I Created a new song...St. Therese's poem "Canticle to the Holy Face"

Discussion in 'Music' started by non sum dignus, May 13, 2025.

  1. Upon the height where ancient branches lean,
A Mother walked, in majesty unseen.
Beneath the brown of Carmel’s sacred fold,
A timeless plea for wandering souls she told.
With Scapular held and Rosary in hand,
She shed her light upon a darkened land.

    (Verse 1)
Garabandal, where Heaven touched the earth,
To call the soul toward its second birth.
"Return, return," the Mother’s voice implores,
To seek the peace that prayer alone restores.
The hour is late, the shadows lengthen fast,
O, turn to God while mercy’s moments last.

    [Verse 2]
"The cup o’erflows," she spoke with heavy grace,
"Make sacrifice to seek the Father’s face.
In Penance find the path the saints have trod,
And let your hearts be centered on your God.
" Within the Host, the hidden King resides,
Wait for the Lord where Sacred Love abides.

    [Bridge]
By the Cross that stands amidst the Pines,
The light of truth and holy justice shines.
A Warning comes to strip the soul’s disguise,
To see our lives through Heaven’s piercing eyes.
A Miracle shall bloom upon the hill,
To move the heart and bend the stubborn will.

    [Chorus]
Garabandal, where Heaven touched the earth,
To call the soul toward its second birth.
"Return, return," the Mother’s voice implores,
To seek the peace that prayer alone restores.
The hour is late, the shadows lengthen fast,
O, turn to God while mercy’s moments last.

    [Outro]
    A Mother’s tears, a Mother’s constant plea,
By Carmel’s grace, lead us, O Lord, to Thee.
    Amen. Amen.

Thank you for this, non sum dignus, it catches significant themes from the apparitions, but the melody and lyrics add a touch of beauty that point to Our Lady's own incomparable beauty and humility!(y)

You do an excellent job of melding accuracy, inspiration, prayer, and warning into one!

  5. One of my greatest joys was putting my kids to bed. I would tell stories, sing songs and say prayers with them. To look on their angelic sleeping faces was pure joy and peace. Sometimes kids can be apprehensive about going to sleep and not waking up to the same parent. This happened all the time to us since I would leave for work before they were awake. The child doesn’t understand, and would need their father to explain, comfort and reassure. They don’t initially fully understand that the sleep is temporary and sometimes needed reassurance before closing their eyes.
Sometimes we need the same reassurance as adults when we lose a loved one. Death is not the end. We can listen to our Father and hear the comforting words of Christ. Here is a song I made that I hope expresses this hope

    A Fathers Lullaby:

I used to love putting my kids to bed. Then one day I had to move out. Can anyone imagine what it is like to leave your house knowing there is a possibility that you might not ever be able to enter again? I was sad to have to leave my marriage, because let's face it, life is about sharing. And as God said in Genesis, 'it is not good that man should be alone.' But what killed me was not being able to see my children. Leaving the house was like a numb feeling, sick in the stomach, not wanting to really accept the reality of it all. Like an out of body experience. Then as events progressed and it transpired that I was not allowed back in, the suffering intensified.

When I used to drive down the motorway on the way to my new home far away, I could actually see my house from it with the lights on in the evening. I would think of my boys in there with the tears streaming down my face. Never again would I put my son to bed. What suffering. It was Jesus and His Blessed Mother who saved me and gave me the will to survive and the grace to bear no grudge against my wife. I had not long ago lost my father and little did I know that there were many more loved ones to depart in the next few years. Now 10 years later I sit alone but I have received many blessings amidst much suffering. I have a relationship now with one of my sons and my daughter. I still hope and pray that the Holy Family can intercede for the complete healing and reunification of my family. And I can say, Blessed be God forever.

Goodness, this breaks my heart for you. I am so very sorry that you and your children had to suffer this terrible separation. Thanks be to God that what He has planned for us so far surpasses all the joys we could have had in this life.... your cup will runneth over.

  14. Praying for you and your family.
God only allows suffering to bring about a greater good.

Know that He is pursuing your loved ones. I have faced similar sufferings. Never give up hope. He can change the most hardened heart in an instant.

I was totally immersed in this sinful culture for decades. Serious sins everyday.

My mother prayed constantly for us.

God smacked me off my horse.

Daily Mass, quiet prayer and an unshakable faith now.

Parents and spouses need to know God is working powerfully.

    Jesus is among us.

Thank you for sharing this In Veritatum. I am so sorry this happened to you. And what a miracle of grace you were able to forgive your wife. God has truly guided you through this Calvary. I know your prayers are being heard for your family.

  19. I have written songs for 30 years.
It began by singing songs and telling stories, made up on the fly, to my children when I put them to bed.
I received a good Catholic education from old school Christian Brothers, focusing on writing.
I laugh because I was selected to participate in a young gifted writers program.
I was more interested in girls, sports and partying.
    I said no.
I cant take credit for the notes...
I insert the words, prompt the program to include certain instruments, styles of voices and type of music.

Notice all the "I"s at the beginning of my sentances?
    Vain glory!
I would have been given an F by Brother Chris for that!

All that being said, I am a lowly toilet scrubber in real life.

And your words are very kind.

Sometimes (mostly) the ideas for songs come in prayer...

They are Holy Spirit filled. You needn't apologize--they are true prayers. You are as Mother Teresa once said a little pencil in God's hand.
