the left but long term LePen could pose the biggest long term threat to them. What once were clear divisions between left and right have become rather blurred. Rent-a-crowd seems to come in all shades, depending on the wizard behind the curtain.
It seems very technical but the second round seems to be the killer for anyone that wants to overthrow the Status Quo. The place where the wanna be's come to die. I would guess , given their political history that the French public are the most sophisticated political people on planet Earth. It was from Paris that the terms , 'Left' and 'Right' originated. So their voting patterns will be equally clued up. It's so very hard to understand another countries politics but in the case of France, as an outsider I would say impossible. Years and years ago I had a conversation with a gentleman who fought in the French Resistance against the German occupation during the Second World War. He told me the accounts in the films and books about the French Resistance being regarded as heroes by the population at the time as heroes was totally wrong. He said they were despised by the French population as Terrorists and Communists (in fact at least half of them were in fact Communists). But it reminded me I knew nothing at all about things French political.
You're probably right. I know precious little about our own circus, never mind the goings on in France. I just get the impression that the left/right labels and their variations are used conveniently by influencers depending on the target audience of their readers or viewers and depending on the general mood in a country. I do know that Macron is considered a conservative and one of his last ditch attempts to win the favour of the electorate was to double down on their abortion law. That in a country with an abysmal birth rate were it not for the immigrants from their former colonies letting their children be born.
It's very, very technical. Even for a bit of a political geek. It reminds me of the electoral processes in the USA which was highly influenced by France, their Founding Fathers being highly influenced by the French Revolution. It is highly balanced constitutionally. To kinda even things out. To strike a considered political balance. They always feared tyranny. Some kinda King or Emperor. They still do, both in France or the USA. Very wise. Compare this to Russia, or China or Iran were they seem to desire some kind of Monarch. Or Israel were they claim to be a Democracy but always seem to be stuck with the same leader. A result of a bad Constitutional set up perhaps..
On French TV many years ago Mireille Mathieu used to sing the French National Anthem just before close down. A different country back them. She was so French. A beautiful voice. But the First Republic murdered Catholics like crazy in the Vendee. Still it is a wonderful National Anthem. But very, very bloodthirsty.
Thursday, December 08, 2005 Italy during the nineteenth century was rife with thoughts of revolution, followed by insurrections. Even the Papal States did not go untouched and many times the Reigning Pontiffs would have to seek the help of either France or Austria. Because of the heavy handed Austrian occupation of different parts of Italy this would lead many into secret societies in order for the people of Italy to rid themselves of the Austrian military. These revolutions would often place the Pontiff in a precarious position, as it tried to maintain order and also justice. Unfortunately this was also the Era of free thinkers and those who refused to follow any authority, as they sought to overthrow differing Governing Bodies and also defied The Church! Into this landscape was born one John Bosco in the year 1815 to a poor family who though devout struggled to educate their family. Unfortunately John's Father died when he was very young, which left his mother, Margaret to raise her children on her own. John Bosco, was blessed with a curious mind and an exuberant personality which won him many friends. And it would be this that held him in good stead when he became a Priest and worked towards providing a good education for the poor boys in his area. But John Bosco also had another distinction for God had blessed him with visions of future events and warnings for his country, the youth's he looked after and the world. The visions John received started at the tender age of only nine years old and would be with him till the end. And upon instruction from Pope Pius IX, John complied with the Popes request to write his visions down for prosperity and the edification of the Faithful. These visions of John Bosco would inform him of boys that were in his care who were about to die, this enabled Fr. John to make sure the boys soul was not in a state of sin. But John Bosco also received these visions, as if in a dream, which he relayed in his writings. One of these was in the year 1870, where he explains what he saw and heard, "War will come from the south, peace from the north. The laws of France no longer recognize the Creator. The Creator will reveal Himself by visiting her three times with the scourge of His wrath. The first time He will destroy her pride by defeat, pillage, and destruction of crops, cattle, and men. On His second visit the great whore of Babylon, which the faithful grievingly