The odd turn of the visionary's statement concerning the location from which the Sovereign Pontiff will see the Miracle, leads us to suppose that he will not be at the Vatican for the great event. Thats an easy one to answer. Why the late hour visitations ? When the children were asked why the Virgin came at such late hours, they answered that the Virgin told them that it was at that time most of the sins of the world were committed and that they should do penance... And for them it was a penance, and not the smallest, to stay up until the Virgin came to visit them, late in the night, or very early in the morning. They performed this penance because the Virgin wanted it and also because they wanted to see her again. From “Memoirs of Spanish Priest” pg 51

And when I entered into Ceferino’s house Jacinta said: “Fr. Valentín is here with his notebook.” After a little while, she grabbed me by the cassock and laughingly took me from place to place. She made the sign of the cross over me next to Elena’s house. She arrived at the Church. I had closed it, but not locked it. She pushed the door and entered the Church. I asked the priests why she went into the Church since the Bishop didn’t want them to go into the Church. Upon saying this, she stood up and left. Jacinta fell out of ecstasy at 5:20 in Conchita’s house. Loli fell into ecstasy at the same time and she left her house and went toward the Church. Mari Cruz also had an ecstasy that day; she gave the crucifix to be kissed and when she went to the Church she said: “Oh, I forgot,” then she returned to the house and got the crucifix. It ended at 5:20. At 11 they left again in ecstasy and I told her that the theologians said that they weren’t happy. They went to the Pines and when they came down it was night. Jacinta said: “She ordered us like that.” They went up to the Pines and they came down rapidly. After, they went through the street. Then they went to Conchita’s house and spent two hours there praying the rosary. They called people by their names: Carmen and Margarita. Although she didn’t go up, the Virgin said that there was a Margarita. (They said that there was a Dominican dressed like a layman). Jacinta said that there was a priest. When I went up, they said: “Now there are two. Fr. Valentín is one,” and when the Dominican left they said: “Now it is only Fr. TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1961: KING BAUDOIN AGAIN AT SAN SEBASTIAN DE GARABANDAL The Belgian sovereign had already visited San Sebastian de Garabandal several times. Taking advantage of holidays he was spending in Spain with his wife of Spanish origin, Queen Fabiola, he returned to this village on September 12, 1961. He thus attended the ecstasies of that day and even found himself "bound" to one of the visionaries in a particular way. One of them made a step backward and stepped on his foot, to the point of keeping him rooted to the spot! At the funeral Mass for King Baudoin (d. July 31, 1993), Cardinal Daneels (Malines - Brussels) dwelt at length on the "secret" of the deceased man. Under the cover of the monarch's public activities, flowed a calm and hidden spring: his life in God, to the rhythm of prayer and penance with a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin, whom he venerated very particularly as "Our Lady of Mount Carmel," and to the Eucharist. "The day will come when the Sovereign's 'secret' will be revealed, and the world will then be in amazement," explained Cardinal Daneels. TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: SEPTEMBER 13, 1961: THE NIGHT OF THE FIFTY ECSTASIES! From midnight to 4 A.M., Loli and Conchita had close to fifty ecstasies at Cochita's home. Taking advantage of a moment of intermission, Reverend Ramon de la Riva, handed Conchita his old camera equipped with bellows and suggested that she take a photo of the Blessed Virgin. The girl rather handed the camera to Mari-Loli, then in ecstasy; she, not knowing anything about operating this camera, nevertheless went through the five steps needed to take a picture. The photos were failures . . . The Blessed Virgin explained through the intermediary Mari-Loli to the good pastor of Barro, that "even if these photos had been better, he would not in any way have believed more than he already did." TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY : SEPTEMBER 15, 1961: THE "FILM OF SINNERS" unfolds before the eyes of Mari-Cruz and Conchita! In the two Messages of Garabandal, the prediction of the Chastisement that will strike the entire human race, if the latter persists in its immoral behavior, strongly expresses what Msgr. Beitia Aldazabal, the principle titular bishop of Santander at the time of the apparitions and locutions, called "the doctrine of God offended by our sins." This expression occurs eight hundred times in the Bible. In the Old Covenant, it is already associated with the holiness of God. Horror of sin was instilled in the girls from the beginning of the apparitions by a Marian catechesis sustained and, at times, even highlighted with very painful ecstasies bearing on the iniquity of the world and the ordeals it would create. While awaiting original complementary documents, we set this terrifying vision, during which the Blessed Virgin showed the "film of sinners" to the visionaries, on September 15, Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. Then the terrified protestations of the children were heard: "No, no! , , , What horror! How hideous! Take that away (from our sight) . . . Yes, sacrifices (for sinners)! . . ." TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY September 17, 1962 Conchita and (Mari) Loli received Communion from the Angel in the morning at the door of the Church. Loli had an apparition alone at 1. It lasted 15 minutes. She gave medals, rings, and rosaries to the Virgin to kiss. She didn’t leave the house. "A widow gave me her wedding rings that day; since she was a widow she had her husband’s ring as well. I put the 6 rings that were given to me on my finger, and without explanation I asked for Loli’s finger and put them on hers. She had 10 wedding rings on her fingers. TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY SEPTEMBER 18, 1962: September 18, 1962, Tuesday. In the morning Loli and Conchita received Communion from the Angel at the door of the Church. In the afternoon the other two girls had an apparition at 5:30. It lasted an hour and a half. They met in the street and ran throughout the village, praying the rosary. They went up to the Pines and descended backwards. It ended at the door of the Church, and they lifted each other to kiss and be kissed by the Virgin. Fr. ON THIS ANNIVERSARY DAY OF THE "APPARITIONS OF LA SALETTE" Mari-Loli and Jacinta again mentioned the theme of communism. A theme suited to the occasion on this anniversary of the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at La Salette, on September 19, 1846. We know that certain elements of Melanie's famous secret indeed concerned the great evil of communism that was then soon to begin to spread more and more throughout the world . . . As they came out of their ecstasy, the two visionaries did not want to disclose Our Lady's words: these were certainly related to the very difficult period of time of the Pre-Aviso ( pre-warning) . September 20, 1962Don't try to test our Blessed Mother ! Loli had an apparition at 3 in the morning. It lasted half an hour. She gave the cross for everyone to kiss and gave cards to the Virgen to kiss. A man put something on the table that had already been kissed as a test. The girl lifted it up with the other things to be kissed, and we heard her say: “Oh! It has already been kissed!” One of the rosaries that she gave the Virgin fell to the ground, and it was the rosary that the man had put on the table. Fr.
