The difficulty seems to be when you get a large group of people together like a Bishops Conference, a meeting of Religious Superiors or even a Papal Conclave it is very easy for a small group of dedicated radical individuals to hi jack things. Argentina baffles me. With its resources it should have been one of the richest countries in the world. One time it was. Now look at it.
the style of this "discussion" is appalling. It only proves how much the holy father is right. So what, denouncing Vatican II and maybe advocating sedevacantism? And where it is connected to the posts I wrote, that you answer? I answer your post and not others, because at least you start some discussion on the Climate change. (that unfortunately I will not continue beyond this post). The data below do not include 2019 since it is not finished yet. https://www.climatecentral.org/gallery/graphics/the-10-hottest-global-years-on-record "To bring context to the global goal of limiting warming to 2°C, we compare the global temperatures to an earlier, pre-industrial 1880-1910 baseline. 2018’s global temperatures were 1.90°F (1.06°C) above that baseline — more than halfway there. This made 2018 the second-warmest year on record without an El Niño event, behind only 2017. (El Niño can enhance warming, but it can’t explain all of it). Only 2016 and 2015 were warmer years, and 2014 rounds out the top five. With the five warmest years on record happening during the past five years — and the 20 warmest occurring over the past 22 — a consistent warming trend couldn’t be clearer. Meanwhile, monthly averaged atmospheric CO2 concentrations have risen to 411 ppm at Mauna Loa Observatory, thanks in part to an estimated 2.7 percent increase in global CO2 emissions from fossil fuels. " 2018 fourth warmest year in continued warming trend, according to NASA, NOAA https://climate.nasa.gov/news/2841/...ntinued-warming-trend-according-to-nasa-noaa/ " Weather dynamics often affect regional temperatures, so not every region on Earth experienced similar amounts of warming. NOAA found the 2018 annual mean temperature for the contiguous 48 United States was the 14th warmest on record. Warming trends are strongest in the Arctic region, where 2018 saw the continued loss of sea ice. In addition, mass loss from the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets continued to contribute to sea level rise. Increasing temperatures can also contribute to longer fire seasons and some extreme weather events, according to Schmidt. “The impacts of long-term global warming are already being felt — in coastal flooding, heat waves, intense precipitation and ecosystem change,” said Schmidt. NASA’s temperature analyses incorporate surface temperature measurements from 6,300 weather stations, ship- and buoy-based observations of sea surface temperatures, and temperature measurements from Antarctic research stations". As I pointed out in previous posts, it is needed united efforts including those of USA. I do not intend to repeat time and again what I already wrote in length, if it falls on deaf ears. The US exceptionalism ends here, where the survival of ALL of us is at stake: both born and unborn btw. Americans are prone to error as much as anyone of us. Only they do not acknowledge it. I really hope their president will be different when it comes to the mere survival, 2 weeks from now. If not... The pope did what he could in the most balanced and delicate way,... So I think I run out of patience and time. Thanks so much for your concern!
Yes, and I'm sure that Cardinal Martini et al were aware of that. That German Synodal model, were it to spread throughout the Church, would fit perfectly with what everyone suspects is meant by the Fatima message "in Portugal the Dogma of the Faith will always be preserved". But Jesus promised not to abandon us. This is where we need to trust in Jesus more than ever. That doesn't mean burying our heads in the sand. I don't know much about Argentina. I thought they were doing ok. Evidently not, although not as bad as Venezuela. It's so sad to read about the poverty there. God help them. We all really should thank God for our blessings and do more to help the poor beyond our borders. I wonder sometimes how many of us will be condemned for sins of omission. All very well pointing at the greed of the 1%, but that doesn't give us a free pass.