call Europe's brothel, shall lose her leader and fall prey to chaos."Paris! Paris! Instead of fortifying yourself with the Lord's name, you surround yourself with houses of ill repute. You yourself shall destroy them; your idol, the Pantheon, will be razed to the ground, so that it may truthfully be said that 'iniquity has lied to itself. Your enemies will plunge you into anguish, famine, terror, and the contempt for My law, says the Lord." As John continued to speak of what he was told,"On My third visit, you shall fall under the foreign yoke. From afar your enemies will see your palaces in flames, your home in ruins, soaked in the blood of your heroes who are no more."But behold, a great warrior from the north appears, a banner in his right hand, his arm bearing this inscription: 'Irresistible is the hand of the Lord. 'At that moment the Venerable Old Man of Rome went forward to meet him, wielding a flaming torch. The banner then grew larger and its blackness became white as snow; in its center stood out the name of the Almighty in golden letters." The vision continued with this ominous warning, "Now the voice of Heaven is addressed to the Shepherd of Shepherds. You are in solemn conference with your co-workers but the enemy of good never stands idle. He cunningly plots and sets all his wiles against you. He will sow discord among your helpers and will rear enemies among My sons. The powers of the world shall vomit fire. They would love to smother My words in the throats of the guardians of My law, but they shall not succeed. They shall do much harm, but only to themselves. Hurry! If knots cannot be untied, sever them. Do not halt in the face of difficulties, but go forth until the hydra of error has been beheaded At this blow earth and hell shall tremble, but he world will be saved and the faithful shall exult. Gather around you only two co-workers, yet wherever you go,carry on the task entrusted to you and bring it to completion. Days go by swiftly and your years are reaching their appointed number, but the great Queen shall always assist you, and, as in the past, She shall always be magnum et singulare in Ecclesia praesidium.
And the vision continued, "But you, O Italy, land of blessings, who has plunged you into desolation? Not your enemies, but your own friends. Do you not hear your children begging for the bread of faith, unable to find one to break it for them? What shall I do? I shall strike the shepherds and scatter the sheep so that those who sit upon the chair of Moses may seek better pastures and their flock may gently listen and be fed. "But My hand shall be heavy upon both flock and shepherds. Famine, plague, and war shall cause mothers to mourn the blood of their sons and husbands shed on foreign soil. "What shall befall you, ungrateful, effeminate, proud Rome? You have reached a point when you seek and admire nought in your sovereign but luxury, forgetting that both your glory and his lies on Golgotha. Now he is old, frail, defenceless, and dispossessed. Nevertheless, though captive, his words cause the whole world to tremble. "O Rome! Four times shall I come to you! The first time I shall smite your regions and its people. The second time I shall bring slaughter and destruction to your very gates. Should not that make you open your eyes? A third time shall I come, and I will demolish your defences and defenders. At My Father's command, terror, dismay and desolation will reign." And this particular vision goes on to exhort the Faithful to remain strong and hold onto the Truth's of the Church, and warns against those who prefer more 'worldly' pleasures at the risk of their eternal soul. But our Lord also consoles the faithful with these words given to John from the same vision, "Things follow too slowly upon each other, but the great Queen of Heaven is at hand; the Lord's power is Hers. Like mist She shall scatter Her enemies. She shall vest the Venerable Old Man with all his former garments."There shall yet come a violent hurricane. Iniquity is at an end, sin shall cease, and before two full moons shall have shone in the month of flowers, the rainbow of peace shall appear on the earth. "The great Minister shall see the Bride of his King clothed in glory. Throughout the world a sun so bright shall shine as was never seen since the flames of the Cenacle until today, nor shall it be seen again until the end of time." Even though St. John Bosco would see these incredible and terrifying sights and as our Lord revealed to him the future of the world if man did not repent and return to God. Still John Bosco in himself never lost his peace of mind or soul, but instead relied on prayer to placate the mighty hand of Justice. But the most famous of St. John Bosco's vision is this one and still holds as a warning for us all today. As John saw and heard, and recounted, "In the midst of this endless sea, two solid columns, a short distance apart, soar high into the sky. One is surmounted by a statue of the Immaculate Virgin, at whose feet a large inscriptions reads:" 'Auxilium Christianorum' ('Help of Christians') . The other, far loftier and sturdier, supports a Host of proportionate size, and bears beneath it the inscription: 'Salus credentium' ('Salvation of believers'). "The flagship commander - the Roman Pontiff- standing at the helm, strains