Not to brag... but I will anyway...spectacular. Had to work till 730 pm Christmas eve...went to a beautiful vigil Mass...short yet sweet. Opened presents with family in morning...off to in laws for big ole breakfast...opened more presents... then off to sisters farm for prime rib roast and spaghetti and meatballs and all the trimmings then I spent the evening driving the young ones around on a 4 wheeler. Such a joy and delight. Felt lighthearted and fancy free at the end of day. Off to work in the morning.

Lovely Christmas here, my sister was here with her husband and son, they live in Holland. Although I am a year older we were in school together the whole way through and in College together, most people think we are twins. Just wish they would come to mass with us. They live such a soulless life without Religion and worship the new earth church instead of the one true church. Still great to get them home. I'm sure God has a plan for them. Happy Christmas again all.

So glad they were with you for Christmas Indy. I know how bittersweet it is when they are oblivious to the most necessary thing. But it is part of our suffering I guess to see loved ones living in that soulless dimension.

Christmas was beautiful and I am very thankful but as much as I try to not get into any touchy conversations they leak in. I try very hard to change the subject when this happens; well, I do like to have my opportunity to voice my opinion when someone else has voiced theirs. But I think that we did pretty well, staying away from touchy subjects for the most part but I took the opportunity to email my older son after he left on Thursday night. I wanted to share the youtube channel PragerU with him and a specific video. When I did, I came across the following video that I think is nicely done.

I do understand Dennis Prager's point about the commercialization of Christmas but I think that if he was an orthodox Catholic he would have answered this question a bit differently.

I don't watch a lot of television with commercials but a few days ago my husband wanted to watch a Christmas movie that I believe was on FXM and I couldn't help but take note of all of the so called Christmas commercials which don't actually use the word Christmas at all. They have Christmas trees in them, Christmas lights, and Christmas presents; JC Penney even had a little girl setting up what looked like a nativity along side the tree but they don't mention the word Christmas. I think out of a dozen or so commercials maybe 2 actually said Christmas but it was more of an afterthought in reference to ordering by a certain date to arrive on time, etc. I actually took notes but I don't want to pull them out and bore you now. I also noticed that Starbucks which I really do not like at all used the phrase Merry Coffee, really??? I also saw the phrase "Merry Giftmas" somewhere but I can't remember where exactly. I looked this up on the internet and it turns out that this has been a phrase for a few years now, ugh!!! So, yes I see Prager's point but if he were a Christian I hope that he might feel a little bit differently, that he might be in favor of Christmas being centered around Christ but I am happy that we can still celebrate this holiday in the USA and that it is a National Holiday!!! Thank you God.

It’s a pagan, fallen world for sure. But God is with us. “If Christ be with us, who
    can be against us?”
I think we are each doing well with our families. We definitely care and try hard.

Thank you, Carol, for posting that Dennis Prager video. I watch very little TV. Despite it being a Google resource, I really like youtube mainly because it means that TV producers, directors and controllers no longer decide for us what content is worth viewing.

I'm especially grateful to you for linking that video because I don't recall coming across Dennis Prager in the past and his discussion with Jordan Peterson played automatically after that video about Christmas. It's a fascinating interview. What struck me most about it is that if Jordan Peterson keeps on searching for the whole truth he would, with the help of a good apologist and the Holy Spirit, make a very good Catholic. Off topic, but it's such an interesting discussion, I can't help but share it. Here it is:

Dolours, You're very welcome and thank you for posting this. I still have to watch it and I definitely will.

The funny thing is my older son shared a Jordan Peterson youtube video with me which prompted me to look for something on Prager U for him to watch and that's how I found the above video which I posted. How's that for a coincidence? I'm very thankful that my son appears to like Jordan Peterson.

PS - I wanted my son to watch the video that Prager did about a year ago explaining the difference between the Left and Liberals. I posted that on the forum yesterday also.

Wow!!! I am impressed. Was that last one an Encore azalea? We have one exactly like it in bloom in our yard right now, in Maryland. You must live in a warmer area. There are no roses left here, just the azalea. Your flowers are wonderful. Thank you!

Yes, Azalia. This are is noted for the azalias . . .southern Alabama near the Gulf Coast. I noticed the trees that just lost their leaves a month ago are already budding out. We have only been down here a year and a half, from the upper peninsula of Michigan where they have feet of snow on the ground right now. So the flowers this time of year are a delight . . .
