Today in Garabandal History: September 22, 1961. Conchita had an ecstasy in her house at 10 o’clock at night. It lasted 110 minutes, she gave the crucifix to be kissed to those in the house and those outside through the window. The people tolerated the rain during this whole time and cried. The other 3 girls didn’t have ecstasies. Mari Cruz says that she had two calls but since it was late, she went to bed. Fr. Valentin Marichalar Torres , Notebook #1 , September 22, 1961 People always ask me why did Mary Cruz lose the visions of Mary so soon after they started. This might be an indication. Who in their right mind would refuse not one, but TWO callings from our Blessed Mother, to see her, but rather go to bed ?
Cardinal Fernandez placed Garabandal in the Curatur status under the new rules governing apparitions. Bottom line is that it is OK for private devotion, to go to the site and pray and go to the local church but nothing past that .. He said : "There are verifiable spiritual fruits connected to Garabandal". Here is a translated video :
SEPTEMBER 23, 1968 FEAST DAY OF SAINT PADRE PIO ! PADRE PIO'S BELIEF IN GARABANDAL Joey Lomangino’s recall of the when he talked to Padre Pio: “We made arrangements to come back again that same day and greeted Padre Pio in the cloister. When we knelt down, we said to him, “Padre Pio, is it true that the Virgin is appearing to the four girls of Garabandal?” And he said, “Yes.” We said, “Padre Pio, should we go there? He said, “Yes, why not?” And that’s how it happened. Because I received the assurance from Padre Pio that the Virgin was appearing and that he permitted me to go, then I wasn’t afraid and I went. “ ----------------------------------------------------------------- “Fr. Pelletier -“Our Lady comes to Garabandal” page 219 “While he was living, the same Padre Pio guaranteed the authenticity of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin. He met Conchita at San Giovanni Rotondo. Even during the last days of his life he talked about this to his brothers in religious life and left a personal message for the principle personage of the apparitions.
I have the impression she received much pushback from her family. I assume she did not have the resolve of a Lucia of Fatima.
September 24, 1962 “The girls live a life of true sacrifice. Conchita’s mother told me that she sleeps better in a chair than in her own bed now since she passes so much time sitting and waiting with us for the ecstasies. She sleeps supporting her head on the wall. The next day she goes to work, and so do the girls. They wash, clean, go to the river to do laundry, and continue with normal life. On Sundays they play in the road with the other girls from the village. We see them very little on the days when they work. They are very healthy and beautiful. They don’t show any signs of fatigue. They are very different from others in their character and their manner of acting. I asked them if they are friends, and they said that they were as good friends with each other as they were with the other girls in the village. What impresses me most is the way their faces change when they are in ecstasy.” Fr. Valentin Marichalar Torres , Notebook #2 , September 24, 1962

I was asked why is Conchita giving us 8 days notice before the” Great Miracle” ? The number eight in the Bible signifies “Resurrection and Regeneration.” It is the number of a new beginning. So it will be with the era after the Miracle.
…in regards to the decision about the supernatural at Garabandal, headlined in SpiritDaily, Ive read about Garabandal for decades. Ive read the studies done on the seers, everything Glenn posts, and talked to both priests and nuns devoted to belief in Garabandal. I, for one, cannot simply just dismiss all Ive learned and the supernatural nature of Garabandal, because of a decision made about it over 50 years after the fact. And I have my own theories as to why such a public pronouncement was made, but I’ll keep them to myself.
I remember one of the seers saying that something will happen just before the Warning/Miracle which will make many lose faith in the alleged apparitions. I wonder if this comment by Cardinal is the event referred to by the seer.
100% NO ! Did you know that BOTH Our Lady & Jesus both predicted something would happen before the Miracle. On December 6, 1962, Conchita had a 90 minute ecstasy around 5:30 in the afternoon after which, she provided more pieces of information regarding the Miracle: “One day, before the Miracle, something will happen that will cause many people to stop believing in the apparitions of Garabandal. “ Jesus comments on belief of Garabandal before the Miracle From Conchita, Dairy pg. 204, 1966: He [Jesus] replied..."I want to tell you, Conchita, that before the miracle occurs, you will suffer much, for few people will believe you. Your own family will believe that you have deceived them. I am the one who wants all this, as I have already told you, for your sanctification and so that the world may comply with the message. I wish to advise you that the remainder of your life will be a continual suffering. Do not be frightened. In your suffering you will find me and also Mary whom you love very much... I will be with whoever suffers for me."