every muscle to steer his ship between the two columns, from whose summits hang many anchors and strong hooks linked to chains. The entire enemy fleet closes in to intercept and sink the flagship at all costs. They bombard it with everything they have: books and pamphlets, incendiary bombs, firearms, cannons. The battle rages ever more furious. Beaked prows ram the flagship again and again, but to no avail, as, unscathed and undaunted, it keeps on it course. At times, a formidable ram splinters a gaping hole in its hull, but immediately, a breeze from the two columns instantly seals the gash. And the same vision continues with this warning, "Meanwhile, enemy cannons blow up; firearms and beaks fall to pieces; ships crack up and sink to the bottom. In blind fury, the enemy takes to hand-to-hand combat, cursing and blaspheming. Suddenly the Pope falls, seriously wounded. He is instantly helped up, but struck a second time, dies. A shout of victory rises from the enemy, and wild rejoicing seeps their ships. But no sooner is the Pope dead than another takes his place. The captains of the auxiliary ships elected him so quickly that the news of the Pope's death coincides with that of his successor's election. The enemy's self-assurance wanes. "Breaking through all resistance, the new Pope steers his ship safely between the two columns; first, to the one surmounted by the Host, and then the other, topped by the statue of the Virgin. At this point, something unexpected happens. The enemy ships panic and disperse, colliding with and scuttling each other. "Some auxiliary ships, which had gallantly fought alongside their flagship, are the first to tie up at the two columns. Many others, which had fearfully kept far away from the fight, stand still, cautiously waiting until the wrecked enemy ships vanish under the waves. Then they too head for the two columns, tie up at the swinging hooks and ride safe and tranquil beside their flagship. A great calm now covers the sea. " These visions of St. John Bosco though told over a century ago still hold true in today’s world as 'secularisation and modernism' infiltrate the Church and consumerism consumes the masses. But even though The Church will go through purgation still we hold true to Jesus Promise that even the gates of hell will not prevail against The Church. I would encourage all to read about the Visions of St. John Bosco. Marie at 12/08/2005 06:56:00 AM https://faithofthefathersapparitions.blogspot.com/2005/12/prophecies-of-st-john-bosco.html?m=1
I never liked it even before I learned its ugly words and that it was the work of a Mason at the request of a grand master or whatever the Masons call the men they substituted for the priesthood. The French probably believe that it celebrates their freedom but this is what it celebrates and it will continue to drag them down until they reject their violent bloodbath in its entirety: And we can't claim the high moral ground. The older I get, the more I realise how unhealthy excessive nationalism can be - a kind of idol worship. Being French, Irish, American or any other ethnicity or nationality is not what makes us a holy nation and a people set apart. Being grafted onto the vine that is Our Lord Jesus is all we need. When we lose sight of that or act as though our faith is not an unearned free gift, we put ourselves in grave danger of being led far from God. This talk by Bishop Barron should be compulsory listening for every Catholic. The Bishop was speaking to priests but the message is timeless and particularly relevant at this point in time:
I don't know if it is possible to love your country too much, anymore than it might be possible to love your family too much. However I would agree that such love can be misplaced where people, for instance mistake the Government of a country or a party of the country for the country itself. I see the teaching of the Catholic Church is that it is the duty of every Catholic to be Patriotic. I never knew this. When I think of people who died for their country in war I always think of the words of Jesus, 'No greater love has a man than this than that he lay down his life for a friend'. https://littleflowermemphis.org/2022/07/03/patriotism/ 'Should Catholics be patriotic, having a love for their fatherland? According to the Catechism, “The love and service of one’s country follow from the duty of gratitude and belong to the order of charity” (CCC 2239). Catholic Church teaching is that patriotism is not an option; it’s a duty. Pope Leo XIII writing in 1890 indicated, “To love both countries, that of earth below and that of heaven above … is the essential duty of Christians” (Sapientiae Christianae, par 11). Patriotism is rooted in gratitude for the blessings we enjoy in our common home. Patriotism stems from an obedience to the fourth commandment, “Honor thy father and mother”, and is itself a virtue related to piety and the cardinal virtue of justice. As the Catechism teaches, “The fourth commandment…shows us the order of charity. God has willed that, after him, we should honor our parents to whom we owe life and who have handed on to us the knowledge of God. We are obliged to honor and respect all those whom God, for our good, has vested with his authority” (CCC 2197). Those who are patriotic honor God who has vested the country