Thankfully, someone way smarter than me (at Catholic World Report) has come to the same conclusions about Pope Francis and his interview with young people for Disney - embarrasing!

    But also scandalous!

A Pope at Disney and the Church “in diapers”
Dr. Larry Chapp (retired Professor of Thelogy)

In conclusion, all I can say after reading about this interview is, “Good grief, this is embarrassing!”

They (McElroy & Pope Francis) instead choose to speak in the language of our therapeutic culture, and its atomized individualism and runaway moral subjectivism, in matters of sexual morality.

Abortion ,' Must be viewed with a certain coldness'.

It is not often I am left speechless, but he leaves me speechless.

He said that abortion must also be looked at “scientifically, and with a certain coldness.” He added that one month from conception an embryo was not “a bunch of cells that got together, but a systemized human life.”

I would like to see the original text as perhaps this is a poor translation? Trying to cut him some slack but --

Just tell yourself all things are passing, this too will pass, pour yourself a Whiskey, take a sedative and pull the covers over your head. Actually, make that a double.

True - he hasn't long left - but he is not good for my blood pressure -

I'm a wine man not a whiskey drinker and have been off alcohol for Lent - Will pour myself a large glass of red tomorrow and shout cheers to the world.

I just want to scream. And shout. And stamp my feet. And have a good old fashioned tantrum. But I shall double up on Rosaries instead. "Trust in the Lord. Wait upon Him. He will not fail to act."

I think Padraigs age-old advice is the best policy. Simply ignore him. Know your faith, articulate it and live it the best you can. Who actually pays attention to the man?
His audience are those with itching ears, the poorly catechised, and the trendy Liberal set by and large. The scoffer will always scoff, the thinking man will give him no heed, and the serious Catholic can laugh or cry. It is Christ's Church after all and who runs the shop down here is beyond our control. Even if he were to repent of his absurdities what difference would it now make?
Thank God I have no power, no authority, and live in relative obscurity

Unquestionably a case of projection. The teachings on perversion go back to Moses and remain unchanged since, with the exception of Christ's increasing the rigidity of the teachong against adultery. In logic, Moses and Christ are the infiltrators, in that case. In reality, it is obvious that the Church has been infiltrated by the promoters of an ideology that was almost unknown before a mere half century ago. As the sand is almost expelled from the hour-glass, Bergoglio seems to feel an urgency to complete his programme before he meets his master, One who will still be prepared to lift the millstone from around his neck. Let us pray, and it gets harder for me to say that what with every further outrage, that he chooses another master, and soon.

We're being well set up to be charged with hate speech and hate thought (think of that poor lady repeatedly arrested for silent prayer).

 May Jesus touch the Pope with light that he may see himself as Christ sees him. And may I be given that light to see him as Christ sees him. (Fr. Ripperget's advice)

The heretical german synod will only implement its reforms in March 2026, exactly 3 years after the completion of the process, this time period is the same as the duration of the Second Vatican council, perhaps the german bishops are giving an idea for Francis to allow a decentralized Vatican III in every Local Church and, thus, be hailed as the leader who prevented a split with the German Church.

This is an accurate translation I’m sorry to say.

    Here’s the Spanish original.

El problema del aborto hay que verlo científicamente y con cierta frialdad.

    Another excerpt:

The English translation in fact waters down the Spanish original.

One woman recounted her experience working in a group called "Catholics for the Right to Choose" in Argentina and gave Francis a green handkerchief, a symbol of the pro-choice movement in Argentina, which legalized abortion in 2020.

Here is a more nuanced take on the Pope's interview that seems more balanced account -

    https://aleteia.org/2023/04/07/pope-talks-with-young-people-at-odds-with-church-teaching/

Some of these young people are truly lost - to gender disphoria, to ideologies and perversion. In his dialogue with the peripheries with confused and sick young people he needs to encourage them to have an encounter with the man of history, Jesus Christ who is the answer to the problems that these young people face - for he truly is the way, the truth and the life.
