Sometimes, due to my own failures, I can lose my way and need reminders like this. I particularly relate to #6. 1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life. 2. Do you know why a car's WINDSHIELD is so large & the ear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on. 3. Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write. 4. All things in life are temporary. If going well enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don’t worry, they can't last long either. 5. Old friends are like gold! New friends are diamonds! If you get a diamond, don't forget the gold! Because to hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold! 6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end! 7. When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities. 8. A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision." 9. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you. 10. WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES; it takes away today’s PEACE.
This reminds of a story which I believe I shared here many moons ago. I have a Native American friend by the name of Michael Terrance. He and his family were on vacation once when their car was broken into and virtually everything taken. A cop came on the scene and marveled at the fact that Mike was smiling and joking around. "How can you be content in such a situation?", the policeman asked. My friend Mike replied, "The person already robbed me once. If I allow my peace to be destroyed, he would rob me twice." Even now, I can picture this wonderful Catholic man smiling as he said it. Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
I love these - I am printing them off to give to others...maybe I will take them to the SFO meeting tomorrow!
I think number 7 speaks to me. I have often found that I don't understand why there seems to be so many times when God leaves me to my own devices but I carry on regardless, praying that He will step in. But then out of the blue, one day everything starts to happen and God is in control of the lot, and I watch in amazement, as something I've been praying for, seems to take on a momentum of its own and things fall into place in ways I didn't imagine they ever could.
