Hi, real quick, I’m trying to grow now potatoes from the ones I grew last season; but they aren’t sprouting. Can you please pray that sprout if they can?
Saint John Vianney would be a good saint to pray to. He ate lots of them. The evil one used to mock him and called him "potato eater"! He also said if there were two more like him (in France?)his kingdom would be destroyed!
I need more info. Did you plant the sprouted "eyes" from last years potatoes? Or do you mean the sprouts planted now won't grow? If you put your seed potatoes in a paper bag in the dark I think they will sprout. As for planting sprouts in the ground there are lots of you tube videos on how its done. Any one else out there who has planted potatoes????
I grow quite a bit every year. I’m afraid you are either several months too early (northern hemisphere) or too late (Southern Hemisphere). How are you trying to grow them? I’d take a seed piece that has 2-3 eyes and is at least the size of a golf ball and plant it, eyes up, and wait a few weeks. It takes a little bit for them to sprout in the spring - but once they do they grow fast and you will need to hill them up.
Yes, letting whole potatoes age in a cool dark place covered in a bag or bushel basket with burlap will make them sprout.
I’ve been putting them under the grow lights; I thought you just had to chit them in order for them to sprout.
I’m not sure, but I think some of potatoes that I’ve left out have started sprouting, I hope and pray that that’s the case.