The homosexual/transexual agendas are all deriving from the same sources as the global warming tyranny. Expect soon a general attack on heterosexuals and 'breeders'. It's all supposed to be to reduce population and save the planet, but beneath this disguise is a true intention of upturning the Natural Law. It is the introduction of a new, supposedly better creation and represents a Pride that is ultimately, as you point out, demonic. Note that it is becoming increasingly difficult to access one's money. Go into a bank and there's nobody to serve you; you almost have to go on-line; eventually, one will need a brain implant to access your account. As for the planet, there's more Pride involved in the illusion that mankind has such an impact on its well-being. The planet is well capable of looking after itself. God has thoughtfully placed innumerable checks and balances within His ecosystem. The most obvious are famine, pestilence and war. Awful and undesirable though these events are, they are preferable to the solutions being offered by our atheistic elites. Personally, I'll take my chances with starvation before I allow anyone stick an object in my brain; I'll take my chances with disease before I take a vaccine composed of tissue from a murdered baby. For now, I'm going to eat as much steak as I can before my 'betters' stop me, which I fully expect they will do if I live another decade or so. There is an irony in that long-term demographic projections suggest that we are soon about to reach peak population which will be followed by a precipitous fall. For example, most of the Islamic world, although not that portion living under social-welfare in the West, has seen a continual decline in its reproductive rates in recent decades. Iran is facing huge demographic difficulty. The one area that will continue to grow massively is in Christian sub-Sahara: perhaps this is what the devil is targetting with his recent elitist puppetry?
Yes , climate changes. Climate has always changed. It is what is causing exactly current climate shift that is subject for debate. I am old enough for instance to recall the appalling winter of 62/63.
I ask you to withdraw your false accusation (I assume it since you directly quoted my post) that I denounced Vatican II. Of course you conveniently make a personal attack upon me and then declare you will withdraw, a convenient cop-out. Firstly, I did not denounce Vatican II, I accused our pope of being in breach of it. Secondly, it is not sedevacantism to criticise a pope. Pope Francis is, in fact, being placed on too high a pedestal by some of his followers. I refer you to Father Hunwicke's post, over in his blog, from yesterday, referencing an article on LifesiteNews, which quoted a Bergoglian who stated 'the Magisterium of the Pope (who) stands above the word of God, or as a source of revelation, right next to it'. Take note that most of your post is arguing scientism rather than theology. That is a comment in itself about where we have been led. God bless you.
I’m bound as a Catholic to reverence the papacy under Christian Piety, a virtue I cherish in all aspects of life, not just towards the clergy, and, it’s absence of this virtue that is the silent influencer of a large part of the chaos of our western culture today. However, my attitude towards piety doesn’t not preclude me from basic reason and private opinion. As I’ve posted before, I tossed this forum in the bin because of what some were saying about the current papacy. I just couldn’t accept it. As I found out over time, it was those forum members that were the canary in the mine, and were about two years ahead of the curve from where I stood at that time - those forum members who spoke up early had a road to Damascus realization, whereas mine was more like a road to Emmaus realization; much slower. I’ll not say I’ve allowed my thinking to be influenced by Taylor Marshall and Tim Gordon, as wonderful as they are (I’m a huge fan of Taylor since he started podcasting 6 years ago and rarely miss a show), but they confirmed what I was thinking, as did Michael Voris, Michael Matt, Nick Donnelly, Anthony Stine, not to mention MOG. To say ‘we’ve a problem with Pope Francis’ is only stating half the problem; falling Church attendance, disappearance of public devotions, evaporation of private devotions etc were here long before our current Pope was elected. The old saying ‘you get the leaders you deserve’ is very true. The problem isn’t just the Pope, though I’m horrified as a conservative Catholic at what he’s doing. The problem is IN the Church. Something is really seriously wrong IN the Church for a very long time. I don’t know what it is, time will tell. Perhaps its Vat II? Perhaps it’s the implementation of Vat II. Perhaps not. I just don’t know. But the problem is a lot lot deeper that Francis. Over the last few years, I’ve been learning all my prayers in Latin. I’ve been searching for pre Vat II prayer books. The funny thing was I couldn’t understand why I was suddenly so interested in pre Vat II stuff. Then out of the blue one day, my parents texted me a picture of themselves at a latin mass in Kilkenny (about 5 years ago), my mother even wearing a veil. They regularly attend now, every week. Now T and T advocating the trad Mass and opening each show with the Latin prayers. It’s wonderful. Why now? Why are many of us interested in Latin Catholicism now? Simultaneously? My point of posting is not to despair over the current crisis. No please don’t! Thank God for it. This is happening for a reason. Look at Francis’ attitude against traditional Catholics and the remarks he has said about them one the one hand, and the wonderful Catholic Piety shown by devoted ‘rigid’ Catholics on the other, and try to see a higher power at work here - something is being shown to us by this, I’m trying to understand and comprehend it, perhaps I never will, but all of this is much much greater than the sum of its uncomfortable parts. Something is being revealed, exposed.
