When my mother and father got married they bought a new built house on the outskirts of town. House prices rose so rapidly that just a few years later they were able to buy another big house outright for the first of their ten children. My mother said that this having a house without rent of mortgage is what saved us all when my Father and older brother were interned without charge or trial. My mother never had to work , this would have been really impossible with ten children. After my father and elder brother were released from the Internment Camps my fathers buisiness had crashed. We used to be really well off. My father had owned fives shops an his won credit firm. He even had his own little plane and we owned a little house at the sea side. So from lots to nothing. But owning your home is such a huge thing. I never really saw either of them worrying about money. They must have but I never was aware of it. My mother once told me never to worry about money that it was not worth worrying about. Things are so different now. Everyone everywhere seems so oppressed by money cares. It is a huge, huge thing. Worst of all is a mortgage. It can be a form of slavery. Thank God here in Spain I have no mortgage. The houses and land around here are so cheap they are pretty well giving them away. I wish I had all the answers, but when I look back on the life my parents lived I can see how Faith can set us free of a lot of grinding slavery. It requires trust though and this is not easy. I wish I had more of the simple trust of my parents. My Jesus I trust in you, may I Trust in thee ever more.
