I wonder if our British and Irish bishops are all joining in? Cardinal Nichols is going to make the consecration in Westminster Cathedral and I know my bishop (Philip Egan) is on board. No idea about the rest. I mentioned it to my pp and suggested he join in too but he seemed a bit flustered. He is saying Mass then and I hope I encouraged him enough to mention it. We need a wave of prayer. Ok, if it doesn’t fulfill the request from heaven, prayer certainly can’t do any harm!
I was talking to my brother Sean this morning. He worked in a Bank and in Finance. I said how when we were young and because we came from a very good Catholic Family, we thought everyone else was the same. We were so very, very innocent. My brother laughed out loud . Just because we may be good and well intentioned does not mean others are. .and that includes Pope's I'm sorry if this shocks you. ...but there you go ....
Good for you Clare! My PP announced this morning at Mass that he will be doing the consecration during tomorrow’s Mass.
Hi Josephite! I am so glad you were able to use my letter as a template. AND your Bishop replied! My Bishop never replied but I’m happy he is joining in the Consecration tomorrow. I have not heard of our parishes joining in so I will be going to the Cathedral. Thanks for sharing this awesome news! May God be pleased! Roslia
Your mother sounds like a wonderful lady. Such a blessing for you. Are you following her example with the next generation? Like you I love Bible studies, Church history and learning about the Faith although I prefer videos to books. Marcus Grodi and Scott Hahn are high on my list of favourites. I hate that YouTube is owned by Google and would have nothing to do with it if it weren't for the wealth of Catholic material freely available. Your memory is a lot better than mine. Even allowing for my terrible track record of having a mind packed with trivia leaving little room for retaining what matters, there are days I sense alzheimer's creeping up on me. I couldn't tell you what I did yesterday but vividly recall four or five year old me imagining Heaven to be a place where I could have my choice of toys. The story of Esau and Jacob are an example of my terrible memory. It isn't that long since Fr. Kirby covered the passages about Jacob deceiving Isaac. Not only had I forgotten Esau selling his birthright but I had completely forgotten about Rebekah's difficult pregnancy and God telling her that the older son would serve the younger. I still think that Jacob was a louse. Better and holier than Esau, but a louse. It was he who put a price on the blessing, taking advantage of his brother's hunger. The way he deceived Isaac was even worse. His mother put him up to it but he was a willing accomplice in the deceit. Fr. Kirby explains that it was God's will that Jacob receive the blessing but Rebekah, rather than letting God's will be done on God's time, decided to effect God's will on her time. Rebekah never saw Jacob again after she sent him to stay with her brother to keep him safe from Esau's wrath. That was the consequence of her taking the curse upon herself. Fr. Kirby said that the blessing, once given, was binding and could not be taken back even if it had been given to a stranger. It's a pity you don't post more. We could all benefit from you sharing your knowledge.
Irish Bishops seem to be doing the consecration at 4 p.m. our time (5 p.m. in Rome). The Pope will lead a penitential ceremony beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the consecration at 6.30 p.m. which is 5.30 p.m. Irish time. Will it make a difference if our Bishops do the consecration earlier than the Pope?
Amazing that so much is lining up ….. https://medjugorje.com/march-25-2022-the-birthing-of-momentous-grace-for-the-world/
Thanks for these posts. I don't want to take away from the consecration topic, but meant to add a few meditations of things I've learned. About who was the firstborn, the two boys were fraternal twins, so there were two conceptions in Rebecca - which what is said in Genesis (Two nations are in thy womb, and two peoples shall be divided out of thy womb, and one people shall overcome the other, and the elder shall serve the younger.) I've read that in Jewish teachings, Jacob was considered to have been conceived first and Esau second and the image of Jacob holding the heal of his brother at birth was about holding him back so that the order of birth could follow the order of conception. So was Esau truly the eldest? Only God knows and this could be part of the mystery of why He accepted the blessing upon Jacob. Here are a few reflections about the blindness of Isaac: I've heard bible scholars point out that when a man is said to be blind, there was in the OT a suggestion that it was because he had committed some sort of sin. An example of a holy man described as blind is the prophet Eli whom we're told completely misjudges the holy Hannah who is praying in the temple fervently but he takes her for a drunken woman. She conceived a child, Samuel, who God uses to reproach Eli about how he didn't do the right thing with his sons, "because he knew that his sons did wickedly, and did not chastise them". Some say that Eli's blindness is the result of placing his sons above his love of God. For Isaac, we find out that he is blind in the passage right after the one describing how Esau's choice of wives offended his parents. Did Isaac not say anything to his son because Esau was his favorite? Perhaps that's the suggestion, because it's what is said to have happened to Eli, reproached because he didn't chastise his sons' behavior. As I was writing this an inspiration came to me: did Rebecca consecrate her eldest to the Lord before he was born? Perhaps she knew somehow that one belonged to the Lord and one did not by their behavior... The OT is so rich, so many things are not said. I wish I could listen to more stories about these figures.
Book: True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary by St. Louis de Montfort Typology: Rebecca is a type of the Blessed Virgin Mary Jacob = type of the chosen people of God Esau = type of the worldy people who exchanged their heavenly inheritance for a "bowl of soup" St. Louis de Montfort's says that Jacob represents the chosen people of God because they are simple, like to stay at home, pray often and are devoted to their Heavenly Mother, just as Jacob was devoted to her mother Rebecca. Esau on the other hand is too worldly, is always on the move hunting animals and does not have devotion or even give affection to her mother Rebecca. The Blessed Virgin Mary is like Rebecca who has the keys on how Her children will get their heavenly inheritance. * The 2nd born son outlasting the 1st born son in terms of goodness or God's blessing is a repeating theme in the Bible. We have seen that with Cain and Abel, Ishmael and Isaac, Esau and Jacob, and Joseph's sons Manasseh and Ephraim.

The text seems to expose itself as heretical and contains statements that are not qualified. I myself have already noticed this negatively when he spoke of "freedom and freedom of movement" in a letter. The arguments put forward by the author that he is in Putin's hands are to be taken seriously. The whole thing seems strange to me and we will do without his participation in the consecration of Russia.
Noon Mass at my parish was PACKED! More even than a typical Sunday Mass. The pastor offered an unannounced low TLM for the Feast of the Annunciation.
That is exactly what my sister said. She went to Mass at lunch. There were more people there than she ever sees on Sunday. I told her I was slightly shocked to hear that.