You have some cheek. And just in case you missed it, here's the type of American Pope Francis aligns himself with when he badmouths faithful American Catholics: https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/...s-respond-to-bernie-sanders-on-abortion-79110 That was in the run up to the US Presidential election which Donald Trump won. And in case you're in any doubt about Pope Francis and his regime in the Vatican being in lockstep with eugenicists and population controllers, Sanders was a guest in Sta. Marta (that humble abode of Pope Francis). According to the New York Times, referring to Sanders: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/17/us/politics/bernie-sanders-pope-francis-vatican.html "He also had two things going for him: his host, Bishop Marcelo Sánchez Sorondo, an Argentine who is the chancellor of the academy and happens to be close to Francis, and his hotel room, also close to the pope. Mr. Sanders was to stay in a second-floor room at Casa Santa Marta, the Vatican guesthouse where Francis keeps his residence." And all the gang were there. More from the NYT: Around 5:30 p.m. Friday, the conference’s business ended and Mr. Sanders made an appointment for dinner at the Casa Santa Marta with his foreign policy adviser, Jeffrey D. Sachs, the economist and a fellow conference participant. Mr. Sanders and his wife, Jane, sat with Mr. Sachs and his wife, Sonia, for a soup and buffet dinner, where they were joined by Bishop Sánchez Sorondo and Cardinal Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga of Honduras, the pope’s right-hand man and one of the Vatican’s top power players. “It was a wide-ranging conversation,” Mr. Sachs said. “It was about issues of the church and its history, about Honduras and foreign policy.” Hypocrites. Every last one of them. It's as well St. Peter is in Heaven. Otherwise his relics would be spinning in his grave. Nobody on this thread has denied that Francis is the Pope. That doesn't make him a saint. Right now, the Borgias would be better candidates for sainthood.
Yes there seem to be strange currents in the Church. It reminds me of what Pope Paul v1 once said, 'The Smoke of Satan has entered the Church'. But on the other hand there appears to be a revival, of the Church finding itself amongst the priests, especially the younger priests. As indeed Our Lady promised. For instance this remarkable recent by Fr Mark. It's as if someone were switching the Lights back on again.
You know everything happens for a reason with God. Perhaps the failings of this present Pontificate came to help us for the need to think about things and to change. To wake us up. To dig deeper inside.
It's not "strange currents" Padraig. It's a whole lot more serious than "strange". All those "experts" invited to the Vatican in the run-up to Laudate Si are staunch opponents of Church teaching on the right to life from conception to natural death. Population reduction is the ultimate goal of the climate alarmists. The Church of Satan is out in the open in the US, holding its Satanic masses. Planned Parenthood, staunchly supported by the Pope's friends in the US, dismembers innocent pre-born infants and sells their body parts. The Holy Spirit, and not Jeffrey Sachs or Paul Ehrlich, is the Lord of life. Abortion is an intrinsic evil. The sacrifice to Moloch: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moloch We can recycle, shiver in winter, eat grass and walk until our feet wear out but it will never be enough. These people say the earth is doomed unless there are negative CO2 emissions by 2060 but there are exemptions for China and poorer countries like India. What happens as Africa develops and needs further exemptions to catch up? Will governments there be told to reduce the population in exchange for exemptions? Here's what the Catechism says about the final deception: "Before Christ's second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the "mystery of iniquity" in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh." They have turned climate science into a religion. The Pope is in league with this! The Vicar of Christ! The time for beating around the bush has passed. We have to face up to the truth no matter who is travelling alongside the death cultists. Ezdras claims that only in America are labels like Conservative and Liberal used. We might not put the same names on them but Europe is awash with labels. It's also a continent with a birth rate below replacement levels. The planet will be finished when God says so. Jeffrey Sachs is not God. He's Bernie Sanders' foreign policy adviser. I don't care whether his graphs and charts are right or wrong. I don't trust him because I don't trust anyone who supports abortion.
