We have a relic of a bone from the forearm of St. Jude in our church today, double whammy. Will bring the intentions of everyone here there, hope of the hopeless and all.
Incredible that it has been announced that federal funding to planned parenthood will be ended today.
Just got back from church, wont be going to mass today because it is too packed. Many here are consecrated to St. Jude from their birth. Mexico has the tallest monument to St. Jude in the world, so the relic being here is a really big deal. People busing in from out of town. It's a big fiesta, Mariachi band playing in front of the church steps. Paella and tamales for sale. Lots of kids did not go to school today. Brought everyone's intentions.
Yes, how marvelous a feast day! And Holy Mass was like a Sunday, consisting of 2 readings with a Psalm in-between and then, of course, the Gospel. Luke 1 is my favorite chapter of the whole Bible!
What stays n mind when I am saying the mystery of the Annunciation is the words of a demon to Father Ripperger concerning Our Blessed Lady. It is so funny to be given a homily by a demon! But there you go. The demon said that what set Mary apart and why they really envied her was that on every occasion when given a choice she always chose to do God's Will. Not only did she do so but she never hesitated, she never thought about the cost to herself she just went for it. There was a sung song by Tammy Wynette called, 'No charge', years ago about a child who wants to charge his mother for doing work about the house. The mother in turn lists all she does for the child and the child tears up his bill and says no charge. I admired this sung and told my mother about it. But instead of admiring the song she became angry. She told me no one had forced her to become a mother she had freely chosen to do so. This being so she had a duty to look after her children that it was no a matter of her doing them favours. This is such a different way of looking at things in comes in at a much higher level than the song suggests. This is the same as Mary at the Annuciation, she is operating a very,very high level. She is firing on all four spiritual cylinders.
