Things are getting very, very bad, very, very quickly. Much more quickly than I ever thought possible. We all need to stay close to the Lord: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/oct/20/idaho-citys-ordinance-tells-pastors-to-marry-gays-/
Its coming faster for sure... US supreme court to take up civial unions this week I believe and a ruleing in June. The UN in the last 2 years has told the Vatican it needs to change canon law... I posted the link somewhere on MOG Im sure Heavenly hosts are gearing up for the DAY!
It's so horrible! There is no freedom of conscience at all here in America anymore. They have turned our Constitution into the exact opposite of what it is. Freedom of Religion has been turned into Freedom FROM Religion. All huge lies and shoved down our throats until we accept. Hilary Clinton who is running for president of the USA has been speaking out saying that all religions MUST change what they believe about abortion and gays or our country will never move "forward". I think we must remember that society has ALWAYS hated God and the commandments, and Christians have always been thrown to the lions so it is nothing we shouldn't expect but boy is it bitter when it comes...
That's a very good idea, Padraig. (Note to self) Even the Apostles were not free of pervious temptation. As Jesus, told them to pray; should temptation overcome them.
As Mother Angelica says, The eigth gift of the Holy Spirit is Boldnes ! lol... shes a rip your in my prayers brother and ALL MOG ! pray for me to : )
I am still trying to get my head round why on earth same sex couples can imagine or even try to comprehend what they are doing is right and just in the presence of Jesus,,but then I read the script below from a possible suggested episcopal wedding ceremony.. All Christians are called to bear witness to the good news of God’s love and grace in Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. We are empowered for such witness by our covenantal relationship with God. Baptism initiates us into that covenant, making us Christ’s own forever and members of Christ’s Body, the Church. The Eucharist sustains us in that covenantal life and strengthens us to be Christ’s witnesses in the world. Our covenantal life with God is expressed in relationships of commitment and faithfulness, including those of same-sex couples. It is the Church’s joy to celebrate these relationships as signs of God’s love, to pray for God’s grace to support couples in their life together, and to join with these couples in our shared witness to the gospel in the world. What absolute utter garbage My only opinion is I have great belief in what is true.. what the Gospel teaches me.. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. So go ahead bucket head huff and puff all you like our church is made of stone !!!!! and we all know how that story ended View attachment 2873
Appears that the line in the sand is being drawn by Christian leaders in the US, including a Catholic deacon saying they will not abide by the SCOTUS decision if it allows SSM. They appear ready to carry out acts of civil disobedience and I'm sure are ready to pay the price both personally and financially. God bless and protect them. The rest of us "in the pew" Catholics need to get ready to support them as well. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2015...threaten-civil-disobedience-if-supreme-court/
Mike, I read that and what jumped out to me is why do we have protestant preachers signing off on that, and only 1 Catholic deacon. Not one bishop, cardinal, etc. You know they went to the USCCB to get them to join and were rebuffed
Looks like this may have just changed since the USCCB site appears to indicate they have signed onto the letter. http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-act...y/marriage/promotion-and-defense-of-marriage/
Thank God! they didn't sign that letter that the Deacon wrote but signed a different one and also filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court in defense of marriage between a man and a woman
The Irish Catholic Church has already made plans to with draw from the state aspects of marriage. In its submission to the Constitutional Convention in 2013, the Irish Catholic bishops warned that the church could no longer perform the civil aspects of weddings if marriage is extended to same-sex couples. http://www.rte.ie/news/2015/0414/693972-same-sex-marriage/
Heidi, no worry, anyone can now get a license to marry in the US from the internet. A guy at our church got one and has been doing so. Apparently, no problem with our priest, as one of the persons he married was a high profile recently divorced Hispanic Catholic man very active in our church. To make it more bizarre, our priest and two other priest were present, as well as our parish council member and trustee.
This is a really interesting aspect of the issue in the US and Ireland. If the Church no longer has authority on civil marriages and for those people who only get married by the Church, what is their status and that of any children they have? I can tell you in my community here in upstate NY, there is a large Hasidic community who is only married by the Rabbi and not the state. I understand that in the eyes of the state, this has created a lot of "single mothers" eligible fir welfare and child support. I wonder if the same will now happen?
My understanding is that in Ireland it is not a case of the Church no longer having the authority to carry out civil marriages, rather it is a case of the Church refusing to continue carrying out the civil aspects of the marriage because Church and State will now have radically different definitions of what marriage is. So couples will now have to make arrangements for the civil aspects of their marriage separately, as is the case in many other countries. It seems odd to me that a couple would opt only for the religious ceremony and not also fulfil their civil obligations for marriage. That is, if the referendum is passed, of course. The way it's looking it will be nothing short of a miracle if the referendum doesn't pass.
I believe this will be same situation in US. But strange as it sounds I'm not so sure everyone will opt for civil marriage. While not an expert, in the US, there is the so called "marriage penalty"under our tax codes that could now be avoided plus as indicated above, alone akresdy take advantage of he system under welfare programs. I'm not saying this is morally the right thing to do, but, it does appear to be the proverbial law of unintended consequences at play.