Jesus taught us to read the Sings of the Times. There can be no doubt that there is a specific agenda here and a very, very evil one indeed. I saw a message recently from Our Lady at Medugorje which refers to this need to read the Signs of the Times. She said that those who prayed would have the Holy Spirit would have the grace to read the Signs of the Times and everyone else would be blind. I must see if I can find it. http://motheofgod.com/threads/medjugorje-the-time-of-grace-the-signs-of-the-times.1510/
I have always said we should fear utopianists who know what's best for you. Scariest villains of all.
Thd book of Revelation tells us that God permits those who choose evil to undergo a great delusion "lest they turn to the truth and be saved." To me this always seemed harsh. If you are under a delusion sent by God then how can you be held accountable for not seeing the truth. But these days have taught me much about the grace of discernment and free will choice to be deluded. I see it all around me. People who are shown the truth and refuse it. Outright refuse. because their vice or their ideology or their narcissism is more dear to them than Truth. Dante speaks in the Inferno of those who loved their sin more than they feared its consequences. We must pray and offer everything we can for souls who have been blinded. Our Lady told us at Fatima that souls go to Hell because there is no one to pray for them. I keep thinking but for the grace of God I could have been one of them.
"This appropriation is exactly what this self-proclaimed Vatican II pope is engaging in." That sentence made me off balance. On second reading, I understand that actually you defend Vatican II and accuse pope Francis as not being too much pro vatican II. And because everyone knows that pope Francis is pro vatican II and his opponents are against Vatican II, I lost your line of logic at that point...sorry. Also because of my Engtlish. I do not accept the accusations against pope Francis though. Neither that of scinetism or so. The pope MUST react to what happens, because he is the father of catholics and also non catholics, the vicar of Jesus Christ. He is responsible. I am not theologian. While I have a degree in Earth science. Excuse me, but I am not supposed to talk about canon law. I never ever attacked you personally. Instead, I put my Climate reasoning in the answer to you, (sure I cannot write ten answers today) because you benevolent to say something about the Climate, although I do not agree with it. I will add to the discussion, (that turned a little better after my intervention), that IF the Sun is responsible, and that is a Big IF that still is not proven,...then we need asap the antigravity devices that power the US secret flying machines like TR3B, the UK, the Russian.... Because we can escape only in that way. If this is the scenario. I can say more, but actually I already said more in other threads, without much success. While saying that as a remote possibility, I stand behind the proven facts of never seen before human intervention in the climate processes, that lead to dramatic exacerbation of extremities (not just super heating, but also hurricanes and the like) with consequences far beyond the capability of the current level of our development to provide for the rescue of 7 bln people. We MUST STOP our input on the Climate change, regardless of whether there is another input for its change or not. Because we cannot guarantee the life of the 7 bln people otherwise. And from Christian perspective it turns to a wide scale genocide, not just individual killing of innocents. There are concrete responsible ones, starting from the most advanced countries. As the famous Swedish girl nailed it, how could we expect Angola..etc..to change their climate policies if we the most developed nations do nothing? Especially responsible is the leader of the world power N1 that appears to be the world polluter N1. And maybe in that regard, at least from my point of view, the pope singled out the american catholics, and not let say the catholics in Austria or Spain. Because the american catholics share the responsibility of the decisions taken in their country. And if they fanatically shut themselves from the reality, their voice will add to the destruction of the planet, as well as to the killing of millions of innocent people. Yes it is that bad, projected over several years, projected over regions that you may have never visited or known. America is responsible at N1 position it holds. And the Pope literally is obliged by Jesus to say and do, even more than that. To accuse him for that, is just absurd. At the end of the day, you guys will be sorry you didn't spend enough time to research on these things, including the hypothetical scenarios I mentioned, and the new scientific achievements available not in textbooks but on sites like arxiv.org. Even if you disagree with my views and conclusions. Yes I know many of you count this is Armageddon, and this pope is the false prophet. But you are wrong. And if we are looking for the big villain, then you mess the names and the roles, taking the good guy for the bad and vice versus. We are not in the end times for a number of reasons anyway. But still we may see who is the good and who is the bad one in the coming UN summit on September 23. Trump may turn to be the big benefactor of humanity after all. I am not against the person but against the policies pursued so far. EU has decided already, and it certainly will do something more than putting more solar panels on high ways. I don't know how Putin and the rest will act, who in principle agree, but in practice await the big one to do it first. Only this time the time of waiting and empty talking has finished. We are literally burning everyday during the Summer.
