I would think it depends if the statue is primarily for personal devotions or as a witness to those who may pass by. O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
John, The above portion in red is taken from the 10th Station of St. Alphonsus Liguori's Stations of the Cross, one of those beautiful sung chants at the end of each Station. Part of the priestly portion of that Station reflects on the following: Consider how Jesus was violently stripped of His clothes by His executioners. The inner garments adhered to His lacerated flesh and the soldiers tore them off so roughly that the skin came with them. Have pity for your savior so cruelly treated and tell him: People: My innocent Jesus, by the torment you suffered in being stripped of your garments, help me to strip myself of all attachments to the things of earth that I place all my love in You who are so worthy of my love. I love you, O Jesus, with all my heart; I am sorry for ever having offended You. Never let me offend You again. Grant that I may love You always and then do with me as You will. In these dastardly days, when so much is being stripped from our lives by 21st century executioners, may you realize that your "redressing" of Jesus can be a great act of love and a reminder for us all: Hebrews 13:12 So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13 Therefore let us go forth to him outside the camp and bear the abuse he endured.
Beautiful I have soo much to learn but as my Irish mum would say "haven't the time to bless meself" It's quotes and messages like that inspire for sure those special words "In my heart each wound renew" Thank you brother Terry
