I think maybe if Jesus does not shock and challenge us a little we are not listening too good. Some of the things He said, people just walked away. I suspect if at some point in our lives if peple do not walk away from us, at least a little because of our Christianity we should wonder why people are not listening to us. I think we should shock and challenge people a little. Not so much by what we say as by what we are.
After keeping up with the synod and all the quotes and misquotes and outright schism. ..I'm convinced that this is "girding the loins " of some of our Cardinals for the big battle right around the corner. "Know thy enemy " is a good place to start. These Cardinals are up close and personal and are being shown the big picture. Those who still want to live in the world and make a deal with the devil are certainly showing their cards. I think Francis is smarter than the average bear. He is off to Africa after this synod and it will be a party of all parties because he will affirm the African cardinals in what they said at the synod and bolster the clergy there and the people.
