I've noticed that you post Gavin Ashenden's videos from time to time. This one might set your mind at rest:
Yes but I see Cardinal Mueller met Fr James and did a photo shoot with him. This seems unwise to me. https://spiritdaily.org/blog/cardinal-mueller-also-met-with-father-martin/
Yes, perception can be more important than reality. It might have been better not to have associated with him. Still, given his recent public statement, I find it hard to believe that he didn't privately admonish him. The facial expressions of both men don't suggest to me, at any rate, that they have become best friends forever.
My only prob Funny how we all see things from where we're at. My problem with Dr. Ashenden's video was his failure to give Pope Francis the same benefit of the doubt that he gives Pope Leo. We all will just have to trust that the Holy Spirit is at work behind the scenes.
Most people, and I am fairly certain that it's demonstrated clearly by the historical posts on this site, gave Pope Francis lots of time and latitude before condemning him. In those times, the idea of a Pope intent on the destruction of Catholicism was unthinkable. After Francis, once bitten, twice shy. In Dr. Ashendon's case, he is a recent convert to Catholicism, and a very welcome one. By the time he made the move, if I remember correctly, it was very obvious what we were dealing with in Pope Francis-there could have been no possibility of Ashendon giving him the benefit of the doubt, because there no longer was doubt. And Ashendon was leaving a Church of England already ruined by perverts and heretics, so he would have been well able to recognise someone up to the same deviance in the Catholic Church. Now, the poor man is engaging in an exercise of well-intentioned wishful thinking, trying to avoid the horror of having to accept that the successor of Bergoglio is of the same ilk and simply more intelligent. He must be asking himself, has he jumped from the frying pan into the fire?
I was annoyed by Padriags enigmatic and somewhat erratic posts early in the pontificate. He initially cautioned patience etc. Then abruptly came down hard on Leo with a forthright rejection. We pressed for answers as to why. Why the sudden and abrupt change. He did not divulge. It was annoying. I now no longer care about that. I have effectively come to the same conclusion. When I heard that Leo was talking about changing attitudes as the groundwork for changing doctrine. I just knew.
Gavin is a wonderful , highly intelligent holy man. I think you are right in that he is engaging in wishful thinking. But another problem may be in that he is judging the Catholic Church as he would the Anglican Sect. If an Archbishop of Canterbury were to say the awful things Papa Leo has said even very Conservative right minded Anglican would think it fine. But Papa Leo is not the Archbishop of Canterbury. I suspect this is where Gavin is slipping up. But he is a recent convert and this is maybe understandable. However on the other hand he is misleading many thousands of the Faithful and that is not so good. I think a general good advice for converts is that they should not teach for a few years after their conversion. That they should be humble enough to keep quiet a while until they have found their feet..
What he said was madness. The cat is not only out of the bag it is pretty much running the house. The trojan horse tactics of the Vat II "reform" is now passe. They are now telling us what they are doing.