I don't think it's Vatican II. From what I can see, Vatican II was never implemented. From what I can see, wicked opportunists implemented something completely different, pretending it was Vatican II. The real Council recommended modest introduction of the vernacular in certain small areas of the Mass (something Archbishop Fulton Sheen was quite comfortable with, to give one example) and certainly did not call for the priest to face the faithful like a rock star, nor for communion in the hand, nor for the iconoclastic destruction of churches. Instead, a radical group performed a coup d'etat. Sadly, a huge number in the Church, seemingly drunk on the spirit of the times, were very eager to go along with all this. The Church was utterly changed almost overnight, a Church that previously thought in terms of centuries. Now, the radicals are attributing near-divine powers to their pope, some seemingly placing him as an equal to God Himself-the Pope hasn't personally made any of these claims, but he has made no effort to deny them. Yet Pope Francis has no problem finding time to condescendingly insult Cardinal Gerhard Muller: calling him well-intentioned, but child-like, the other day (he perhaps doesn't realise that Christ Himself called upon us to be like little children). [I think I can speak for everybody on here that we were all very nervous, reluctant canaries. We found it very much against the grain to criticise a pope so severely. Many of us tried hard to see the positives, but there seem progressively less and less of these]. [I can't go without commenting on Ezdras' temperature figures. There are other statistics that completely contradict them. Both sets of figures can't be right. But the big money donations are with the climate panickers. I recently read an interview with a Jewish professor of meteorology who works in Jerusalem. His research runs counter to the global warmists. He described the difficulty in attracting funding for his research. He said it was pointless applying to any national government or state university-once they got wind that one was not on board the global warming train, that was the end of the conversation. He got his limited funding from various independent political and scientific institutions; and funnily enough from Carlsberg Corporation. I was so impressed with their willingness to not follow the herd that I intend to drink Carlsberg from now on!]
I am sorry if I misinterpreted you. I thought you were labelling me a sedevacantist. I certainly am not. I consider Pope Francis a perfectly valid pope, which makes the problem all the greater. If you say that Pope Francis must react to the so-called 'climate emergency', then you are breaching the teaching of Vatican II. He can do so as a private citizen, but he has no authority to throw his weight in as the Pope of Rome. I would also ask you why you have so much faith in the environmental movement? This modern environmental movement is nothing like the old conservationist movement. They do not believe in conserving anything-they will go to any length to achieve their aims; which ultimately are those of the Club of Rome-the reduction of the human population to about 250,000,000 or 500,000,000 at most. Their methodology includes abortion, euthanasia, contraception, sterilisation and the promotion of barren sexual lifestyles. They have no problems exploiting a young child with Aspergers (a condition notable for perceptions of unfounded anxiety) to emotionally manipulate their agenda. The same people would simultaneously enthusiastically encourage the abortion of Asbergers children. As for the end times, only the Father knows these. I don't know when they are, neither, as you say, do you. I don't consider Pope Francis a 'false prophet', but I do suspect he might be a wicked pope (hardly a novelty). However, the Armageddonists are the ones roaring at us about the 'destruction of the planet'. As Dolours mentioned, they are all heirs of Paul Ehrlich, who has been crying that the end is nigh for half a century. Forty years ago, it was an imminent Ice Age. Now, it's a fiery furnace. Whatever is the latest Armageddon doesn't matter, what both scares have in common is a nihilistic hatred of the human species and an enormous appetite to murder or prevent the coming into being of millions, even billions, of innocent people. Additionally, the same climate panickers want to abolish what they call 'factory farming'-the result of this would inevitably be the starvation to death of billions, the result, I would suggest that they would actually be delighted with. Pope Francis has chosen to put his faith in these people (as have you; we are meant to accept it is settled science, as if there ever could be such a thing-Newton was for centuries, until Einstein blew him away), not apparently so much in God, Who has absolutely forbidden such methodology.