CONCHITA ON LIVING AND SPREADING THE MESSAGE “ The Virgin wants you to help her in converting the world, and to evade the anger of God upon us, sinners. She relies upon you, so that by your example and sacrifice, you will serve as an example to others…who have not had the graces you have had in understanding her messages. She asks you to have a great spirit of repentance, sacrifice and prayer. Without these weapons, we could do nothing. We have not much time, but it is sufficient to escape the great Chastisement, and to satisfy the Sacred Heart of Our Mother. “ “Needles “ magazine May 1971 page 2
I must be very dense. Glenn, why "100% no"? I have a personal belief in Garabandal, and have for decades. But obedient Catholics might read the statement by the Cardinal and conclude that the Church has ruled that Garabandal is not of supernatural origin. The Spirit Daily article headline is: The Vatican Concludes That There Are No “Supernatural” Elements In The Apparitions Of The Virgin of San Sebastian de Garabandal In The 1960s But Allows Private Worship This certainly might lead people to not believe in the apparitions. Whether we agree or not with the opinion, why could this "100% not" be the happening that leads some to stop believing?
I think that's in reference to my mistake in attributing "something will happen that will cause many people to stop believing in the apparitions of Garabandal" to one of the seers and not to Jesus and Mary. But I'm with you on the Cardinal's statement. It's a blow alright.
Something much worse than this . No one I know and I have hundreds of thousands of members could care less about this announcement , it didnt change their belief one bit . It scares me to think what could be so bad for people not to believe.
First that article is wrong, as usual when it comes to Garabandal. The Church has a very strict and precise terminology for judging alleged apparitions (very few apparitions are officially approved). According to the norms of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, alleged apparitions are classified in one of three categories: Constat de supernaturalitate - It is certain that the events are of supernatural origin. Constat de non supernaturalitate - It is certain that the events are not of supernatural origin. Non-constat de supernaturalitate - It is not certain that the events are of supernatural origin. Garabandal is part of the third group. " A BAN IS NOT RECOMMENDED ,IT WOULD UPSET THE PEOPLE OF GOD " No one I know and I have hundreds of thousands of members could care less about this announcement , it didnt change their belief one bit . Besides , the fact we havent had the Warning yet , and the Miracle is even further away, makes me think , it will be something much worse that happens to cause doubt with the casual or uneducated current believer. WHAT AND WHO CAN STOP GOD FROM CARRYING OUT HIS LAST PLAN FOR GLOBAL SALVATION ? ANY WHO FALTER IN THEIR BELIEF WILL ONE DAY WAKE UP TO THE WARNING AND ITS IMPACT ON THEIR SOUL, STILL THINK THEY WILL DISBELIEVE ? I FOR ONE AM NOT WORRIED.
Pope John Paul I died today on September 28,1978. (only 33 days after being installed as Pontiff). Now I mention this with good reason. His passing actually caused one of the prophecy misunderstandings. When Conchita said there would be "3 more popes, until " the end of the times" she was not counting Pope John Paul I because of his short reign ( as Mary had told her ! ) Albrecht Weber, the author of the book “The Finger of God“, had become involved in Garabandal in 1963 and became friendly with Conchita. On November 14, 1965, the day after the last apparition of Our Lady in Garabandal, Mr. Weber interviewed Conchita at her home in the presence of her mother. There was also present with Mr. Weber an interpreter. During that interview, it came out that when Conchita had spoken, on the very day that Pope John XXIII died, of “Three more Popes and then would come "the end of the times,” (NOT the end of all time ) her mother had asked her several questions. In response to one of her mother’s questions, Conchita responded that Our Lady had actually said that there would be FOUR MORE POPES but that She was not counting one of them. When Conchita’s mother heard that she strictly forbade Conchita to repeat that again as her mother feared there would be erroneous interpretations and much gossip. People might wrongly believe that one of the Popes might be false or bad, etc. During that conversation with her mother, Conchita also said that Our Lady had told her that one of the Popes would have a very short reign.
Wow, that’s a bit frightening for me. I’m very devoted to Our Lady of Garabandal. I really hope that I’m not one of those who lose faith.
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: SEPTEMBER 29, 1967: In the evening of the Feast of St. Michael, Conchita, preferring not to join this group in prayer, rather climbed up to the Pines with a few other persons. While the visionary and her friends knelt down in prayer, a star rose and remained above them during their whole prayer! Excerpt from 'Garabandal' Book, J. Serre, page 214