with authority. As St. Paul writes, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established” (Romans 13:1). The book of Proverbs teaches, “Through me [God], kings reign and princes decree justice.” Christ tells Pilate, “You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above” (John 19:11). Understanding that it is by Providence that any one nation’s rulers have temporal power mandates that we honor those in authority, simply because God put them there. The Catechism does caveat obedience, however. We are not commanded to follow blindly anyone in authority, especially if they are enacting immoral laws contrary to natural moral law or divinely revealed law. The fourth commandment comes with blessings for those who obey and curses for those who don’t. Those who honor their parents (and authority) experience a better life because they are living in such a way as to honor God. Moses writes, “Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live a long time, and it may be well with you in the land, which the Lord your God will give you” (Deuteronomy 5:16). There are many curses described in Scripture for disobedience to parents. Moses puts it succinctly in Exodus, “Cursed be anyone who dishonors his father or his mother” (Exodus 27:16). The Catechism sums it up thus: “The duty of obedience requires all to give due honor to authority and to treat those who are charged to exercise it with respect, and, insofar as it is deserved, with gratitude and good-will” (CCC 1900). Patriotism can be seen as a form of familial love. This charity takes the form of being a good citizen, loving one’s neighbors. It informs our obligation to work for the common good and to preserve certain freedoms and fundamental human rights. On the contrary, to reject patriotism and love of one’s country is a violation of the fourth commandment and a serious offense to God. Catholics must love their homeland and this charity must manifest itself in efforts to work peacefully toward the good of all citizens. St. Thomas Aquinas, regarding Patriotism, teaches, “The reverence given to our country includes homage to all our fellow-citizens and to all the friends of our country” (STh. II-II, q101, a1). Patriotism as a proper love and honor toward one’s country is a part of the virtue of piety; therefore, Patriotism is a virtue. As Aristotle taught, virtue is the golden mean. The virtue of Patriotism is found in the middle of two extremes: nationalism, and an ungratefulness for the blessings of one’s country. The former can lead to the conquest over other nations’ rights and the latter to a disordered violence against other citizens. True Patriotism pays honor to our earthly kingdom according to I Peter 2:17 yet confesses our true citizenship under Christ the King. Venerable Fulton Sheen in a speech from the 1950’s explains that Patriotism is a virtue that is akin to the virtue the Greeks and Latins called ‘Pietas.’ Pietas means love of God, love of neighbor, love of country. He states, “[When] we no longer have love of God, we no longer have love of country” By offering God genuine worship and living according to his laws we become true Patriots. Several current prelates recently wrote concerning Patriotism, “All authority on earth as well as in heaven belongs to Jesus Christ; therefore, civil societies and all other associations of men are subject to His Kingship so that ‘the duty of offering God genuine worship concerns man both individually and socially” (“Declaration of the Truths Relating to Some of the Most Common Errors in the Life of the Church of Our Time”, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Cardinal Janis Pujats, Archbishop Tomash Peta, Archbishop Jan Pawel Lenga, Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider, May 31, 2019, 29). One of the most ancient prayers for country comes from Pope St. Clement, the 4th Pope, and is a beautiful legacy of the Catholic understanding of Patriotism. He prays for his nation’s rulers, “Grant to them, Lord, health, peace, concord, and stability, so that they may exercise without offense the sovereignty that You have given them. Master, heavenly King of the ages, You give glory, honor, and power over the things of earth to the sons of men. Direct, Lord, their counsel, following what is pleasing and acceptable in Your sight, so that by exercising with devotion and in peace and gentleness the power that You have given to them, they may find favor with You” (CCC 1900). As Catholic Patriots we must humbly pray for our rulers and our country. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!” (Psalm 33:12).'

Patriotism and extreme nationalism are not the same thing. Nowadays, love has been redefined to mean whatever makes us feel good in the moment. Triumphalism has replaced gratitude to God for success in struggle against a mortal enemy. Statues and shrines in honour of saints have been replaced by statues of military leaders and war memorials. War is seen as a good thing rather than man's failure to love others as he loves himself and politicians' failure to negotiate. Political leaders placing floral tributes on the tomb of the unknown soldier has replaced prayers for the souls of those killed in wars. How can people who don't understand the true meaning of love understand what it means to be patriotic?
