I'd say head up the mountain earlier or else stay at the Blue Cross which is at the base. I'd be heading at 7.30pm Buy one if those little stools and a walking stick. I got a plain wooden stick for 2 euros. The stick will help you big time on the decent.
The crowds will keep coming especially for the anniversary. I was there in the mid/late 80's and 700 coaches came from Italy, that was along with the place already being packed with locals. No parking places then and very little accommodation.
I agree maryrose. I think going up at 9 would be too late. I know it makes for a long day, but I would go up at 7pm ish. If you have a little backpack bring water, fruit, nuts, etc. Up by the Cross you can even find a bit of shade near the trees there. That would put you a bit of distance from statue and visionaries but maybe a bit removed from crowd? If you don't mind the crowds, then getting there earlier would get you closer to visionaries. Yes, I believe tonight is last night of novena. I wonder if Our Lady will have a more detailed message tonight or perhaps not until tomorrow's 25th of the month message. I also believe Ivan's prayer group typically meets at 1opm on Mondays... maybe that will also happen there tonight? So much is happening over there right now! It all seems to be moving very rapidly. What a blessing to be there Padraig!
And less we forget with all the excitement on apparitions, today is the feast day of the birth of St. John the Baptist. The first herald of Christ! The child who leapt in Elizabeth’s womb upon hearing the voice of Oyr Lady as she carried Jesus in her womb! Jesus said no greater man was born of a woman than John. Peace.
That was the same for us. 1988. Very different. I remember it was so hot ( there for the anniversary) and climbing that mountain. There was no hot water where we were staying. But excellent food.
Thank you all for the kind advice!! I got down to the Adoration Chapel, which, thank God , had air conditioning. It did not work so well; I suspect someone had thought it a good idea to open windows. A packed little Chapel, you could nearly see the Flames coming down on their heads as at Pentecost. After that I went to a Confession with a very sincere young priest. After, thinking he was American I said , 'God bless America and Donald Trump!' He then told me he was Canadian. We both agreed Trudeau was not top of our like list. He told me Our Lady had told one of the visionaries that Trudeau had, 'Not yet known the love of God'0 I then repeated to him one of Mother Teresa's sayings, 'Some people are sent into your life as Lights; some as lessons'0 We both laughed hard. He gave me Chapter 13 of Corinthians as a penance.p I must read it now before I forget.
Apparently when Ladyy appeared last night there was 5000 people. Also there were two visionaries, not one. Ivan was there too with Marija in 2004. At that apparition the war here in the Balkans started. They say the visionaries have the same heavy feeling Ng as they had back then, that Our Lady has something very serious to tell them. I believe the anniversary apparition is tomorrow night. I should already have left but got into a very interesting conversation with a Dubln man about his conversion. He was a heroin addict and drunk and has been off drugs ten years now. Astonishing. Well must get ready to go!! AVE Maria!!
This seems like a dream. I can't believe I'm really going up there! I will have time to repeat all your prayer requests one by one to Our Lady so I better get up there, bye!!!
Wonderful Padraig! Cannot wait to hear your first hand reports! And yes, there is something very serious going on here. I know from the Caritas sight that they are saying Marija is in almost constant prayer. She goes up the mountain in the morning to pray the rosaries and then again in the evenings. And in between is praying going up and down! So, yes, I would say that is a sign. Peace.
I just started watching on Marytv and will be starting the 9th day of novena and rosary. I see both visionaries are present. Huge crowd - biggest so far. Many, many priests and religious! No Padraig sighting so far. . Peace. Pray, pray, pray.
It was not a good audio on tv…. But I think what I heard was Our Lady prayed again in Aramaic. She was very joyful and thanked everyone for their prayers and sacrifices. She was dressed in Gold as a Queen. She said to continue to pray! I’m sure there will be more news. can’t wait to hear Padraig’s experience.
