And my understanding is that the best exorcist is holy, but they are hard to find. An exorcist should be a Bishop because they have the full powers of the orders. But somewhere along the line, they choose or decided not to exercise this function as Fr Amorth and other exorcists say and to delegate it to other priests. As for the rest about exorcists, I defer to experts like Fr Amorth, whose books I have read and recommend to understand the crisis in this part of the Church. I think that you've made your point and I've made mine. If the bishop has ordered the priest into silence, so be it, I'm sure he will obey. Letters published online and arguments on forums don't sway me one bit to judge these priests, because I see the bigger picture, which is obviously more involved than the information on the internet. I mean, I am in France, you are in the US (?) and we're supposed to judge a complex situation between priests and Bishops in Quebec and Poland? That would be presumptuous. Can we just agree to pray for all of them and offer them up to Our Lady. May those who are humble of heart and sincere in their desires to serve be forgiven if they have made errors and may Our Lady guide them.
I saw a Fr Amorth documentary where they interview Bishop Barron. I found it extremely disappointing to hear Bishop Barron say that he hears from so many people that need help but then also says at another point that he could never do what an exorcist does. I agree that the faithful are being let down big time in this area.
On the topic of the two priests being discussed it’s a big deal if they were performing exorcisms without their bishops approval. Even if the situation is complex it’s really not. We are called to obedience. If the bishop is not being truthful that’s on them. But if we don’t obey the bishop that’s on us.
It seems to me there a number of posts attacking bishops who are doing their duty by reining in those alleged priest-prophets who freelance messages and exorcisms. It is good bishops are doing their duty. It is bad they are being attacked for doing it.
I don't know what attacks you are referring to, but mine in this thread were specifically about highlighting the problem with the lack of exorcists in the Church, which is the responsibility of the Bishops, as experts like the Chief exorcist of Rome wrote about in several excellent books that every Christian should read.
Hello new member Praytherosary, I see this is your first post, welcome to the forum. I have never heard of living priests being "approved" - approved to say mass, hear confession? Did Padre Pio have "approved" status during his life or Louis Marie de Montford ? Even the great mystics were not "approved" during their lives that I am aware of. This thread is two pages long and you can easily find the answer to your question in a previous post.
