I am going to just put this out there because if people are going to challenge each other in debate, I think it is good. But copy-posting webpages and expecting members to refute IMO is rude. I could go and find thousands of pro Medjugorje pages and start copy pasting them too, and then it turns into absurdity. If you want to quote, or to paste a link it should support your argument. It shouldn't be the vast bulk of it, and it takes away from the authenticity of discussion. Primarily those who believe already do so and posting swaths of copy-paste text wont do anything but send this thread into obscurity as people wont read or engage with it. Those who don't believe already don't and wont read huge amounts of pro copy-paste either. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a forum rule in regards to this.
I will just reply to number 1 on abortion because blanket statements are a pet hate of mine. March 3, 1990 To Marijana "Dear children, this evening I call you in a special way to pray for all unborn children. Pray especially for the mothers who consciously kill their children. Dear children, I am sad because many children are being killed. I definitely (with time), could refute many other of those statements. But I'd rather spend time praying my rosary. And it's probable that Brian just wants to highlight the problems of Medjugorje. I respect that because I respect Brian. No one has to believe in any private revelation.
This is not the thread to “refute” anything. That has been done in voluminous detail elsewhere. This thread is only for a respectful alternative analysis than what is usually presented. On the contrary, it is an act of charity to correct what one perceives as error. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with copying and pasting.
Thanks garabandal. It is not easy to take an unpopular position such as this but I felt compelled in conscience to do so.
I highly doubt it, especially since Medjugorje has only grown since it started. I will stay out of your echo chamber. Enjoy
Page up and read the posts on this thread. It already has. The constant effort to censor any revelations regarding the reality of this phenomenon by its ardent proponents, like yours above, often accompanied by uncharitable behavior, is another sign of its Fruits. Thank you for abiding by the guidelines of this thread.
It is simple Brian, you are a man of integrity and much respected on this forum. Your opinion carries gravitas. You are also supported by E Michael Jones who also holds your position on Medjugorje. I am a massive fan of his so that's two people I respect enormously who hold contrary views to myself. And both are much smarter than me lol.
I have to agree Bobby. Add to that Fr John Hardin the eminent theologian and very holy priest, Malachi Martin who called so many things right already and Fr Ripperger and others. But as I said in another post Our Lady can work through false or manipulated seers and or priests. If people come to her there with a sincere heart she pours out graces as she would at any pilgrimage sight. She has outsmarted the devil yet again.
Very interesting. I'm glad my faith doesnt depend on these apparitions. I went there in 1988 and the atmosphere in the Church and it's environs was reverent and prayerful. Lots of chances for confession. At that time Fr Philip Pavich from Chicago was there to help because he was Croation American. Later he went back to the states declaring he had come to the conclusion the whole thing was false. That was a shock. Those who believe in it receive graces even conversions. Our Lady is not limited in any way. To paraphrase the psalm " a humble and contrite heart the Mother of God does not despise."
I agree, so many people have received graces there. Our Lady can work anywhere she pleases to in my opinion, as long as we have faith in her.
I am not denying graces received by those who have visited. God takes into account our intentions, like a mother who accepts daisies as if they are roses from their young child, so God accept those pure intentions of those truly seeking Him. Thank you BrianK for sharing all that, I had NO idea. Someone above mentioned that all apparitions have difficulty taking off and that is true, I think of the big ones like Fatima and Lourdes, they had the silence of the church as it deliberated what to make of what was happening meanwhile it was the State that provided earthly resistance making the lives of the seers miserable. Think of the poor young children arrested in another city away from their parents! Bernadette forced to be interrogated and threatened for hours. Obviously history doesn't have to repeat itself but it can help in making a rational decision. I saw this video years back and it was more than enough proof for me. Forgive me if it has been shared already.
The vast majority of people don’t. So they’re shocked when they see it for the first time. It’s out there but the pro Medjugorge message drowns out any rational and proper examination of it. And supporters often attempt to censor and silence it.
My friends, let us never forget that the owner of this forum is himself a faithful of Medjugorje, so we must respect and pay homage to him, I myself have a blog for years, I also know how difficult it is to manage different opinions every day and to keep one's Christian charity, we must help each other but always with respect, not easy always and I know it as well so allow me this reminder, thank you.
Thank you Aviso. Yes, I am well aware of padraig’s support for Medjugorje. It is his forum and I only post here at his good pleasure. We disagree on some things (he has banned me from the forum more times than any other currently active forum member after all) but strongly agree on the most important things. If he requests this thread to be closed or deleted it will be.
You are doing a great job Brian if he ban You again then you are welcome at Garabandal News any time, we know each other for years and we share the same cross, I can confirm to you that the Garabandal warning is on the way probably around the 100 years of Tuy as they said to me in Fatima and in Garabandal, enjoy !
As someone who has never really been involved with Medjugorje and knows very little about it, I am very happy about the information provided. Also about the information provided by Pax Prima in the other thread. Helps and simplifies forming an opinion. Just wanted to mention that.
Marco Corvaglia has been investigating for years. He's not in favour, and has a website which is very easy to navigate. I recommend looking at it if you're undecided. It's not polemical, and of course it's his opinion, but he does list some facts that make me uneasy. I began as a fervent believer but over the years have grown sceptical. I have learned to separate the 'visionaries' from the place where people gather to hear Mass, confess, etc. https://www.marcocorvaglia.com/en/medjugorje My 2 cents on the cut and paste which began this thread. I found it very helpful as it put a lot of information in one place. Generally I don't read very long posts that are pasted from other sources, but I think here they are helpful.
