I heard an Islamic lady being quoted on BBC Radio 4 this morning. She had gone out to fight with ISIS in Syria. She found living conditions, 'Far to hard out there' and has returned to her native England. She is complaining that the British Government is not doing enough to help her financially and otherwise and other returning Jihad fighters to get back to normal when they return. She warned that unless the returning Jihadists get the help they want they might become bitter ,vengeful and do something everyone would regret. I know this is not a Spiritual topic but as I sat listening to this my mouth dropped open wider and wider. Sometimes I think I have been mysteriously transported to some weird other dimension.
As a society we have dismissed Heaven and we are shocked finding ourselves in hell. Is our prayer life and our commitment to the faith changing with these and all the events around us?
Hi Padraig, the first thing I think should be done for ex- ISIS fighters returning from places like Iraq and Syria is to go before an International Criminal Court on charges of warcrimes and crimes against humanity. These people seem to be master manipulators and blackmailers and use threats of violence and terrorism for everything to get their own way.
Colonization and contraception necessitate massive immigration. Other than it's pervasive language has England managed to hang onto any of its culture? (Serious question?) I know we all speak English, we all play soccer, but even the fact that they are global dilutes their 'Englishness'. I don't see any way back for England. At least Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland have some element of being themselves, but 'Britain' is like a house party I had when I was 18 - gatecrashed by a multitude, so me and my flatmates ended up locking ourselves in the bedroom while the party raged on without us!
