I especially loved the pictures of Our Blessed Lady from all across the world. Wonderful. Nothing could ever come close to her real beauty but still some of these were as close as mortals could ever come. I have the feeling sometimes looking at such pictues, icons and statues that heaven comes close to these poor human efforts to portray the impossibly glorious, that heaven is very close to these, you can feel it..
These icons reveal the beauty of our Catholic identity! I loved especially the one where Mary is cuddling Baby Jesus, resting her head on his. It brings back the many, many times of witnessing Geralyn holding, cuddling and nursing our children when they were babes. The intimacy of a mother with her child is profound! God's gift of Mary as Mother does not surprise me! Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
Its true, Terry, the love of a mother was, for most of us our first steps in prayer, for our mothers showed us not only that love was posible, but that it was real.
